convertedbeaver 10 Report Share Posted February 27, 2005 here is the road that bluefield needs to travel to get to the civic center. Region 7 Section 1: Tuesday, at Raleigh County Armory  Summers County vs. Shady Spring, 6 p.m.; Independence vs. Liberty ®, 8 p.m.; Friday, at Raleigh County Armory, 7 p.m.  Summers County-Shady Spring winner vs. Independence-Liberty ® winner. Section 2: Tuesday, at Princeton High, 7:30 p.m.  James Monroe vs. PikeView. Friday, at Princeton High, 7:30 p.m.  James Monroe-PikeView winner vs. Bluefield. Regional championship, at Princeton High. well at least we have the home court kinda through out the tourny. so that means we need everyoone out to help support the beavers!!! bluefieldRocks 14 Report Share Posted February 27, 2005 I think i get it now, so if WE beat james monroe/pike view Then we'll either play summers county, which beat us eariler this season, Shady Spring, Independence,Liberty Then if we beat the winner of them, we go up-state..Correct? bluefieldRocks 14 Report Share Posted February 27, 2005 [ QUOTE ] Whats the deal with mathews? i havent heard much out of him since the graham game. [/ QUOTE ] I personally think we should leave the line-up the way it was before, without matthews. It makes us alot quicker i think... bluefieldRocks 14 Report Share Posted February 28, 2005 hmmmm......could be But anyways back to the conversation, i think he should sit matthews until one of his starters gets in foul trouble or needs a breather, because from the games i've saw they do pretty dern good without him playing... beaverbaseball 10 Report Share Posted February 28, 2005 I would have to agree with ya on that one BluefieldRocks cuz they have been playing pretty good with out him
Bluefield_Rules 46 Report Share Posted February 28, 2005 They defeat Logan, who has the best big man in AA (Lou Green), without Matthews inside and to me that spoke volumes. Matthews can be a huge asset when he comes to play and plays full-tilt the entire game. However, I do believe that b/c he has been suspended a couple of times this season he shouldn't be starting at this point. He should have to re-earn the right to be a starter, but that's simply my opinion...
beaverbaseball 10 Report Share Posted February 28, 2005 I agree, there has to be consequences for his actions. So will we have to see if Coach Gilliard will go ahead and play him or stick to his game plan he has had the past couple of games.
Bluefield_Rules 46 Report Share Posted February 28, 2005 He played against Oak Hill last night, so I'd be interested to know if he started. It's Coach Gilliard's team though, and if he sees fit to start the young man then so be it. He has more information and knowledge of the situation than any of us have. beaverbaseball 10 Report Share Posted February 28, 2005 that is true, Do think Coach Gilliard will stick around for us next season
Bluefield_Rules 46 Report Share Posted February 28, 2005 I don't know if he will or not, but honestly I'm not worried about it. Gilliard is a good man from what I've been told and I'm glad with have such an individual coaching at Bluefield, but I haven't been overly impressed with his coaching in the past two seasons. Bluefield's defense is the worst it has been in a decade and the press they run is very ineffective for the most part. I had heard a lot of good things about his coaching prior to his hire, but to this point I've been disappointed. Of course, it's easy for me to sit here at a computer and criticize someone. I have the upmost respect for any high school coach b/c they give up a ton of their own time to coach and get little in-terms of pay in return. With that said though, I've still been disappointed in the product this year. Bluefield is better than what they've showed this year and losing games to the likes of a Summers County is unacceptable. beaverbaseball 10 Report Share Posted February 28, 2005 That is true. We have our bad games every once in a while but I would like to see him stick around. He is a pretty cool guy and he seems like a good coach.

beaverbaseball 10 Report Share Posted February 28, 2005 People have been saying that he might go to princeton Which would most likely make Tony Webster the new head coach for the beavers
bluefieldRocks 14 Report Share Posted February 28, 2005 That would stink if he went to princeton... I think he's a very good coach, no disrespect to coach webster at all...But i like coach gilliard...
