Hurley Rebels 16 Report Share Posted December 22, 2005 I watched the Richlands vs. Salem game. This years Richlands team was by far the best high school football team I've ever watched play. So what i was wanting is the lo-down so to speak on the Turner Ashby team, they had to be HECK of a football team to defeat the Blues 27-13! hhstigerfan 12 Report Share Posted December 22, 2005 Robert E. Lee out of Staunton is probably the team you are thinking about. Who was the other team they lost to? I was thinking Harrisonburg..
DipsetinVA 10 Report Share Posted December 22, 2005 they had alot of speed, which was only magnified on that turf....
parsons 178 Report Share Posted December 22, 2005 i do not buy that turf argument....turner ashby had a quick quarterback, that was all.....their backs are decent..we just played like crap.......liberty was a much quicker team....
Fresh_Prince 10 Report Share Posted December 22, 2005 Yea I agree with you on that, the turf did not win the game for Turner Ashby, their players did and they deserve the credit. You are right we didn't play a good game, but it is in the past, and so is the illegal cleats. lol
BigD4VT 11 Report Share Posted December 22, 2005 I buy the turf argument because Turner Ashby was prepared to play on that infernal garbage and Richlands was not. I hope when the Blues have to play on turf again they'll just stay home and practice on grass. Having to go all the way to Wise to practice did more harm than good in my opinion. It was too much of a disruption.

RichlandsAlum 678 Report Share Posted December 22, 2005 [ QUOTE ] liberty was a much quicker team.... [/ QUOTE ] Agree 100% with this point. Turner Ashby was much better prepared than Richlands, and that proved to be the deciding factor.
lee 10 Report Share Posted December 22, 2005 Yeah Thats what I ment Lee and then it was harrisonburg.
DipsetinVA 10 Report Share Posted December 23, 2005 try running on turf then doing it on a muddy feild, its a world of difference...

lee 10 Report Share Posted December 23, 2005 another thing if we would have came out like we did with liberty the 1st it would have been over for turner ashby in my eyes liberty was a better team we just didnt play.
Hurley Rebels 16 Author Report Share Posted December 23, 2005 ALL I KNOW IS RICHLANDS CAME UP SHORT, I WOULD OF LIKED TO SEE THEM WIN THIS YEAR BECAUSE THEM GUYS REALLY DESERVED IT!
old_school_blue 247 Report Share Posted December 23, 2005 I'm a "glass is half-full guy." To me Richlands didn't go out and lose the game. TA went out and won a state title and they deserved it as well. As much as it hurt me to see the season end as it did, I really admired the way TA came out and played. I noticed before the game the way Coach Newman (TA'S head coach) spoke to every player in warm-ups and shook their hand. I knew at that moment, TA was ready to play. Richlands enjoyed a wonderful season and re-emphasized why we have one of the most revered programs in Southwest Virginia. Go Blues!
lee 10 Report Share Posted December 23, 2005 I saw that during warm ups another thing i saw was when the ta's team came out they hadx 2 cheerleaders doing backflips as fast a the guys could run right beside of them that was impressive and ta did show up to play.
