GMan 3,569 Report Share Posted August 17, 2006 [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] what about the 1990 team?the last graham team to go 10-0 in reg.season.they had a good team. [/ QUOTE ] As a Graham fan I refuse to put any team with "that quarterback" at the helm on any "best of" list. [/ QUOTE ] That just shows how good that team was in spite of the QB... Beaverteeth 10 Report Share Posted August 17, 2006 "i would maybe nominate the '97 championship team from Bluefield... that's my pick as the best Beaver team". That's right !!!!!
buzzsawBeaver 12 Report Share Posted August 17, 2006 [ QUOTE ] In 13 games Martin had 1800 yards, Smalls 1200, and Coppolo around 800 [/ QUOTE ] I recall smalls having more than that, closer to 1,600.

[/ QUOTE ] 97 was a good team and so was 04 but neither one was the "all time best" for that you got to go way back....anybody else remember the 1967 team with Pete Wood and Ronnie Goodwin they also played as sophmores on the 1965 State Championship team and remember folks those were AAA championships. The 1967 team was the last of the Gainor era and most people think his finest squad.
oldskool 10 Report Share Posted August 18, 2006 Yeah I can remember very well when he threw 5 ints down at Radford in the Region IV Championship. WE had beat Readford 2 weeks earlier soundly.
Beaverteeth 10 Report Share Posted August 18, 2006 If I recall we (97) beat Weir in the playoffs which they beat the AAA state champs in the regular season, so I guess you could say 97 had a great chance to win AA and AAA? 67 team..don't know much about them heard they were great though. total 12 Report Share Posted August 18, 2006 a lot of people in the stands in '97 -- who were not Beaver fans and were there just watching good football -- said that was the best team in the state regardless of classification. a lot of us agreed with it. however, all that can ever be done is debate for or against it. Beaverteeth 10 Report Share Posted August 18, 2006 Guess im partial to 97 because I was on it, but never know there were some tuff teams way back in the day that went undefeated and did not get picked to play in the title game.
