GMan 3,569 Report Share Posted November 8, 2006 [ QUOTE ] well according to vhsl records....richlands just broke the state record for most points in 10 games..they may be a good team [/ QUOTE ] Not quite... That "record" was for when the VHSL did not have playoffs, only a 10-game season, prior to 1970. Several teams have gone over that number since 1970 (440 points in games), but they are not recognized as the 10-game scoring record. Now, the VHSL counts every game played, including playoffs, as a "season"...Richlands will have to score 319 points in the playoffs to break Hampton's record of 819 points in a season. old_school_blue 247 Report Share Posted November 8, 2006 So how many teams have scored over 500 points in the regular season?
zack 10 Author Report Share Posted November 8, 2006 not really anything , i just like numbers and stats and sometimes they may mean nothing. richlands has a great team and not trying to compare anything, but i will say this about maghanbauers 3 teams. 2004 had more offensive stars with andre hairston, shawver, tony spradlin and we were extremely hard to stop on offense no matter the defense, and our defense was pretty good too with brian webb, dustin pickle and several other stars. shawver was a thrower. 2005 saw keith gaines at qb and he brought the run, pass mix in and got better and better as a passer. we still had duan smith in the backfield, tony spradlin at receiver.we were not quite as good offensively but our defense was probably a little better. this year mark hanabury came in at qb and he is a mixture of shawver and gaines.a good passer who can run, not a sprinter like gaines , and probably not as good a passer as shawver, but together with his decision making skills and leadership has become a very good quarterback.the mark of this team is depth, the offensive line and great defense.this team, not super big is not the fastest but very quick.the defense plays very well together. blacksburg had the best offense we have saw yet and they ended up with 10 points which was helped by 3 turnovers. they had about 30 yards rushing for the game and 160 yards passing in 30 attempts. salem had 229 yards rushing and 87 yards passing., 320 yards of offense. im glad we had the close game, which could serve to help us later. i know everybody is shooting for us and pulaski will be this week. they are only 2-7 but those of you that attended the scrimmages in bluefield know that they are better than that.william fleming and possibly amherst or that great amherst team looms on the horizon so either we way i can say we have had a great team. wackiejack 10 Report Share Posted November 9, 2006 What about the combination of scoring 500 and only giving up 50 in 10 games?? (Like Richlands did) I'm doubting that has occured very much, if ever.

If you notice that record dates back to 1945. Hampton holds the official season scoring record with 819 points...average 80 points/game in the playoffs through the State Championship and then Richlands will have the record...
