pdfan 101 Report Share Posted February 25, 2007 Just like the other 4 games a close hard fought game until the end. Good luck to both teams next week in the state quarterfinals. Again congrats to MV for winning the Region 4 title!!
mhsalum 31 Report Share Posted February 25, 2007 i'm like a broken record...martinsville started slow, gathered themselves and took a lead, but then couldn't hold on to it. yet another game where all kinds of calls and especially fouls were either missed or just not made...and this isn't an excuse, it was poorly called both ways. 4 total fouls in the first half, then they changed it up and called quite a few in the 2nd...it's beginning to be as bad as watching an nba game... time to suck it up and travel to roanoke to face a very solid hidden valley squad. good luck to mv as well as they face off against william fleming. hopefully both teams will represent the piedmont and region iv well. dmspartan 10 Report Share Posted February 25, 2007 I have some msigivings about some of Martinsville's substitutions. I cannot begin to understand the reasons that an untested, untried sophmore just up from the JV is being given playing time over players that helped the 'Dogs "stay in the hunt" last year for what ultimately proved to be their 13th state title - especially during the absence of Jervis Wimbush. Perhaps someone out there could enlighten me as to what the reasons - if any - could possibly be.

Truly, this game didn't really mean anything as far as winning another State Title since both teams advance. Maybe by getting the "untested, untried sophmore just up from the JV" some PT, it will pay off in the long run...
dmspartan 10 Report Share Posted February 26, 2007 I don't know much about the game but WHO would you choose to put into a game that could decide whether or not you played a regional champion or a regional runner-up - someone who's previously been in a similar situation or someone who who is playing his third game as a varsity player - regardless of his level of talent? dmspartan 10 Report Share Posted February 26, 2007 And shouldn't your bench be getting "shorter" instead of longer during playoff time? It certainly shouldn't include someone who hasn't played at this level of competition or intensity before.
