Guest BEAVERTAIL Report Share Posted November 9, 2007 the super six will always be in wheeling... they have the money to pay for it and the hotels to support it. They just recieved the contract for another 4 years i believe... mitchell is may be a better stadium... but its all about the benjamins. the_truth 10 Report Share Posted November 9, 2007 Beavertail is right on the money. If they were interested in the best field it would be in Morgantown. If they were interested in centrally locating it, try Nicholas County or there abouts. Bluefield or Princeton for that matter have a great stadium, and the motels to handle it, but not enough money or power to get it. If Charleston cant get it with Laidley Field or whatever its name is now, we dont have much chance down here. If good ol' Stubby was around we MIGHT have a chance. GetMoney55 11 Report Share Posted November 9, 2007 Bluefield definitely has a very nice field and could easily hold the state championships but the problems is in hotels. There arent very many places for visitors to stay. I have talked to many people about this situation and this is the reason they have given me. It is not exactly the motel and hotel capital of the world. Most people stay in Ohio.
hokie07 11 Report Share Posted November 9, 2007 [ QUOTE ] Have you been to Wheeling? It is not exactly the motel and hotel capital of the world. Most people stay in Ohio. [/ QUOTE ] Exactly. That is why it should be moved. The actual revenue that comes to WV from the Super Six could be higher if they would find a better location. Ohio and Pennsylvania benefit from the championships being played so close to them. Many traveling fans stay out of state and that does nothing for West Virginia's economy. I guess in this aspect of state revenue then West Virginia really is "Open For Business"...
ghs84 10 Author Report Share Posted November 9, 2007 there are plenty of motels between bluefield and princeton.i think that the money thing is the key.

ghs84 10 Author Report Share Posted November 9, 2007 i think it would be fair to have the super six in the south, central and northern region of the state at least every 2 to 3 years.
tom 10 Report Share Posted November 9, 2007 besides casions anmd kickbacks for the SSAC, another issue is locker rooms..those are the same locker rooms we used in pee wee and midget ball and im old, so whats that say about them?
Bluefield_Rules 46 Report Share Posted November 10, 2007 [ QUOTE ] now that mitchell has this beutiful field, why not hold the super six here? [/ QUOTE ] There is no strip club or gambling facility located in the same parking lot as the stadium like there is at Wheeling. Until Bluefield tears down Bowen Field to build a gambling facility and tears down the insurance place across Stadium Dr. to build a strip joint then forget about it. [/ QUOTE ] It sure seems like the SSAC folks are crooked, or something. I have always heard the rumor of kickbacks, and it's obvious, there is no financial reason to hold it in Wheeling, as a vast majority of the income goes to Ohio and Pennsylvania. Plus, the weather usually STINKS up there that weekend. Wheeling's stadium is nice. No nicer than Laidley Field in Charleston. Charleston has plenty of hotel rooms, too, and while it's not exactly centrally-located, it's not too far from it. Charleston lost the Super Six, as they weren't willing to pony up money to the right people, and honestly, I doubt it will ever be anywhere but Wheeling, as long as the Parkersburg powers-that-be are running the SSAC. bluefieldRocks 14 Report Share Posted November 10, 2007 The reason they have it in wheeling is because bluefield doesn't have gambling and strip clubs like they do up there.

MavsRock 21 Report Share Posted November 10, 2007 Unfortunatly when you look at the athletic director's board (and I know that this isn't the SSAC) and see jack asses like Wayne Ryan allowed to participate, I've got a pretty good idea of what we're dealing with. Don't want to pray for death of anyone, but jailtime for a corruption or gambling scandal would be nice. I think the funnest system would be a rotation involving pretty much any field big enough to host a AAA playoff game. It probably will never happen, but I think it woulf be cool.
