His recruits, his team. Whats Charlie Weis done with his number 1 recruiting class every year? Nadda.

Thats not the point. The point is, he recruits, shall we say "irresponsible" players.

Seems to me I heard a report over the summer when the Tenn. punter was arrested again that Vols players had been arrested the third most times out of all Div 1A schools since 2002. I know Penn State was #1 with like 60 players arrested and I forget who was #2.

My favorite charge listed for a school on the Fulmer cup has to be the write up on Keenan Jones from Hawaii. He was arrested on 2nd degree assault charges after he allegedly ordered 13 porno movies at a woman’s residence resulting in a bill of over $300!! lol Apparently, when she went to him to complain about it, he slammed the door on her foot and broke two of her toes!

I would typically come out and say: "Well, it's better to have 1 NC and thugs than have 0 NCs and thugs". But then I'd remember, UVA placed 3rd in the Fulmer Cup this year and I can't throw anymore stones at the Hokie glass house. For now.

Can you apply for unemployment when you receive a 6 million dollar buyout? CPF will land a job, if he wants one. Oh, yeah I didnt read all of the Fulmer Cup rules, but how many points is animal cruelty?

Fulmer Cup points only pertain to a football player's actions when he's in school, not out of school.

Yep... big orange, you should have read the rules. Observer already pointed out why.

MIAMI -- Multiple media sources in South Carolina reported Thursday that Virginia Tech defensive coordinator Bud Foster will meet with Clemson athletics director Terry Don Phillips about the Tigers' coaching post this weekend.

Foster, who led his defensive charges against Miami on Thursday night at Dolphin Stadium informed Hokies sports information director Dave Smith that he would be not offering any comment to the media on the reports.

The Web site "Tigerillustrated.com" reported that Foster will meet with Phillips at an undisclosed location.

Tommy Bowden resigned as Tigers coach on Oct. 13. Assistant coach Dabo Swinney was named interim coach and will lead the Tigers the rest of this season.

Phillips told a group of Clemson reporters on Oct. 20 that he would like to have a new coach in place by the first 10 days of December.

Phillips flew to Oklahoma City on Tuesday to talk with Oklahoma defensive coordinator Brent Venables. The Columbia (S.C) State reported that Phillips interviewed former Oakland Raiders coach Lane Kiffin for the position last Friday in Detroit.

Foster, 49, who has been one of the nation's top assistants for the past 22 years at Tech, said several weeks that he would be interested should Clemson call.

Fulmer- unemployment office

Beamer. has job....well for now

You are not going to have to worry about Beamer losing his job. He has done a fine coaching job this year with what he has had to work with. They are extremely young, the only thing I can say is watch out for them in the next couple of years. Last night came down to youth and terrible offensive line play. There was some bad offensive playcalling but despite that if the Hokies would have had some blocking up front at all they would have been fine. But that's the way it goes sometimes.

Although OC Brian Stinespring did have some awful playcalling the last drive with a couple of minutes left. One would think that knowing how terrible the offensive line had played, with the exception of Tech's last scoring drive, that he would want to roll Taylor out of the pocket and give him the run/throw option. It would have been much more successful but can't go back and change it now.

Most VT fans who are "in the know" already knew he was on Clemson's "short list"...

Rick Watson of "Big Dog Sports Talk" was on this a while back...but he has insinuated that it's almost a done deal..but won't come out and say it.

I know he interviewed, and I seriously hope he gets the chance but I'm not sure Clemson is gonna want to go in his direction. It could be simply that Clemson is interviewing him because their AD is a VT man, and it's a matter of respect to Bud. I could be totally wrong though.

I do hope Bud gets a chance somewhere and I would wish him the world of success. It will be bittersweet in that we lose the person that is essentially keeping the program afloat, and retaining the ones who are driving it deeper and deeper into the abyss. I can only imagine the difficulties the program will have without the defense to bail out the ridiculously bad offense and special teams (who are often just as much to blame for big game losses as the embarrassingly bad offense). If Bud leaves, Mackey has pretty much stated in so many words he will not come here. Some of the TSL insiders have also now hinted too that the offense is driving away recruits. So much so that VT is now a pretty good ways behind PSU in the race for Kevin Newsome, a person who really wanted to come to VT (and still could, but it will be a colossal uphill battle).

First of all Bud Foster is an excellent defensive coordinator and I wish him well if he does go and the offense is horrendous but they are extremely young. And secondly this is the first year in the last 10-15 years that the special teams have not been up to par. Every facet of every team has a down year at some point in time. They are young and will be fine. Look out for the next two years because they will be extremely good.

there is no excuse, NONE, for them to be so inept. The so-called great OL recruiting classes of the last few years have one player starting now. For some, this is their 3rd year in the program and they still can't supplant the horrid upperclassmen we have playing. That says a lot about their progress. I doubt very seriously there will be anything "excellent" about the VT offense next year or the year after.

UVAObserver,

You are so right, Techs rivals would love to see Foster leave. As for the offense and Stinespring costing VT a shot at the blue chip high school offensive skill players, i've been saying that for a a long, long time on this board. Many people on here disagreed with me. It started back even before Percy Harvin left for Florida. It will continue until they cut Stiney loose or it eventually will cost Beamer his job.

Just like Tech fans love to see Groh stay. ;)

But I know the feeling.
