swvasport_7 10 Report Share Posted July 20, 2009 Away game is a away game...you have the crowd against you and everything. but i dont think traveling makes a huge difference. The players are there the night before the game so there well rested and ready. I just dont see what is so bad about in-state games
Deleted Account 5,203 Report Share Posted July 20, 2009 Traveling makes a huge difference. Agreed. A little personal story. I travelled to Columbus, Ohio to watch Virginia in the 2007 NCAA Tournament. VT also made this field, and was also at the Columbus 1st-2nd round site. Coming back in at about 8:30 at night, I saw Coleman Collins and Deron Washington enter the lobby and get in the elevator with a case of beer EACH. Needless to say, I put up a sizable amount of money against the Hokies the following day. Needless to say, they didn't disappoint, looking two steps slow against Southern Illinois. Wonder why? ;) Chalk it up to how travelling tends to take a team's focus away at times.
bhs7695 185 Report Share Posted September 9, 2010 (edited) KSU has been very good in the past. There is no way of knowing how they will be in 2014. Tech was supposed to play Wisconsin in 2008 and 2009 (deal signed in 1999) but Wisconsin cancelled. They were also supposed to play Auburn in 2004 and 2005 (think that's right) but they cancelled too. KSU is now backing out of the series with Virginia Tech apparently. http://www.techsideline.com/message_board/football/2010/September/9/3617920.php http://cjonline.com/sports/football/2010-09-09/ksu_drops_va_tech_series "Football Schedule Update-- When our nine-game conference schedule pattern begins next year we will of course have five conference games at home and five on the road in alternating years. As we work to have the right balance each season, we have reached a mutual agreement with Virginia Tech to cancel that series, originally for 2014 and 2016, without any financial penalty to either school. We are still on track to have our full 2011 schedule in place and announced in the near future. I appreciate your patience!" sandman 13 Report Share Posted September 13, 2010 "The [Florida] Gators have not played a regular-season, nonconference game outside the Sunshine State since 1991" http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/columns/story?columnist=maisel_ivan&id=4245068 BTW...the Gators lost that game at Syracuse 38-21... When you get the state championship back from Dolly Madison, call me.
Gym 10 Report Share Posted September 14, 2010 Thats crazy how do that but smart they play the toughest conference in college football, no need to scedule bigger teams to play. IF they win the SEC they play for the National Championship plain and simple.
