Health Care according to the Libs

I've sat back and heard all of the rhetoric about the Gov. Option. Don't we have that, its called Medicaid. The liberals fund it for votes. Our health care system is in need of some reorganization and its called competition. We need to eliminate the huge Pharmaceutical Companies and allow smaller businesses to compete. The problem is, health care is a big business and there is no bigger business in our great United States than the Government. Its sad to see our country is leaning more toward Socialism and away from the things that made this country great and that's having a competitive spirit. Our culture is changing for the worst, we lack the competitive fire that made us great!

You have to be eligible for Medicade. ppl who makes 80 grand a year have a problem with affording healthcare. I like what the goverment is trying to do.

I would settle for senseless and needless law suits brought against hospitals ceasing. There are many doctors who do not deliver babies because of the insurance they have to carry in case they make a mistake.

That alone should help cut a tremendous amount of cost toward everything.

As a matter of fact, ending lawsuits period.

I don't make near $80,000/year and I don't have any problem affording my healthcare.

I think that most of those who say they can't afford it, don't want to afford it. But, they have really nice homes, really nice cars, the latest big screen TV, a cell phone attached to their ear, eat out at nice restaurants all the time, etc....

We've lost our "priorities" in life. We often sacrifice what we need for what we want. Its the "keeping up with the Jones'" syndrome...otherwise known as "the champagne lifestyle on a beer pocketbook."

If someone is making $80,000/year and can't afford healthcare, then they have major issues with money management.

my point was, someone who makes 80 grand a year and their place of employment does not offer health care and they have a pre existing illness then you cant. My mother god bless her heart doesnt own a cell phone (never has in her life) doesnt have internet, never bought a brand new car, and is one of the hardest working women God has ever placed on this Earth and she has crones (SP) and her health care is ridiculous for one treatment she has to take every 3 months the I.V. pack alone is a $ 2,000 medical expense not including office bill. when she was layed off a few months back we didnt know what we was going to do. This illness can be life threatening. but everything is ok now since she has her job back and health care. ppl with health care take it for granted if you can afford it. And if you have a pre existing illness you dont have a chance to afford it, been there and done that. Tell that to all them damn nay Sayers if they was in the position my mother was!.

god you guys are iditos!

if you make 80 grand a year +1 wife, 2 kids (about an average number of kids) and your place of employment doesnt offer healthcare and your over the cut off limit for medicade and any of your kids, your wife, or yourself have a pre exsisting illness you CAN NOT AFFORD HEALTH CARE!!!!! Americans need to quit wanting to put the less fortunate down and realize some of us are in some bad spots when it comes to health care for us and our familys. the damn war on terror our that our great ole leader BUSH started cost more tax paying money than this healthcare. but no you all would rather pay to kill a country that has nothing to do with us (IRAQ) than pay to save our own americans. Just becasue you make 80,000 a year doesnt make you in better shape than someone who makes 25,000 a year because they qualify for goverment assitance. its our middle class ppl who are hurting not out ppl in poverty.

I dont make 80,000 and I can afford health care for my family? Its called being competitive and doing something for yourself. Have an Entrepreneur spirit and quite asking for your daddy "uncle sam" to wipe your butt. Americans should pick themselves up, work hard, get more educated, get active and quite living a lazy lifestyle, most health problems are associated with the lack of physical fitness. Hell, the NFL is spending money to keep Physical Education in our public schools, because most liberals want to focus on the arts, music, etc. No, on the Government Option!

Some people are in bad spots, but if people work hard they won't remain in bad spots, the bigger problem is a much larger % of people who are all for this health care don't work and will likely never work or pay taxes, they're just expecting "free" everything from the government.

The u.s. didn't "kill" iraq, it's a much better place and the middle east more stable.

As for the idea that we don't pay to save our own people, for goodness sake how many government programs and type of assistance are there already.

I don't have a lot of sympathy for the the welfare types, for all the talk about wanting more government $s, they go out and spend on themselves instead of their children, they have more children just to get more government $s.

I've seen to many people use government food coupons to by small 10 cent candy type items that were legal to be bought with them with a 1$ coupon, get the 90 cents change, walk around the store, buy another and collect the change, the wife does that a few times herself then they have enough change to buy beer. This was when i worked at a convenient store back in the early '90s, the system's been abused at the working man's expense enough as it is.

There's enough assistance for any honest hard working person to make do already.

To completely fund the lifestyles of the beer drinking drug taking lazy welfare class, however, there can never be enough government assistance.

I don't really care what they want, it's never them who go to iraq or afghan or anywhere else for this country anyhow, they don't even know what county they live in most of the time, much less are they about to do something for the country or contribute to society in any way. I'm all out of give a you know what for the welfare class, and I'm darned certain not keen on the idea of paying for their and their 5 children's free health care now.

for those who like yourself, might be in a difficult position I can sympathize but believe you can make it in America with hard work.

It's worth mentioning, my sincere sympathies for your mother, but you might take an honest look into what type of treatment your mother, as an elderly person, would get under a socialist system, the quality of it, the timely manner of it, the duration of it, if any.

It seems what you're not grasping is that this free health care is going to really be nothing more than free first aid for children and the youth, that will suit the people wanting to see a dr. about their children's runny noses well enough, people like your mother or someone with cancer or something bad though, anyone over 40 basically, not much, not much at all.

The solution to the problem isn't as difficult as the politicians are making it out to be. True we need health care reform, but Socialism is not the method, I don't care what any liberal says!

1 .Allow health care providers to offer their services across state boundaries, this automatically would creat a ton of competition and we the consumer would have a multitude of options, this competition would drive prices down!

2. Eliminate these gigantic malpractice claims against doctors and then they wouldn't require every patient to take 25 unnecessary tests before conducting a procedure. Let the patient know their options and let them opt out of certain unnecessary tests, this way they couldn't sue the doctor and malpractice insurance would be cheaper and it would save the insured as well as the providers tons of money.

3. Stay Away from European models of health care!

4. Trust in Capitalism and not in the Federal Government!

Folks need health care and reform is needed but allowing the federal government to come in as a competitor is absolutely crazy. How would it be possible to compete with an entity when that very entity is responsible for making up the rules?
