Recent studies have shown that 36% of Americans do not own an iPOD, I don't know about you guys, but having an iPOD is a human right and it is a shame that some of you don't want the less fortunate to have "free" iPODS!

What if my brother, who can't afford an iPod wants to listen to music while he works? What about him, what about his rights? It's just not fair that the rich keep getting richer and they get to listen to music while they work or sit at home drawing their retirement.

You heartless Greedy, selfish, right wing nut jobs, should burn in ......!

I love the sarcasm, but this isn't too farfetched with things such as food, water, shelter, etc. Anyone who supports this health care mandate, there not being a constitutional right to health care, MUST support this slippery slope to its grisly, bankrupting end. Else, their entire house of cards collapses, health care along with it.

Mapper, you are missing the point, WHO HAS THE AUTHORITY TO GRANT RIGHTS?

GOD OR GOVT?

Hmm our founding father's thought so:rolleyes:

So what is the difference for right to bear arms, than a right for healthcare?

I give up with you guys, go on and whine about your tax paying money being spent for something heartfelt. But I guess we all would rather rage war in the middle east. WAIT WAIT WAIT that isn't a right tho, right? If this bill is so ungodly and unconstitutional then we are already ungodly (and hell if you guys are so hell bent on the abortion issue with this bill we kill more innocent bystanders than any nation in war) so that should be ungodly too "Matthew 24:6-8: "And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet" Hmm there is always going to be wars, so why and try to stop it? But WE CAN HELP END HUMAN SUFFERING, but no I don't want to spend my money on that, I am ok with spending all my tax paying money to go and fight wars till the end of days. NO IT IS ALL OF YOU WHO DO NOT GET IT, YES THE WAY THE BILL WAS BROUGHT ON IS VERY CONTROVERSIAL, BUT THIS ARGUMENT ISN'T ABOUT THAT IT'S ABOUT HOW WE HAVE TO SPEND OUR MONEY FOR SOMETHING GOOD. It just shows the heartless individuals who live in society today. Never once have I said this bill was good for the economy, but I would rather spend money for something good than fight a friggin war that has cost X amount more of money than this will... You don't get it, at one time it was a right to have slaves. You didn't vote unless you was a land owner (and there wasnt many black land owners then) Times change, and if you lived i in those times you would have been hell bent that it was unconstitutional then... How many of you think Abraham Lincon was a bad president? The man was shot and killed for what he done then, and now he is a American Icon... You my good friends do not get it....

Good post Observer!

I'm also waiting for someone to tell me that they are ok paying healthcare for a lazy bum who sits on their butt and collected a check.

Lol for some reason these guys who are FOR the bill are dodging these questions like they are heat seaking missiles.

Oh my friend we have been since 1965. It is called Medicaid.

I don't think I have stated a position regarding the bill, having not read it. That is how I roll. I educate myself and then come to an opinion.

Who decides what is GOOD for the economy? There are some folks that think legalizing narcotics would be good for the economy, now you wouldn't want to come across as "heartless" to those folks now would you?

By the way, I do not appreciate you assuming that I am HEARTLESS, and that I love war!

You know so little about what the founding fathers believed that it clouds your views. The right to Bear Arms is in the constitution because it allows a person to protect their LIFE, LIBERTY AND PROPTERY!

The founders did not believe that owning a Smith and Wesson was everyone's right, they were referring to protection and defense.

Times Change, but God does not change, times change but the Constitution DOES NOT CHANGE! (unless you are a modern progressive socialist, who denounces God and loves to worship the state)

Read a Book for God's sake and find out what our founders believed, an ignorant and uneducated public is the very reason we are in this mess right now! People do not understand the difference between a country that was founded on the principles of INDIVIDUAL FREEDOM and a country founded on Collective Freedom.

Government COMPASSION is nothing more than legalized THEFT, plain and simple!

Paying for abortions with my money is not a form of compassion, it is legalized murder in my eyes, according to you I would be heartless because I do not support the "FREE" health care that would enable the woman to abort the child.

Finally, I am perfectly willing to meet you in the middle on this issue.........(humor)

I will admit that I am right

if

You will admit that you are wrong

Because the "right to bear arms" is CLEARLY enunciated in Amendment II to the Constitution and strongly affirmed by D.C. v. Heller. The "right to health care" is NOWHERE in the Constitution, and neither the 4th Circuit nor the U.S. Supreme Court have articulated such a position. HUGE, HUGE, HUGE difference...

This is aside from the numerous straw men that you set up with regards to anything from war in the Middle East to Abraham Lincoln. There isn't "one reason" that we attempt to stop war, as you proffer. There are multitudes. A significant one is that fact that wars cost a TON of money, and the quicker we can fight, the better. See: Iraq. Another is that a country at peace with us is typically better than one at war. See: Post-World-War II, Cold War.

And you mention slaves. If one assumes that slaves are people, owning slaves is patently inconsistent with the freedoms enumerated in the Bill of Rights. In short, slavery was unconstitutional to begin with, but it took this nation 90 years to get that one right. On the other hand, I see nothing about health care. See my first paragraph.

You, sir, do not get it...

Mapper,

The progressives were not born yesterday, they know what they are doing. The fact that you and I and a few others are having this argument is exactly what they want.

You see, they take an issue, in this case health care, and they use our morality against us. They realize that most Americans are sound, moral , God fearing people, they then use the issue of "helping" the less fortunate to gain our support.

The intent of their "charity," however is not the well being of the less fortunate, it is control and power.

When I give to charity, my intent is to help others, not as a means to an end which will benefit me.

The government on the other hand, is using our morality, to further their agenda, ie BIG GOVERNMENT, MORE POWER!

Their intent is not compassion therefore it cannot be seen as REAL CHARITY.

They know that the automatic knee jerk reaction by folks like you, will be to call myself and other like minded persons, heartless, without compassion and greedy. They believe that if they can paint the truly compassionate, God Fearing Americans that oppose such corruption as greedy and heartless that it will destroy their credibility and their movement.

I hate to let them know, they will not succeed in doing so ..........at least not to me anyway!

You can't force charity and that is exactly what the government is doing. I am sorry, but 32 million is roughly 10% of the population. And if half of them don't want health care then we are throwing huge amounts of money and hurting a government assistance program (Medicare) for 5% of the population. That is not fair.

I have heard before that the government gives aid to get cell phones and don't forget the digital tv coupons.

I am not heartless and I feel for those people, but this is government coming into an area they are not suppose to. Pursuit of Happiness doesn't mean you get happiness, wealth, or goods. It means you have the opportunity to get them.

This is the precursor to immigration reform which is designed to give the Democrats unending control of the government.

I think it is appropriate to remember this.
