-oo- 146 Report Share Posted December 9, 2010 As the Holidays are just around the corner I was just wondering what everyones favorite holiday traditions are. What is your favorite Christmas movie, Christmas memory, or even Christmas foods etc. I enjoy the "Home Alone" movies. (just the first 2) And I love "Christmas Vacation"!!! I also enjoy me and my family's Christmas Eve breakfast we have every year. A lot of people come over and everyone reunites, friends and families. Just wanted to hear on some of your special Holiday moments. Happy Holidays everyone!!!

mv91 259 Report Share Posted December 9, 2010 Most of my Christmas memories, especially growing up, are being at both of my grandparents house for Christmas. We always lived away from Richlands, so it was extra special when we were able to get in to visit for the holidays. Stayed very busy running between Richlands and Jewell Ridge but wouldnt trade those memories for the world!!!! :) Merry Christmas Everyone!!!!!! HurricaneWarning 212 Report Share Posted December 9, 2010 I enjoy watching bowl games, spending time with the family, and eating lol. My favorite Christmas movies are Christmas Vacation and A Christmas Story although they run it for 24 hours straight on Christmas. It seems like everytime I flip the channel to it, it`s on the same part every time lol.
vthokies4life 10 Report Share Posted December 10, 2010 Right now, I live in commercialism hell. About 6 blocks from here is the Macy's of New York City that you see during Thanksgiving and Christmas. So it will be great to get back home to people who understand that Christmas is a time of seeing The Light in all the darkness that surrounds us. They see that Christmas is a time to reflect on what has been, and everything that will be. They see that Christmas is a time to be hopeful yet reflective, looking forward yet learning from the past. Christmas is a time to be with one another and to be open to one another. That's my favorite part about Christmas. The intimacy. Over Christmas, we are able to reflect on a past year, what it means, and how to carry the lessons learned into the coming year in a way that pleases Our Father. It's a time to re-learn everyone who have been shaped by situations out of their control. It is a time to realize that things may not be okay, but that with the right guidance, everything, somehow, IS okay. I think that's what this season means to me. Those are my special Holiday moments. Those are the "traditions" (intentional or not) that have come out of my experiences. For me, Christmas is a special time. It would be such a joy if everyone joined me in that sentiment. GMan 3,569 Report Share Posted December 10, 2010 My Christmas usually goes like this... Christmas Eve: First thing I do is pop the "Christmas Story" DVD into the player and put it on continuous play. Then, the wife's family comes to our house for Christmas snacks and gift opening for her uncle and his family. Once they've left, we gather up packages for my family and go to my mom's house for more Christmas snacks and gift opening. Then my wife and I return home where we open our gifts to each other...typically, this doesn't start until about 10:30 or 11. Christmas Day: Wake up early (old habit from childhood)...pop the "Christmas Story" DVD into the player and put it on continuous play. Wife goes to her parents' house and they open gifts to each other. She comes home and starts cooking Christmas grub. I just "hang out" watching "Christmas Story" until lunch is ready. Her parents come down and we all eat around noonish. Then we'll all sit around watching "Christmas Story", talking, and letting our lunch settle. Her parents usually leave mid-afternoon which allows time for a quick Christmas nap before we head over to my buddy's house for the annual Christmas night poker game where I get to hang out with several old friends from high school that I only see once a year.
