NewHampshireRed 94 Report Share Posted February 14, 2011 I'm a huge Hurley fan, But The Byron/bowman kid from Haysi. Not sure of his last name, but Haysi Wouldnt even be a contender without him.
swvasportsfan 10 Author Report Share Posted February 14, 2011 Ive only watched him a couple of times and he is a very good player, but im going to take the kid who is playing the best on the best team the older cooper from hurley. The reason is because he has averaged close to 20 a game and if it wasnt for only playing 5 minutes or so in several games due to an illness or whatever the rebels coach was sitting him for he would probaly have well over that. And I think his brother and bowman are a close second. But I follow all the BDD teams pretty closely and I just think that it has to be the cooper kid due to the rebels success. Another name to mention would be councils big man.
eastboundanddown 10 Report Share Posted February 14, 2011 I'd say Austin Cooper is POY. When Tyler was ejected after the first quarter in a dog fight at Twin Valley he took over the game and picked up the leadership, scoring, and basically took over the game. I think Tyler was suspended vs Council too maybe @ Council. Not for sure on that one a Hurleyite could tell us. All I know is whatever needs to be done, Austin does it. When they need a post player he goes to the post, when Peck can't handle the mail Austin runs the point ,or gets the pass into his brother or Waynick. Peck and Thomas Allen or whatever get to basically do not get guarded at all b/c they double off on Austin and Tyler.....
tpotter9 10 Report Share Posted February 14, 2011 Very true but it almost always will go to the scorer and I agree that Austin is the do it all player. The only problem is that Tyler had most of his good games against district competition besides the 2 game suspension. But I think one of those 2 have the best chance to win it. Tyler may be the best player in the BDD but Waynick sells the tickets....His athletic ability makes him fun to watch.
passerby 10 Report Share Posted February 14, 2011 I have watched all of these boys play since middle school ball and I have to say that I think Austin is a much better all around player than Tyler. POY shouldn't always be the high scorer. It should be the player who is a team player/leader AND scorer. Austin is all of that. The funny thing is........I am not from Hurley! swvasportsfan 10 Author Report Share Posted February 14, 2011 Well I'm not sure that Dustin is the only thing feeling the seats considering if you ever see teams lose and there is no one there, but as soon as they win everyone is trying to be a part of it. Don't get me wrong Dustin is a good athlete but just because he is athletic and can dunk isn't why people from Hurley are going to the games. I'm sure most Hurley fans are going to the games to see them win not a dunk, although both would be nice winning is much more important to all the Hurley people I have talked to. And for Dustin keep playing hard the dunks and flash of the game will come because you are a tremendous talent but winning is whats important and I hope you and the Rebel faithful all the best going forward. tank 10 Report Share Posted February 16, 2011 Austin is also the best defensive player...he can guard a post or perimeter player....if I had a vote it would go to him for sure....but I don't haha
passerby 10 Report Share Posted February 16, 2011 I agree with you Tank. Austin is by far the best all-around player in the BDD. He is a versatile player on offense and defense.
