tbgfan 856 Report Share Posted May 14, 2011 Published in today's, May 13th, BHC: Gate City's Anna McClung was named the 2010-11 Gatorade Virginia Girls Soccer Player of the Year on Thursday. McClung, a 5-foot-10 sophomore forward, has led the Blue Devils to an 8-1 record and has scored 33 goals and handed out five assists this season through nine games. A member of the U.S. Soccer Federation Under-18 National Team, McClung set a state single season record in 2010 with 65 goals as a freshman, leading the Blue Devils to the Group A semifinals. Entering tonight's game against Honaker, McClung has 98 varsity goals and a state-record 21 hat tricks in 24 games. Already having verbally committed to play at Florida State University, McClung maintained an A average at Gate City.
