Ummm, oops?

West Virginia is reportedly facing a wee bit of off-field adversity — again — ahead of the start of Dana Holgorsen‘s first summer camp as Mountaineers’ head coach, with one of the first-year coach’s players staring at what looks to be a rather serious criminal charge.

According to West Virginia MetroNews, linebacker Branko Busick was charged with armed robbery following an incident Monday evening. The North Central Regional Jail’s website lists the charge against “Nicholas Branko Busick” as being a felony, and no bail amount has been set as of this posting. The specific charge or charges were not yet listed on the site.

Here’s the MetroNews‘ account of what led to the arrest:

Police say they received a call around 5:00 from a man claiming that another man with a gun and two acquaintances entered an apartment and demanded money from him. When he told them he had no money, the victim says he was struck repeatedly with the gun and forced out of the apartment.

The school has yet to issue a comment/statement on the situation or Busick’s status with the team.

Busick, who would be a redshirt sophomore in 2011, played in two games last season. His bio on the school’s official website states that the Steubenville, Oh., native will be competing for the starting middle linebacker job this year. Whether that’s still the case after this turn of events remains to be seen.

WVU, Auburn already has the Fulmer Cup wrapped up. Quit trying. Auburn has nearly doubled the previous all-time high score. Armed robbery is not worth coming in 2nd.

This arrest may propel WVU up the standings but the last updated standings from July 11th had UVA ranked ahead of WVU. hmmmm

We need an updated thread of the Fulmer Cup somewhere on this site. I never can find it when I want it.

I think Auburn has this year pretty much wrapped up. And yes, that's 80. With UVA is a close second lol

Oh thats right. Auburn went on a tear that one weekend and set some records. I see that one was updated in March, I wonder if they've increased their lead at all since?

We had three morons get into some awful trouble at JMU back in February. One's been permanently kicked off the team, Devin Wallace (thank goodness, he was a bad egg and a matador at CB). Charges were dropped against the other two, mainly because Devin Wallace was the one that did all the dirty work. Unfortunately, the Fulmer Cup does not take off points for withdrawn charges.

Needless to say, those were Groh's recruits. Groh recruited some people of questionable character in his waning years.

WVU's Busick back in jail on second robbery charge

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- A West Virginia University linebacker cut from the team after an armed robbery arrest earlier this week is back behind bars, charged with a second, similar crime.

Branko Busick was in the Northern Central Regional Jail on a $250,000 bond Thursday.

Mountaineers head coach Dana Holgorsen dismissed the 20-year-old redshirt sophomore from Steubenville, Ohio, on Tuesday, less than 24 hours after he was charged with an armed robbery at a Morgantown apartment building.

Busick was arrested in another, unrelated armed robbery on Wednesday, said Morgantown Police Sgt. Robert Gilmore.

The victim in the second case told police he was hit in the face and knocked down as he walked home from work June 23. This week, he identified Busick as the man who stole his iPhone and a wallet containing about $70.

Gilmore said that victim was treated for his injuries at Ruby Memorial Hospital.

Busick was first arrested Monday after another victim told police a man had pointed a gun at him and two others, demanding money. When the victim said he had none, the man began hitting him with the weapon.

Busick, who turns 21 on Friday, was initially freed after his father posted a $25,000 property bond. Nick Busick is the former WWF wrestler Big Bully Busick.

Gilmore said the first arrest led to information that helped police charge Busick with the second robbery, but he wouldn't elaborate.

Busick could get up to 10 years in prison on each count if convicted.

Busick, who played in only two games last season, was an Associated Press Ohio Division IV Defensive Co-Player of the Year and AP Division IV-VI first-team All-Ohio.

Sounds like someone just trying to worsen the kid's life. The incident occured on June 23rd and he's just now coming out with it? Smells kind of iffy...but if he did it once, he's prolly done it numerous times. I just don't understand why he would need to commit acts like this when he was a scholarship football player. Some people out there are just wrong in the head I guess.
