Are you sure about that May 10th Graham-Bland Co. baseball score??? Especially considering Bland thumped Graham yesterday 12-0 at GMS...

I was wondering the same. 2-1 maybe. 23-1? Then to get mercy rule'd yesterday?!

Same song, 22nd verse at Graham. It really can't get lower than getting blown out by Bland.

Actually, Bland isn't that bad. Now, losing to Rural Retreat...

Reminds me of when I played.

It all goes back to developing arms and fundamentals.

Given the new pitching rules that took effect this season, it is more important than ever. It seems to me that some of the old school coaches are slow to make necessary changes in the way they have always done things. They will have to change the way they develop arms or get left behind.

I'm not privy to the rule changes. What's been changed?

Something like three days rest before pitching again, not sure of the particulars. I just know you need more than a couple of kids who can throw the rock, especially during "make up game" season.

For the purposes of this rule, delivery of one pitch constitutes having pitched in one inning. A pitcher may pitch in a maximum of nine innings in one day but not more than fourteen innings in any seven day consecutive period.

If a pitcher pitches in one inning for four consecutive days that pitcher shall have one calendar day of rest from competition pitching beginning with the day following the fourth consecutive day a pitch is

thrown.

If a pitcher pitches in two or three innings in one day that pitcher shall have one calendar day of rest from competition pitching beginning with the day following the first day a pitch is thrown.

If a pitcher pitches four to seven innings in one day that pitcher shall have two calendar days of rest from competition pitching beginning with the day following the first day a pitch is thrown. Further restrictions regarding this section include:

- After two days of rest a pitcher may pitch a maximum of two innings.

- After three days of rest a pitcher may pitch a maximum of three innings.

- After four days of rest a pitcher may pitch to the limit of the rule.

If a pitcher pitches in eight or nine innings in one day that pitcher shall have three calendar days of rest from competition pitching beginning with the day following the first day a pitch is thrown.

- After three days of rest a pitcher may pitch a maximum of two innings.

- After four days of rest a pitcher may pitch a maximum of three innings.

- After five days of rest a pitcher may pitch to the limit of the rule.

This limitation applies to regular season as well as post season play.

Very good rule. Very good indeed. Thanks for sharing it!

The only problem I see with the rule is that it encourages doubleheaders, particularly if you're playing a team that you know you're going to beat by 10+. The nine-inning/one-day rule could almost allow a pitcher to pitch both full doubleheaders if the scores in both are 10+.
