Deleted Account 5,203 Report Share Posted May 27, 2013 Blacksburg Regional (first time that's ever been uttered): 1. VT 2. Oklahoma 3. Coastal Carolina 4. UConn SR partner: @LSU Charlottesville Regional (7th in 9 years): 1. UVA 2. UNC-Wilmington 3. Elon 4. Army SR partner: Miss. St. Gruesome matchup for VT, nice ones for UVA. WVU will join the fray if that progress continues.

Deleted Account 5,203 Author Report Share Posted May 31, 2013 UVA averts disaster with a 2-1 win over Army and its only ace. Next up: winner of Elon/UNC-W in the Winner's Bracket.
Deleted Account 5,203 Author Report Share Posted June 1, 2013 VT becomes the only #1 seed to lose this far, losing despite a late rally against UConn. Up tomorrow at 1:00, Coastal Carolina, no slouch at all. And they travel well.
GMan 3,569 Report Share Posted June 1, 2013 Hokie bats wake up, beat Coastal Carolina 9-1. Will play loser of UConn-Oklahoma tomorrow at 1PM.
Deleted Account 5,203 Author Report Share Posted June 2, 2013 Virginia blanks Elon, 2-0, to advance to the "Regional Final" against the winner of UNC-Wilmington/Elon tomorrow. UVA has allowed 1 run in 18 innings of regional play thus far. Very surprised that the bats haven't even been close to warm thus far. GMan 3,569 Report Share Posted June 2, 2013 UVA's bats need hats. Bats cold. Hats keep bats warm.

GMan 3,569 Report Share Posted June 2, 2013 But you have to score to win...that's what I had to explain to my wife after watching VT struggle at the plate on Friday.
Deleted Account 5,203 Author Report Share Posted June 3, 2013 UVA wins the Charlottesville Regional! Scored 11 unanswered runs to top Elon again, 11-3. VT eliminated as Oklahoma wins Blacksburg Regional by beating VT 10-4. In other news: (1) #1 overall seed UNC loses to FAU, will play an elimination game tomorrow. (2) #2 overall seed Vanderbilt is blanked by GT, will play an elimination game tomorrow. (3) Central Arkansas, a 4-seed, up on Miss. St. now. Elimination game may be pending. Winner faces UVA next week.
EH31 2,532 Report Share Posted June 3, 2013 A strong effort by Liberty starting pitcher Trey Lambert and four hits by second baseman Bryan Aanderud, helped push the Liberty Flames past the Clemson Tigers, 3-1, Sunday afternoon in a Columbia, S.C. Regional elimination game at Carolina Stadium. Lambert moves to 8-3 on the year, allowing one run on seven hits during his 7 2/3 innings of work. He struck out one and walked two batters. However, the key for the right-hander was that he stranded two Tigers at third base and three at second base. Trey Lambert graduated from Tazewell in 2009. Deleted Account 5,203 Author Report Share Posted June 3, 2013 Impressive show for our local boy. Liberty goes again today, resuming their elimination game with South Carolina. South Carolina was leading in the 5th when play was suspended yesterday.
Deleted Account 5,203 Author Report Share Posted June 10, 2013 (edited) I feel like UVA's a terminal patient on life support. Blown out by Mississippi State on Saturday: 11 runs, 20 hits for the Bulldogs. 4 errors for the Hoos. Down 5-3 in the bottom of the 7th when the elements suspended play. We resume play today. The Bulldogs deserve to win this series. UVA had a chance in the top of the 7th, but left 2 in scoring position after scoring 2. IF UVA pulls the miracle off, Game 3 would be played immediately after Game 2. But the weather in Charlottesville is supposed to be pretty much awful through Wednesday. If the series does not complete, the NCAA Selection Committee decides who goes to Omaha. UVA's best chance is to come back in Game 2, then build any lead in Game 3 and have the elements suspend it for good. Deleted Account 5,203 Author Report Share Posted June 10, 2013 End up losing a heartbreaker 6-5. UVA rallied from 6-3 in the 9th with 2 outs, but one step slow on a chopper to 3rd. Left men on 1st and 2nd. Congrats to MSU...just painful to have it end this way. Should be in great shape next year. Loaded with freshmen and sophomores.
