sixcat 2,942 Report Share Posted August 25, 2013 Galax throttled Carroll 44-3. The halftime score was 41-3 and Galax played younger players and testing kids in other spots on the field the entire second half. Galax is a little better then I thought they would be but Carroll is MUCH worse. Carroll has a very good QB but no size up front and no team speed. All of the receivers were rounding off routes to as bad an extent I have ever seen allowing DB's to choose their ground. It appeared Carroll had fewer than 40 players on the roster. That is pitiful for a school of that size! Galax had three backs with over 100 yard rushing. Steven Peoples had nearly 100 yards on 2 catches out of a pistol type formation. Keyshawn Brown played very well at QB. Galax didn't turn the football over. Galax was very impressive for this early in the year. Hopefully, they can build on this, stay healthy and continue to improve throughout the season. If they do that, they will have something to say late in the season. sixcat 2,942 Author Report Share Posted August 30, 2013 Kids in Hillsville are farming and no time to play football. The funny thing is, a lot of people in this area have always said Carroll's athletic programs across the board are largely concentrated around a small radius around Hillsville. For the first time I can ever remember, someone from the athletic department finally admitted as much. In the Galax Gazette football preview section, head football coach Tom Hale was quoted as saying "We've got 1,200 students but we don't draw athletes from 1,200 students". "With some exceptions, most of Carroll's athletes come from a small radius around Hillsville and the corridor between the town and the Galax city limits". The first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem!
RoughNeck69 11 Report Share Posted August 31, 2013 Just once I wish Hale would be man enough to blame himself. No one in the county wants to play for him and that's no bias that's just cold hard facts. RoughNeck69
