sixcat 2,919 Report Share Posted August 22, 2023 When I lived in Roanoke, a lot of the old-timers talked about how dominant that PH defense was. Incidentally, former Bluefield legend Merrill Gainer was head coach and a young Willis White was an assistant on the coaching staff. Believe it or not, that was the first football state championship for any Roanoke area high school since 1957 and no Roanoke area high school would win another state championship until Salem in 1996.
