edrforshey 27 Report Share Posted May 7, 2004 will play Martinsburg on Oct. 1 at Bluefield. Its not listed on the Bluefield schedule on the WVSSAC site yet. Can someone please confirm if this is true or not?
swva_fan 94 Report Share Posted May 7, 2004 That would be a good match-up for Bluefield if true.
Bluefield_Rules 46 Report Share Posted May 7, 2004 What an exciting challenge such a game would be for Bluefield. Martinsburg's pass happy offense would provide a huge challenge to the Beavers pass defense. Last season the only team in AAA that I thought Bluefield couldn't match up well against was Martinsburg b/c of their outstanding passing attack. At least Barrett is gone at WR, but the QB, Sowers, does return with some weapons around him...
Bluefield_Rules 46 Report Share Posted May 7, 2004 The school's website doesn't have the game listed on the schedule as of yet, but that doesn't mean it hasn't been scheduled...
Bluefield_Rules 46 Report Share Posted May 7, 2004 Some Martinsburg fans have confirmed that in fact the game is officially scheduled. As a Bluefield fan this is very exciting and further proof the Beavers duck no one...
GMan 3,569 Report Share Posted May 7, 2004 Well, I guess that means there won't be two Graham-Beaver games next year as I had heard possible rumors of from a fairly reliable source. Â HMMM, maybe Bluefield is ducking someone....
Bluefield_Rules 46 Report Share Posted May 7, 2004 G, Â Did you buy into that ridiculous rumor of two Beaver/Graham games? lol
footballfreak 10 Report Share Posted May 8, 2004 i know they want a hard schedule but they are making a big mistake picking up martinsburg. martinsburg will pick bluefield apart with their passing game. bluefield will have a decent team but they wont be better then the last 2 years. martinsburg is just too powerful for bluefield. bluefield is just outmatched. in my oppinion bluefield will get crushed, but ya never know what might happen. Bluefield_Rules 46 Report Share Posted May 8, 2004 Yup, and we all thought Beckley would crush Bluefield in hoops this past year too and look what happened. I'd rather play Martinsburg than a cupcake any day. The chances are we'll lose, but the Beavers will show up and give it all they've got. And win or lose, they'll be the better for it come playoff time...
GMan 3,569 Report Share Posted May 8, 2004 BR...when it comes from one of the coaches, you kind of figure that there must be some truth to it.
Bluefield_Rules 46 Report Share Posted May 8, 2004 One of the coaches? Wow. Well I'm glad it didn't happen. One of the things that makes the football version of Beaver/Graham so special is that fact it only happens once a year.
