Bluefield_Rules 46 Report Share Posted October 9, 2004 One word can describe the feeling for Bluefield in Welch, hate! I know there are a lot of hatred filled rivalries around the area, but at no place is a single team hated more so than Bluefield in Welch. The entire county will turn out next Friday night with pitchforks and torches waiting on Bluefield's arrival. They preach if you beat no one else beat Bluefield 24/7 in McDowell County. So it's always a fun trip to Welch. The MV players have been talking and looking forward to this game since preseason practice started and before. During their preseason media spotlights all they wanted to talk about was Bluefield. However, I’m confident that if Bluefield plays as they’re capable they’ll be fine. tom 10 Report Share Posted October 9, 2004 i remember in 92 i think, Mt View beat the Beavs at Mt View, they had a huge rb/fb, cant remember his name but he was a horse, anyways,after the game some 'individuals' insulted my wife and in the 'pit' their is really one way out and i had to actually fight twice to get outta there and back to the car. 2 seperate fist fights within 30 yrds just to get out of that hole and hardly no police at all. we lost the game and i won the fights but i swore id never go back into that dump and so far i havent..thank goodness Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

convertedbeaver 10 Report Share Posted October 9, 2004 its rough down there were talking the middle of the field is all dirt with grass around the edge. and the bleachers are smaller than the ones last night. ohh and did i mention that the field is at the bottom of a valley where its gets colder than a polar bear's toenail!!! thats what i remember of the field down there when i played. and im sure the county dosent have enough money to keep it up. its really sad for the players because they have a good team and not the facilities to go along with. due to all the flooding in the past. 90bhsgrad 10 Report Share Posted October 9, 2004 That place is a dump!!!There's no parking or seating and there's always a group of MV fans on the away side starting trouble!! My junior year we played down there and a teammate of mine almost got in a fight with someone in the stands, and we had to get a police escort out! BeaverBeliever 10 Report Share Posted October 9, 2004 Mt. View's field is about one of the worst places I've been to for a game. NO parking at all... Unless you park in the ditch alongside the road. Last time me and the family were there was '99 and If I remember correctly, there was a huge dip in the field. Its a shame that place is not taken better care of by the state, county and city of Welch. I'm sorry people but Bluefield has spoiled me on high school football especially at Mitchell Stadium. Sources 10 Report Share Posted October 9, 2004 Calling Mount View's facilities poor is an understatement. When we played down there, it was a mad house. The locker rooms are pathetic with nowhere to sit or dress, not to mention the toilets with no stalls and the water heater, which was propped up on some center blocks. bhsbeaver 10 Report Share Posted October 10, 2004 Just a warning to all beaver fans going to the game... you're car may be keyed, tires may be slashed, and as you leave the stadium if you see a rock coming towards your car, don't worry... this is normal at mount view! shadyfan 10 Report Share Posted October 10, 2004 the beavers should dominate the knights i know it's a big game for mt. view and a tough place to play but shady ran all over the knights they held them to 19 yards total offense just 2 weeks ago and we know how the beavers handed it to shady so this should be a 40 plus point win easy but coach simon should pull his starters as quick as possible considering the thugs the knights have good luck and safe a safe trip LOL!!!
