Sad because those stadiums are so nice, clean, precise and new, but they committed the one cardinal sin in rules for designing stadiums and that is........Bleachers far back from the playing surface. If you are going to do that, you have to build UP and have the bleachers rise quickly from the playing surface like at Mitchell Stadium. Up there, they have that old little non-regulation track between the field and bleachers, but their bleachers are immediately elevated and you have to go up a pretty decent way to get to the first row, so this kind of overcomes the distance.

Cinci and South Florida nodded up at 7 a piece in late first quarter

Well, this thing is usually up by the time I post, but it wasn't up yet, so what the heck. Post them here. P.S. I know the game hasn't started yet, but I heard Graham just scored on Lee High.

No, Uncle Percy did a good job. I was being tic about Graham and Lee as was Uncle Percy.

Sir, that's how it's done

Just read where SMU offered Dykes a big extension due to the TCU and Texas Tech rumors. I'm sure good Ole dumbWhit is late to this party as well, and we can pretty much scratch Dykes off the list.
-
Those dumb a$$es shouldn't have to drive 60 minutes with only a couple of months left before signing day to decide whether they are going to offer him or not. The evidence has been there for 2 years. If Notre Dame can see it, well......I trust their judgment over Tech, and it's another Fuente failure that they are this late in the game.. Hopefully, when talking about VT coaches coming up to Mount Mitchell, you meant Sonny Dykes or Jeff Grimes were flying in from Texas. Just irritates the heck out of me. Another slap in the face to Southwest VA by good Fu. Now, if the Hokies were to nail down Sonny Dykes, then I'm sold on Bradshaw in that system. Dude could possibly have absolute field days full of fireworks in that offense. Now that I think about it, just any modern offense of which the old offensive genius "Fu" is inept with would do.

Yea, that's the way I interpreted and predict, and I'm sure everyone else does as well. A sure win for Lee High up at Mitchell Stadium.

My wife just hit the laugh button on that one.

Special Coach, Special Man, Special Person. The world needs a lot more Doug Hubbards. Special place up above with the football Gods for a guy like Hubbard when his number's called.

I know it's a sour note and Appo fans say otherwise, but I think on a neutral field in 2019, that Graham and Appo game may be much different, and Graham would have had a good chance ot have another state-semi win. I watched that game and I swear by it (my opinion only) Graham got jobbed down there at Appo.

Will be out of town in Myrtle Beach. Will run a HDMI cable from my laptop to my BigScreen and hope for the best. I feel pretty confident that we'll smack the taste out of the E. Montgomery's mouth.

SwvaOG, I respect your opinion, but disagree. I think Union is certainly on the level of Graham and they have surpassed Richlands. Union just beat Graham roughly 6 or so months ago and probably outplayed Graham a couple months ago. I think Graham's athleticism helps them or arguably gives them a bit more of advantage at the state level because of the ability to pass and run. But, I think the Bears are right there, but I would kind of agree on one thing. Union, even though right there on Graham's level seems to be (keyword- seems to be) in my opinion, a bit further from a state title legitimate chance. I think that is due to Union's inability to throw it efficiently. Look man, I'm no coach and don't claim to be, but I have common sense. Common sense tells me if I'm Union's staff, I'm going to travel for a week somewhere in the United States next summer, and I'm going to study and learn a short-intermediate efficient passing game and I'm going to work in at least SOME of that come next fall. Turner is always going to be run oriented and that's cool, but man, they've gone so "rightwing" conservative as it relates to the run that it's not funny. But, I think many are misjudging Abingdon. Abingdon is LEGIT this year. Legit as in, they have a very good chance to play in the Class 3 state semifinals. They are actually that good and I get the vibe that some in the regional area, especially some from Union are viewing Abingdon in the scope of the past. In the past, they were pretty good, had a good chance to win the game over Union, etc, but for sure, no more than 1 win in the playoffs in Class 3 and their gone. This isn't the case this year. This Abingdon team is good enough to win the region. Christiansburg also right there of course. BigW, as for Appo not being in Graham's way in 2018. There's two ways to look at that. Graham was in Appo's and everyone elses way. That Graham of 2018, by season's end, was right there and arguably better than, at least equally as good as all of the other Appo title teams in my opinion. What I'm getting at is, it wouldn't have mattered that year if Appo would have "been on". They wouldn't have beat that Graham team with Allen and so many other talented kids. I think the Region Title Game is Graham vs Union and I think it will be a dogfight. I could be wrong.

No way to know, but if guessing, my mind goes to coaches who would be leaving Because they have done Well, so they would be making a jump UP. Then, the thought goes to coaches with college connections. Luke Owen's comes to mind.

That's for in state. Out of state, if living with parent, kid can play. And........according to the fellow I spoke with, he's better than his brother. Again, purely what I was told. I certainly haven't seen the kid play, but the gentlemen told me he is actually BETTER than his brother, and I remember his brother. His brother Jamorya Cousin I think rushed for around 2,000 yds two times at Graham, and he was the real deal. All-Stater, so IF, again...big IF it is true, he's not the kind of kid that's going to just be on the kickoff team. He's an instant contributor. I'm just writing exactly what I was told. I have ZERO idea if the above is true or false, but the guy that told me this is the same one that told me about the Clements kid coming to Graham, and that was early on (before Clements actually got to Graham). -
One of my customers at work walks in to get a prescription filled, he's a regular, and he has a GMen hat on. We talk about football and Grahams chances/outlook and Giles chances/outlook. Then he drops some knowledge. He tells me the younger brother of former Graham ALL State running back Cousins (from a few years back) has moved back to Bluefield from the Charlotte area and will be on the field Friday night against Lee High. He did tell me "it's what he heard." He didn't sound 100% for certain. If, and again, a big IF the above is true, well, the Gmen have likely added some more talent to their already abundant arsenal. P.S. This is the same customer that told me early on about the Clements kid coming to Graham, so he at least has a decent track record.

Billy Joel (circa 1979) agrees with you, but adds you also may be right.

If it was not Covid, it would be the first time I've seen a team cancel a playoff game for something other than Covid in.....well.......decades. I'm sure it's happened, but I can't recall one in recent memory.
-
I started a thread on this very issue. I knew somebody, somewhere, would get burned come playoff time and their season would abruptly end. Covington's would have ended anyway by mid way through the 2nd quarter Thursday night against a far better team in Wytheville. Will write it again. For any High School Football Player who is vax'd. Go on about your business. You can be around anyone with Covid and still practice and play and not quarantine. If you are a High School Football Player who has not been vax'd, STAY the HE** away from little Johnny or little Jenny who doesn't play football in your English or Science Class. 6 feet and wear a mask and just to be safe, stay 10 feet. When I write safe, I am not talking about getting Covid or safety in a "Covid" way. I'm talking about staying safe as in......you are not one of those counted as "exposed" when little Johnny or little Jenny goes to school all day with a cough and a fever and doesn't play football, but then gets a conscience at about 2 pm and calls home, and after they call, they go straight to the ER for a Covid test. If you are an unvaxed player, STAY away from other humans outside of the obvious football practice and games as much as you possibly can. You do NOT want to be one of those counted as exposed when the contact tracing is done, because if you are, you are setting down, and it might be enough to set your entire team down and end their season very quickly (all done at Covington within about a 30 minute timeframe-season over). Guarantee you we get at least one more team in southwestern virginia or southern wv that gets burned. Of all the times to have your head on a swivel if you are an unvaxd player, this is the time. Because at this point, the mistake doesn't cost you one football game. It costs you your season.
