  1. 27-21 GC over Grayson Co.......2 of Gate Citys TDs came against their 2nd and 3rd string late in the first half. Gonna be a LONG season for GC. Half their players didn't even dress out tonight due to being gimped up...then starting QB went down in 3rd qtr for what I do not know yet. Also a good chance we lost our best lineman to a hip injury tonight. On top of playing with no heart and no discipline the boys were dropping off like flies. I'm thinking the scrimmage against Betsy was fools gold. Took 2 plays for Grayson to put the ball in the end zone. Their starters out players out starters....no comparison
  2. I just posted a 3rd link that I found but I think they are mostly the same minus the Bama helmet. And I reposted another link for the 2nd link that works better. Go back and take a look. Some of them I really like.....others not so fond of. Gators, Kansas, Ole Miss, UCLA, OK State, PSU, and VT stood out alot to me. I'm not a big fan of a white helmet but the Bama one did look pretty sweet
  3. http://mweb.cbssports.com/ncaaf/eye-on-college-football/25079020/look-concept-helmet-designs-for-college-teams http://www.charlessollarsconcepts.com/ncaa-helmet-concepts/ http://fanbuzz.com/story/designer-releases-awesome-helmet-concepts-for-college-football-teams/ I haven't been to the designers actual page but thought some of yall might enjoy looking at these.
  4. I dread seeing GCs secondary match up against them....too many mismatches. Can only hope for 1 of 2 things: our D line plays great and the QB has heels to Jesus all night long so he doesn't get to see those giraffes running down the field. OR we let Collier and McClung play the rover position in a dual safety set and hope they make some plays on the ball. Could be ugly for GCs undersized secondary. You don't see teams with that size at WR in high school. Heck for that matter you don't see that size in the NFL....maybe one player on the whole roster that tall at WR. This Union bunch has a chance to be very special no doubt.
  5. I'll go ahead and make an appointment for a stint!! Lol. Holy crap batman!!
  6. Haha unfortunately I won't be able to do that due to work. So it's like a mom and pop type restaurant? I may try my luck after I get off work
  7. Thanks to yall i'm starving!! Theres not enough food in Hiltons to even slow me down. If i leave extra early to eat at the bearded moose when we play in a couple weeks it better be worth it! I've never heard of the place
  8. Might have to shade a generous area around Roanoke and go slightly east of there (and by that I mean maybe 1/8 of an inch on the shirt scale) then go southwest following the Floyd and Carroll County line til you hit the NC border. Maybe a hairs worth north of Roanoke just so you can see the word "Roanoke" on the shirt then go northwest til you hit the WV border so I guess it would end around Craig County. That would leave the rest of Southwest VA....thats how I see it in my mind which is clearly just my opinion.
  9. exactly what I had on my mind. A picture of the state of Virginia on the front and the southwestern portion shaded in and a saying something similar to "Gridiron Tradition" then on the back have a big collage of all the mascots of the southwestern VA teams and the team that you represent have it in color. Maybe another short saying on the back like "Bringing Smashmouth football to the rest of VA since (year of first state title game)"
  10. Gate City at 9-1 is equally as bad. If we didn't have Bluefield and Sullivan South on our schedule i would call it highly unlikely but still a chance. Gretna at 2-8?!?! Woahh....i just now seen that. Think that may be feasible for them this year?
  11. It just adds more fuel to the fire for the boys at this end of the state. I may make some Southwestern VA football shirts and go to Salem this year whether or not GC makes it (not likely) just to support this end of the state. Once my team is out of contentions I'm all about bringing the jewelry back to within yelling distance
  12. Much more reasonable looking rankings here! I agree with alot of it....however I'd have GC between the 9-12 spot and probably move Union into the 4 or 5 spot. Wouldn't be a bit afraid to put Ridgeview in the 9-12 spot either. But that will all come out in the wash after about week 8 or so. The real top 8 or top 10 will emerge
  13. That bunch is sorry as whale sh*t!! Again proving that they think anything below Roanoke is nonexistent..... pathetic!!
  14. I agree with you 100% on the schedule strength being way tougher in the SEC and Pac-12. But with Ohio State winning it last year is there a chance that they get the nod with one loss over another 1 loss team from other conferences? Guess it would depend on how the panel of judges see it. (Cant really remember how they did it last year) I'd like to think ND can knock USC out of it when they play late in the season but I just don't see it happening. They have a better shot at knocking off GT or Clemson in my opinion except for the fact the Clemson game is at Clemson.
  15. Yea GT's defense seems to be their achilles heel every year. Their offense hardly ever sputters. However they looked great in their bowl game to end the season. That's probably true about Clemson with their Line....just felt like maybe lack of experience would give GT the upper hand. I didn't even think about FSU in my top 4....just thought maybe there was too much inexperience at QB for them to make it past the other top teams in ACC. And i noticed you didn't have Ohio State in the mix for the playoff. What do you have going on in that conference for the buckeyes or Michigan State neither one making it?
  16. Evil is that joker that sits at the throne in Michigan now. When that man smiles I see destruction for some reason. But maybe he will break up the monotony of Ohio State winning their conference every year by the time his 3rd year in Michigan rolls around.
  17. Didn't Clemson lose alot of starters on their offensive and defensive line? I hadn't checked but that's what I had heard. That's why I chose GT over them in the ACC.
  18. I think I'm gonna go with: 1) Ohio St 2) TCU 3) Auburn (possibly LSU) 4) USC/Georgia Tech <---(dark horse that's not so dark horse) Auburn over USC. They win the match up they should have got when they had Cadillac Williams and Brown at RB and had to "share" the title with USC. Hard to tell if Michigan St will show up and possibly put Ohio State out of business. And im also clueless as to whether LSU has their QB conundrum figured out. If they have an average QB leading the way I'd almost put them at the #3 spot outright. And as for me even considering GT....they impressed me last year and they return alot of talent and I always like picking somewhat of a dark horse.
  19. Fools will be fools. Hell for all you know I may be Catholic haha Buying your right to be a fan by going to school somewhere. ...yes that seems real legit on what it means to be a TRUE fan. Let me just get on the line and drop a few thousand into the ND program....I guess ill be a true fan that way since I've already earned my degree and won't be going back to school there. Get a grip man....minus one fluke year no one has had anything to be a bandwagon fan about with ND for the past 25 years. It's not like they have reeled off a half dozen titles in 10 years like Bama. (not too far fetched) Not sure if you watch any football but they haven't won it since 88. I've dealt with the drought and still enjoyed every season. I don't have to be represented by anyone or any team...I'm very well established. I don't have to pull out the "I graduated from _____" card to get respect or to try to impress or to thump my chest. They do represent what I like in every aspect of the game. Some fan either pissed in your wheaties back when Moby was a minner or God forbid somewhere in the past 100 years ND may have beaten your beloved team who you don't even mention. People either love or hate ND...and you obviously hate them. Bitterness from other fan bases makes it even better come football time. You sure your not the fella that poisoned those Oak trees at Toomers Corner down in Auburn? Sure seem like you might fit the bill...Alot of similarities!! And Thomas, there's always people who hate certain Universities. Bama, USC, Ohio State, Michigan, ND...etc etc. All of them share the same common recipe for attracting such hate (myself included on half of those teams)...... SUCCESS at some point or another....OR just good ol fashion rivalry of course
  20. What's everyone's thoughts on who's gonna make it to the final 4 playoff this year? And who do you have winning it all?
  21. No actually at the end of the day im very fortunate that it happened that way....thats my point!! Im a part of an awesome fan base and get to enjoy a great University. Wouldn't change it for the world. I was able to see many other teams play on the other few channels I had but they didn't interest me in the slightest. Even as a kid I loved their history and what ND stood for. My uncle instilled the interest in me for ND.....and I took it to another level as I got older and could understand more about the game. People always have some sort of ridiculous and completely idiotic comments when you don't root for the team they root for. If you cared as much about your team as you do about why I root for mine then in the end you wouldn't give a flying rats arss. Maybe your team is never televised or maybe they annually couldn't give Ray Charles stiff competition at a chess match.... maybe that's the thorn that's in your arse. Answer me this...whats the reason for who you like?
  22. Yea i wanted Everett to do well....he was a pretty classy kid. He was great when he was on....but when he was bad he just couldn't shake the monkey off his back. And i guess his biggest problem was holding on to the ball...too many turnovers. I was hoping to see him get to play on Sundays. From what I had heard he's like at best the 2nd or 3rd string QB at Florida State this year which I didn't expect with Winston gone. I had heard rumors Golson was going to LSU which I felt like would have been a good move for him....not sure what happened with that. By the numbers TCU should be able to compete with the best teams in the country this year.....but that's something I need to see for myself. Just like with ND....on paper it seems they should but they just haven't been able to put it together. They wasnt anywhere near National Championship caliber in 2012 but they managed to luck up in a few games a fell into the NC game. And granted...had Oregon and Kansas St both not lost in the same weekend I think they would have faired well against either one of those teams.....but they was just outmatched in every position in that NC game against Bama.
  23. I was guessing maybe 2 loss at the worst. Should be solid around mid-season. Mentioning QB play........LSU has had a rough drought at QB as of lately. I felt like they was national title caliber for the past 3 years...just didn't have a QB that could do anything at all. If they managed to scrape one up with Fournette at RB they will be hard to stop. That kid is special in the backfield and I think they have a whole stable of backs behind them. ND had a few people to pick them to make it to the playoffs but I sure don't see it. I'm blinded by the barely average seasons....i don't buy into it until I'm proved otherwise. They have alot of returning starters but injuries usually end up plaguing them. I'm worried about QB play with Zaire and the secondary defending the pass as usual. Hopefully Charlie Strong won't have Texas back to their prime when they meet them first game of the season. Another team I'm curious about this year is TCU....i don't think they lost hardly anyone. I wonder if this is the year that a team like TCU or Baylor can knock off the perennial power houses
  24. If anyone has the chance to slip up and bite them that's probably the game! I'd like to see Oscar Meyer leaving Blacksburg with his tail tucked...but one loss I don't think keeps them out of the playoffs unfortunately. I could be wrong but I think they still make it in just like last year.
  25. It's merely my opinion....but I thought Bama's QB play was their only weak point last year and might have been what kept them out of the National title game. He did good for the majority of the season....but still wasn't as solid as i felt he should have been. And ND as of today was bit by the injury bug as well. Made it all the way up until 3 weeks before season starts and possibly lost 2 players. Seems like they never make it into the season unscathed when it comes to all their starters being healthy....and they as well aren't all that deep. I've just got a weird got feeling that the buckeyes are gonna be really hard to stop again this year. I hope my gut is wrong...but they are loaded again
