  1. Are you talking about the video about how great Graham is and how Union is really the underdog Saturday? The one talking about how the GMen could stay up all night Friday celebrating their certain victory at The Park and they'd still cruise to an easy win? That one? I'll try to find it! 🙂
  2. I went back and watched the Tazewell/Union NFHS broadcast with the Tazewell Bulldog Radio commentary overlayed. Good job gentlemen! I think you strike the right tone in-between fair, independent and homerism. It's a balancing act to support your team without being obnoxious, and you guys are right in the middle. I appreciate the kind words for the Union players, fans and community. Glad you found everyone welcoming and easy to work with. I also want to compliment you on your passion for the Tazewell community and the players. Union and Tazewell definitely have that in common!
  3. 1st Reg championship game since 2002. Made it to semis in 2000, lost to Bath Co.
  4. I would not be surprised to see RC win this. The coaching staff seems to think the regular season matchup was "the one that got away." I think Honaker may be more talented overall, but not by much. RC will know exactly what to prepare for this time. This could be a classic.
  5. No, it's a public park in the middle of BSG. Bullitt Park, 301 E 1st St N, Big Stone Gap, VA 24219
  6. Yep. Time will tell, I suppose. Before it's over with, we'll probably here every name under the sun.
  7. Graham and Union match up really well this year. First time in a while that they may be equal on overall team speed and athletic ability. I give Union the edge on the line, but that's not a gimmie either. Unlike years past, I don't see Graham having the same level of dual threat at the QB spot. I understand that Clements is healthy and available this go around and that will be an obvious factor. I see the Bears focusing on the run with a possible spy on Clements from a rearranged defensive unit along with some periodic blitzes on the QB. I'm not sure how Clements will be utilized this week. I noticed some wildcat against GC, but I don't think that will be as affective against the Bears D. I see him getting productive yards from misdirection or catching out of the backfield. Bears will have to tackle well in space or he's going to the house. Defending the passing attack of Tazewell was incredibly helpful for Union, and will give them much more confidence defending the pass against Graham. Very interested to see the O and D strategy for the GMen this week. How do they change things around having Clements back? On the flip side, how will Union strategize on D to contain him? This will be a chess match for sure.
  8. Tazewell fans should be incredibly proud of their team. From the start, you could tell that they were ready to play and believed they could win. Creasy was spot on for the short and intermediate passing. I don't know how many long passes he tried, but he truly didn't have much time to wait for receivers to get down field. I think I was more impressed with the D. They were quick and swarmed to the ball. Dogs had their opportunities to take the lead, and the Bears had the opportunity to score more points. Combination of events prevented that for both teams. The INT at the goal line was a huge momentum swing to the Bears, and the final one of the game. Tazewell had a few swings earlier. Great game by both teams and thought it was pretty clean too. Would still love to know what the Tazewell lady was blessing the ref out over.
  9. Is 12-6 not a blowout?? haha Tazewell is playing hard today!
  10. Interesting scene just before Union's kickoff after the 2nd TD. Tazewell lady entered the gate, and was almost on the field giving the ref what for. It was bad enough that the refs directed Union coaching staff to call the police. The lad goes back into the stands, takes her toboggan off, covers up with a blanket, then takes her green sweatshirt off. Some Tazewell people met the cops on the ramp and started pointing towards the flagpole, seemingly indicating she "went that way." The lady put her toboggan back on and headed towards concessions. Police went the opposite direction. It was entertaining for a few minutes. Haha
  11. Great return on the kickoff to Graham 40 or so. Then log pass to 4 yd line. Muscled their way in from there.
  12. Be sure to give us a scouting report too!
  13. Suppose you are correct about Pulaski. Graham has taken care of most of the weaker teams the way they should have. If Union and Graham are fortunate enough to meet next week, I still dread it regardless of the schedule. Will be a tough out for sure.
  14. One thing to keep in mind. You don't get near as many holding or unsportsmanlike penalties when you're winning by 40 points. Graham hasn't had much competition since Pulaski. Union and Graham are very similar with the penalties and tight games usually bring them out.
  15. The pizza is excellent! I've never gotten it cold, but it would probably still be fine. My brother-in-law gets hotdogs every week. Popcorn is good. There are a lot of good restaurants in BSG though, if you want to go that route.
  16. I'm not going to pretend that Union is the only physical team out there, or that they're the only team that understands the word physicality. Graham has been pretty darn tough the last several years. I was actually surprised at how physical SH was. I expected them to be a little soft, but those LBs could lay the wood. I think what most Bear fans are truly saying is that since 2011, Union has been incredibly consistent in their competitiveness and physicality. Are they the most physical team each and every year?...no. Are they in most of the games they play...yes. Just like you mentioned about the Richlands kids expecting to win, I think the kids from BSG and Appy are the same way. I believe the kids from Graham are too. In order to have a successful program, you have to instill that belief in the players. Mind over matter and the power of positive thinking goes a long way.
  17. That's what I was wondering in my previous post. It's the playoffs, win or go home. Everyone is on the edge of their seat and hyping their team. Nothing wrong with that!
  18. Have to admit, never thought there would be this much chatter for this game. Feels like Tazewell/Graham, Tazewell/Richlands or Graham/Union. Think Union has been officially welcomed into the Taz Co family. We put the FUN in dysFUNctional. Maybe one day, Central can join.... yeah, right! 😂
  19. No, we don't, but he sure is a tough kid! He only weighs about 150, but he has absolutely laid some licks on opposing Ds this year.
  20. I've not seen that many IFs in a conditional statement since I took a programming class. Haha Just like I commented to the OP, I agree with that generally, but these kids at Union love to hit. Even Huff lowers his shoulders sometimes to hit someone when he could just dance around them so does Anderson. I'll put the burden back on you. Interview the kids at Union, and see if I deserve that free dinner. I'm a cheap date! 😉
  21. That's the oddity. The RBs, of course, but the lineman, QB and TEs also. In fact, the whole sideline lights up. As you mentioned, the WRs probably aren't so crazy about it, BUT they have put them in there as the recipient of the toss sweep before. So, fun for the whole family! Haha
  22. I agree with your statement overall, but I guess Union is an anomaly. Those kids get so excited when they get into that T. Over the years, several players have talked about how they like it in newspaper interviews.
