Tonight we're at Port St Lucie to watch game #20 as Tradition Prep hosts Coral Shores from the upper Florida Keys in Islamorada. It's an incredible 75° low humidity night in South Florida. Neither of these teams have much in the way of talent. Tradition is a new school and only in their 2nd year of varsity football. Hey, it's football though.🌴😎🌴
THE Benjamin School fans are a trip. The team makes a big play or scores, it's a polite golf clap. No band, no loud music on the PA. Of course, their athletic facilities were built with a generous donation from PGA great Jack Nicholas, so maybe it's a noise rule he requested. 🤔
It was 92° at kickoff and still 88° when we got to he car.

Tonight we're watching Pahokee at THE Benjamin School in Palm Beach. Lots of speed and talent in this one. We had a big storm move through an hour ago that dropped the temp to a muggy but manageable 76°.
Most of the public schools in Florida are terrible, unless they are supplemented by a booster club. The head coach at Boca Raton got a $1K raise to go from assistant to head coach this year. FAU coach Tom Herman said in an article this week that he couldn't believe how poorly these guys are paid.Â
It’s a small school but let’s not downplay the amount of truly great talent Turner had at his disposal. People seem to ding Phil bc he was blessed with talent but Tom wasn’t exactly playing with a bunch of scrubs either lol. Huff, his son, Travis Clark, etc……he had some serious talent in those coal camps.Â
Absolutely. Turner has my vote, but to act like he produced great teams out of thin air is a disservice to a lot of great players who came through the program.Â
One half of football completed in 50 minutes, with Pahokee taking the opening kick and going on an 80 yard drive that took 12:55. Shades of Appalachia 🌴😎🌴
It was nice seeing the kids from FPC so fired up early on, but their hopes died with a flurry of special teams errors that led to 16 quick points for Vero. Beautiful night for football though. A little windy, but 82 degrees and low (for South Florida) humidity.Â
No game for us tonight. Wanted to go up to Cocoa to watch Treasure Coast v Cocoa in one of the top games in the state tonight, but the weather looked stormy up that way and a lightning delay of any kind would have put us past midnight getting home. Our dog is an old boy and I hate to make him stay in that long without being let outside. We were going to watch Fort Pierce Central and Vero Beach instead, but we had 4 inches of rain this afternoon and the field is completely saturated, so they put it off until Monday at 6. It'll be three games for us next week...
