  1. Vero 19 Miami NW 13 Final Game took nearly 3 hours and 30 minutes because of penalties.
  2. Vero Beach 19 Miami Northwestern 13 2:15 left Miami NW ball on their own 45.
  3. Vero Beach 13 Miami Northwestern 13 End of 3rd Great game
  4. Miami Northwestern 13 Vero Beach 6 Half Vero with 2 Red Zone turnovers in the 1st quarter is the difference so far. Everybody I watch down here has guys who can run, but Miami Northwestern has several dudes with that extra gear.
  5. Vero 6 Miami Northwestern 0 End of 1st There are some grown men on this field tonight.
  6. In Vero Beach tonight for Miami Northwestern v Vero. It's 86 degrees at kickoff, but a nice breeze off the Atlantic makes it manageable.
  7. It was 84 at kickoff, and that was with a thunderstorm rolling through to "cool" it down. Really muggy though, with no air stirring. Western went on to a 14 - 10 win on a poorly drained saturated field that made the footing tough. Western has a lot of talent with three 4 star guys and two 3 star guts. Their QB (Davi Balfourt) is committed to VA Tech.
  8. On a steamy metro Miami night... Milton 7 Western 7 Half
  9. In Davie, FL tonight.... Milton, GA 7 Davie Western 0 5:37 1st
  10. Fort Pierce Central 7 Ocala Forest 7 Early 3rd
  11. Fort Pierce Central 7 Ocala Forest 0 2:09 2nd Here in The Fort on a stunning late August night in South Florida. Had some big storms roll by just close enough to cool things off about an hour before kickoff.
  12. Vero Beach 34 Palm Beach Dwyer 0 2:46 3rd Tomorrow will be Forest at Fort Pierce Central or Palm Bay Heritage at Jensen Beach.
  13. Vero Beach 27 Palm Beach Dwyer 0 9:46 3rd
  14. Vero Beach 20 Palm Beach Dwyer 0 Half Vero with 2 long TD passes called back, 90 yards in penalties and still rolling. Looking forward to seeing them next Friday against Miami Northwestern.
  15. Vero Beach 13 Palm Beach Dwyer 0 9:33 2nd
  16. Vero Beach 7 Palm Beach Dwyer 0 End of 1 VB also had two long TD passes called back. VB loaded up in the transfer portal this summer and are a legitimate title contender in their division.
  17. Great article, and makes me appreciate the fan passion back home, unlike down here where outside of a couple of schools, most games will be attended by 500 or less, no matter how good the teams are.
  18. * Worst field conditions - 1995 state title game at Nandua HS between PV and Northampton. It snowed several inches, and then warmed into the 60s with a lot of rain and then turned cold. It's preposterous that a state championship game was played in that quagmire. IIRC, PV assistant Jimmy Mitchell lost one of his shoes in the mud and had to pull it out. I went to a local K-Mart before the game and bought a pair of rubber boots to wear. * Worst stadiums - Cardinal Newman HS in West Palm Beach. The visitors side might have held 50 people, and the stands were angled so badly that you had to be standing on the top row to be able to see over the visiting team's players on the sideline. Even then, you couldn't see much of the field. We moved down to the end zone fence, which was about 50 ft away from the back of the end zone and was over 5 ft tall with wrapping the you couldn't see through on the other side of it. The top of the fence came up to my chin and I'm slightly over 6'1. * Claiborne Co TN (old location). Small stands with both teams on one side. Terrible sightlines and I mostly just saw the backs of the Claiborne Co players on the sideline.
  19. I appreciate all you've done. Living in Florida, it's been my lifeline to home during football season. 🌴😎🌴
  20. It'll be interesting to see how many fans The Hill brings to The Park. Most likely family members of players, cheerleaders and band, if they bring the band will be it. The last time I saw SHHS play was in a playoff game against Bradley Central a few years ago. I would have guess the actual paid attendance on the SHHS side was 300 or less. When Union goes to JC, they will have more fans.
  21. Back to games we'd like to see, I'd like to see some more out of state matchups. We had a local team (Port St Lucie) play a team from Colorado last year, but it was one of the Kickoff Classic games and I'd guess corporate sponsors and TV probably footed the bill for most of the travel. A friend of mine is the OL coach at Pensacola Catholic and they hosted a team from Oklahoma. My buddy said the team from Oklahoma footed their own travel expenses including charter buses, hotels and meals for the 770 mile trip. I realize no teams from SWVA are ever going to participate in anything like that, but it would be interesting to see some more games scheduled with TN teams besides Union, Gate City and Abingdon. I remember when Graham played Greeneville a couple of times.
  22. I highly recommend retirement. We've been all over the southeast watching games, and when we moved to south Florida it enabled us to catch 2 games a week because some of the schools here share city stadiums, so we wind up with a lot of Thursday games. An added bonus is finding some good hole in the wall restaurants when we go to games, like Dixie Fried Chicken in Belle Glade, which reminds me of the chicken they used to serve at the Patio in Pennington Gap. As for games I'd like to see, the Muck Bowl is still on my list. We could've went this year, but it was a mismatch and Pahokee smoked Glades Central. I'm hoping it'll be more competitive next year.
  23. And Graham had 2 pooch kickoffs to field that nearly ended in disaster. You have to get your players to get up there and call for a fair catch. Anyone know how many yards Clements wound up with?
  24. Finally got it to come up about 5 minutes after I posted it. Didn't want to make the drive up from Kingsport without a ticket. Sitting in the stands now. I miss Florida. 😕
  25. Aren't the tickets supposed to be on Gofan? I just went there and it says "no events" scheduled.
