What I think you may find is GC isn't going to play a shootout with RV. They will try to limit RV offensive reps by grinding out long drives and running the clock. Thus leading to a more low scoring game. Like the old saying goes, sometimes the best defense is a good offense. GC has the ability to sustain long clock grinding drives.
Yes. And when you turn the ball over numerous times they look even better. But Pulaski is a dang good football team. Well coached. Lots of team speed. And they don’t make many mistakes
Coach Reed(GC) apparently rejects Coach Amburgeys(Ab) post game handshake. What’s the drama there?
Nothing new here. Typical. Could’ve called that one.
Was a great game to watch. I’ve wondered all week how GC beat Richlands. Now I know. GC is pretty good. I was impressed with their heart and execution. They definitely had a good game plan. They will definitely win some more games this year. Abingdon won outright against a quality opponent. Lucas had a big night running the ball and Jadon Boothe was on target through the air.
My my takeaway from tonight. Don’t sleep on GC. Abingdon will not quit. They will keep coming at you
Abingdon pulls a Tennessee football and overlooks this one and loses 30-38 because just like Georgia States head coach said in the locker room at Gate City it just means more to us
Trust me Coach Amburgey doesn’t overlook any team. Neither do his team.
Gate City beating Richlands would be an upset. Probably not going to happen but it would be one. Burton over RV would be one also. But the upset pick for me will be Lebanon over Honaker 21-20
From what I was told by someone who was there, the starters only played the first half for both teams.
For the most part that is true. Some played into the 3rd but the vast majority of them were done at halftime for both teams. Also it seemed the play calling for both was very vanilla. Neither team seemed to show too much.
I was wondering about that Abingdon/Marion scrimmage. What was the score?
Abingdon looked sharp with their 1's in on offense and defense. The backups played very well and scored some TD's. For a first scrimmage they are certainly coming together as a complete unit.
First real game situation scrimmage for Abingdon this Friday at Marion. This will surely tell the tale on where they are and what to expect. They looked solid in their intra-squad but game situations will give us more of an idea on where they are from last season to this one. DL & DB's should be solid. New linebacking corps of solid athletes should tell the tale. Really want to see where they are with the QB situation.
Really. Talk about WAY-TO-EARLY Predictions. They haven't even started two-adays. So basically you are basing your predictions on either
The past games trends

Either way its probably too early. You never know what may transpire during two-adays and scrimmages. The injury bug hits in the wrong spot can totally flip this game
I'll be surprised if Graham is as good as everyone else thinks they are going to be. They lost a LOT from last season...going to be very difficult to repeat as State Champs, or even go 9-1 in the regular season.
Honest guess...7-3 during the regular season and knocked out in the 2nd round of the playoffs.

Knocked out by whom?
I would still perceive them to be better than anyone in the M7, as bad as I hate to say it. That just leaves Richlands. (Maybe Tazewell?)

Just curious...Bluefield , Richlands, & Union the three you're thinking????
Bluefield might be Grahams only loss. The G-Men are going to be really good again this season.
