It should be:
Boys:
(1) Gate City BYE
(2) Union vs. (7) Wise Central
(3) Lebanon vs. (6) Lee High
(4) John Battle vs. (5) Ridgeview
Girls:
(1) Ridgeview BYE
(2) Gate City vs. (7) Lebanon
(3) Union vs. (6) Lee High
(4) Wise Central vs. (5) John Battle
Tomorrow at higher seeds, Friday, Girls at Ridgeview, Boys at Gate City.

Would be nice if Grundy could sweep right on through the tournament and be our first regional opponent, since we already beat them twice in the regular season. Lol.
Although, I think Grundy gave us a very hard fought game the second time around at their place though.
-
What was Grundy's seed? That's your girls season over man. That sucks.
-
Apparently they show flashes of brilliance sometimes, they only lost to Union by 10 or so. When I saw that before we played them, I got worried, but we came out and annihilated them.
But yeah, as far as the CMC went, they did not win a single game.
-
Thanks for the explanation. :-)
-
I'm sort of a newbie when it comes to talking about 2A, but why is Martinsville called Mavahi?
Also, RiverRat 24, most definitely, your boys better not sleep on Lebanon. They're pretty stout. Although, Ridgeview was probably 10-15 points better than them, however it's hard to win when you're playing 5 on 8 out there... no offense intended for 1inStripes, who I hope was not officiating that game. Lol.
The Ridgeview-Lebanon game was the worst officiating game I have seen since the peak days of the Haysi-Council rivalry.
-
Updated the OP to provide links to brackets, schedules, results, etc.
-
It would... or play them on separate nights at least, with the boys and girls finals on the same court.
-
I support Ridgeview... I haven't been overly braggadocious on my team have I?
If we're talking about boys, I would be inclined to agree with you in regional play depending how the regional bracket is set up. I don't care who you are, when you come up against Martinsville or Dan River, it's about 99% probability that you're done.
Girls, on the other hand, arguably the four best teams in 2A in Virginia are all in the CMC.

So, based off these points and according to my projections, the CMC tournament first round will look something like this:
Boys:
(1) Gate City (bye)
(2) Union vs. (7) Wise Central
(3) Lebanon vs. (6) Lee High
(4) John Battle vs. (5) Ridgeview
edit: Girls tournament is still up in the air as far as the 2-4 seeds. Gate City should finish with 9 points, but the winner of Central/Union should also finish with 9 points. Gate City has the tiebreaker on Central, but if Union wins, they split in the regular season. Not sure how tiebreaks are broken other than for first (a one game playoff). I will predict that Central beats Union, therefore making this easier:
Girls:
(1) Ridgeview (bye)
(2) Gate City vs. (7) Lebanon
(3) Wise Central vs. (6) John Battle
(4) Union vs. (5) Lee High
-
Yes. As will Ridgeview girls.
-
I was told by a friend of mine from Gate City that the Clinch Mountain Conference tournaments are always held at the regular season champ's court. So, if that's the case we would host girls and Gate City would host boys. First round is played at higher seed.
2A West tournaments are at UVa-Wise and Virginia High, however I am not sure which one hosts which. Girls at Virginia High and boys at UVa-Wise is what I am thinking... but not entirely sure. Thinking again, first round would be at the higher seed.
-
Thank you. I think I tweeted last night that it was almost surreal to have won a conference championship in the first year of the school's history, but knew if we were going to do it, then girls basketball was probably our only shot.
Still can't believe we're going to go through all of conference play with only one loss.
I suspect we'll bow out in the conference tournament in the semis to Central, since they've taken two of three from us, but at least we have that regional berth and that's all I am worried about at the moment. :-)
-
Ridgeview clinched the CMC regular season championship tonight with a 65-31 win over Lebanon. So, this means we host the tournament, correct?
-
I absolutely agree as long as they're in 2A. But, if the rumor is true and they're dropping down to 1A, then the BDD is the best place for them.
That's what is so confusing about the VHSL now... this whole conference/district thing.
Grundy in the BDD but also the SEC. Lebanon in the SWD, but also the CMC. Marion in the Hogoheegee, but also the SEC.
-
I would agree. Plus it makes sense from a rivalry standpoint... Them and Gate City absolutely despise one another.
-
Probably so. Cause we beat Twin Valley both times pretty handily I think. And I think you guys are better than us.
-
That's what I am saying. This is how it's always been.
-
Ok, I am confused... Wasn't the regionals always 8 teams?
-
-
Ridgeview girls lost tonight to Central. The Gate City game Friday night will determine in all likelihood:
1. With a Ridgeview win, they should win the conference outright.
2. With a Gate City win, it most likely sets up a one game playoff.
-
They are in the Southwest DISTRICT... BUT, they're in the Clinch Mountain CONFERENCE. Once postseason tournaments start, they'll be playing the likes of Ridgeview, GC, Union etc... not Richlands, Tazewell, etc.
They're kind of like Grundy. Grundy is in the Black Diamond District, but in the SEC.
-
I know this is a southwest Virginia board, but felt this had to be shared for those that were unaware, and besides, Jenkins is as close to being in southwest Virginia without being in southwest Virginia.
http://usatodayhss.com/2016/jenkins-creech-scores-71-to-become-states-all-time-leading-scorer
Ridgeview "held" her to 35 points in the UVA-Wise tournament.
edit: To expand on this, the Lexington Herald Leader has a Creech watch tracker. Ridgeview provided her second lowest point total of the season. She scored 34 as her lowest.
-
How will Lebanon be seeded in the Clinch Mountain Conference tournament if they only played each of the other teams once?
