All the refs on this end of the state are awful, they anticipate calls, call ticky tack fouls, and miss the obvious. It hurts teams once they make it deeper in the post season. It's not just Richlands whose been getting "bad refs" it's all of swva. I've seen so many games called horribly both ways this season.
I don't hate Richlands, I respect them. But, I do hate Union and Va High.
If Union gets down they panic, as long as they can stay within striking distance they should be able to win. They've only lost to 3 teams, 2 during the Arbys and GC 3 times. BUT, if you can't make free throws, you don't win this time of the year. Union really struggles from the charity stripe. And if Graham has a crowd like they did vs GC last year it'll rattle Union. Im picking Graham.
GC is at least a 6 point favorite at home, McClung and Co are hard to keep up with when they are pushing the ball up the court. I see a 15 point win if the Devils can stay out of foul trouble.
No, that went to all the whiny fans from Gate City and Union...you know, the one's who bitch about everything even when their team beats the hell out of the other team.

I run this board how I want to run this board. I don't care what fan base you are from...win with class, lose with class. Simple rule. Don't make excuses why your team didn't win by 25 when they won by 22 and you put a Benny on their head to boot.
If you can't follow that rule, I can help you out...

Gameday.....................were you at the games last night? Just curious because I thought the GC fans were into the game the entire time. Union fans did come alive during the second half. First half they were comatose.
It is also kind of funny that you first starting talking about how badly Union would beat GC, and when that did not happen, you now are talking about the fan's participation. Pretty funny stuff. What is next.........uniform colors?
Really like how you lump all of GC fan's together and bash them all. We all have our bad apples, but not real smart to judge an entire fan base based on the actions of a few. I certainly do not judge all Union fans based on the two adult men, standing beside the GC cheerleaders last night, who were cursing and being very offensive to the GC players on the court. Bad apples. We all have them.
Serious question................why do you build a brand new gym, which is very nice, and only put in 7 bleachers on the visitor's side?
Both new Wise Co schools gyms are awful. I much rather watch a game anywhere else in swva than those two schools.
What I saw playing last night GC's JV probably played their middle schoolers. Union JV played the real deal. We weren't our best last night and GC got lucky. No luck will be had next time. Just like no luck will be had tonight. All skill being shown by the U at the U tonight. Hope we pack the gym so early nobody from GC gets in. You think it was hostile at Bullitt Park when we got the W. You haven't seen anything yet.
Friday night should produce the game of the night in Southwest Virginia. We are producing a great cycle of athletes in our two communities.
We proved to be great competitors in our first Arbys Classic against the team who won it all.
Gate City does not have the Herron kid back again. He was their spark.
I am expecting Union to take both games against Gate City this year in the regular season as well as win the JV championship simply because the run of athletes right now coming through our school are THE BEST in Southwest Virginia.
Not taking away anything from Gate City but we have also beat the Tennessee schools Tennessee High (very handily) and Sullivan East.
The best basketball is not being played in Northeast Tennessee this year but Southwest Virginia.
If there were a poll to be taken I feel confident we would be at the top
Good luck with that JV Boys championship. GC defeated Union by 10 at Union tonight. 44-34. I expect the same result in Varsity tomorrow night. Go Blue!
Girls: I look for GC to put the 2nd loss on RV this season. RV's lone loss is to Wise Central back before Christmas. A Wise Central team, GC was able to defeat at the buzzer without Jordan Houseright and Kaely Gose going down in the first half. GC wins it at the charity stripe late.

RV took Union into OT and let Battle squeek by on back to back nights. RV is anxious to make their existence known the the CMC but they'll have to wait until after tonight. RV suffers their 3rd loss in row. Though It'll be the biggest test in conference for GC so far. GC has broke the 80 point mark 3 games in a row. GC proves themselves tonight setting up for a dandy vs Union Friday night.
GC didn't look all that great last night vs John Battle. Only won by 13, but did manage to score 79 points. GCs defense will end up costing them unless they figure it out.
