  1. I'm not convinced that playing a #8 seed is a trophy by any means, I agree they earn it.
  2. Tru Blue 72

    0-10

That's pretty similar to what it use to be, but VHSL changed it all around and started going by the point system.
  3. There is no doubt Union is probably the strongest up front, but I don't think Richlands, Graham, or VH are push overs by any means. So how could you say teams in the region are really weak up front Offensively? Maybe not as strong as Union, but come on, let's be fair.
  4. But in reality, a number one should cruse against a number 8, just as 2 should have no problem with a number 7. At least in my suggestion there would be a chance for the lower seeds to have success. So what you're saying is if you win all your regular season games you earn a gimme. If you're number one you should have no problem beating the bottom four seeds, and if you screw up and loose to a number 8 it really makes your season feel lost. Could happen Friday night.
  5. 06 Richlands team would have the best chance of winning. That team had so much drive and desire. They played like they were on a mission behind enemy lines on every play of every game, and with their players I think Mance would find a way of beating Appo 2016.
  6. I'm a little crazy when it comes to playoff's because I think 1 should play 5; 2 play 6; 3 play 7; 4 play 8. Then the winner of 1&5 play the winner of 3 & 7; the winner of 2 & 6 play the winner of 4 & 8; the winner of those two games play each other. I think it would make for much more interesting games, and give the lesser teams a chance to win at least one game. I mean it just makes more sense to me, but VHSL never has done anything that makes sense.
  7. Haven't seen either team, but pulling for Ridgeview to win.
  8. Both teams played Richlands this year and Union was much stronger in line play. Graham is talented, but Richlands took them to overtime. Don't get me wrong, Graham is one heck of a team, but seeing both play, Union would have the upper hand in my opinion. Don't think they win by a great margin, but if both get through and meet up, Union will win this game. I'll go out on the limb and make an even bolder statement, if Richlands and Graham play again, Richlands will win, but that is a futuristic wish, and its one game at a time.
  9. Will Justus play in the Union Game (if you can give us this information) Will Mance continue to switch QB's
  10. Hope the players are not looking far down the road the way some of us are doing, could cause some problems for them if they are to focused on far away games instead of the game in front of them. Union has a better line than Graham on both sides of the ball, and if this match does come to fruition, Union will win, but both teams have to get there first.
  11. I think Union has proved that they are the team to beat, and if I look at their season, they should face Appo in the championship and have a good chance of winning it all, but I've seen the unexpected happen in the playoff's so many times. I think every team has to play one game at a time and be expecting the unexpected. I don't think anyone has what Union has, but I didn't think BBurg would win the title in their division last year, so you never know, one or two bad plays can cause an upset, so for anyone to win the title, they have to have their mind in every game and every play, but I guess that's why we play the games. I would love to see someone from our area win the title, and I would be cheering all the way for Union, or Graham, or anyone from our area in the championship, but come Friday I'm cheering for the Blues to pull off what seems to be the impossible.
  12. I've already apologized for my ignorance of the stats of that game, so moving on , I wish all the best, and hope to see a good game. I know Union should win on paper, Marion should have blown Richlands out on paper, Graham should have never been pushed to OT on paper, and no way VH looses on paper, boy I'm glad this game won't be played on paper. Hats off to all the Union players, coaches, and fans, you have had a great season and I hope it continues for all of you, but this is the playoff's and the games still have to be played and yes, anything can happen, even a Richlands win.
  13. You are right, I apologize for my ignorance to the game stats. Still think this is going to be one of the best and toughest games during the playoffs, and I'm not the only one who thinks Richlands will come out on top, after all it is the playoffs.
  14. Neither team is exactly the same as in the 2nd week of the season. Both have improved with experience, and yes Union has one of the best lines in the region, but Richlands can boast well of their line also. Take away the Mitchell punt return in the first game and you will notice that both lines were about equal. Richlands moved the ball well, just couldn't punch it in for the TD, and Union likewise found ways to move the ball especially on fourth down, but this was a pretty evenly matched game without that punt return. With the schedule Richlands has played, they have been here before, that's why I don't think this is going to be a blow out by Union. I think it will be nip and tuck the whole way and Mance and crew will find a way to come out on top. RHS 17 Union 14
  15. Forget about the stats from week 2. Both teams know what is at stake, win or go home. This is going to be the best game in the playoff until you get to the Championship in my opinion.
  16. Playing 2 QB's is hard on the rhythm of the offense, and I think the offense is more consistent with Moir at QB. Brown would be good at RB or WR and could open up a lot of options that other teams have not seen. I see this game coming down to the wire and maybe even overtime. These two teams have been giving us some of the best games over the last four years and it has been great to see. Throw out the record, hold onto your hat, and enjoy the atmosphere, I'm sure the Bullit will be rockin'. You don't want to leave this game until you make sure it is over. Wish the best for both teams, but I think Richlands pulls this out by a field goal. Richlands 17 Union 14 It's hard to beat a stout team two times in the same year, and the first game was just a warm up to what this one is going to be, but whoever wins will have to earn it on the field, regardless of the record and stats for the season. Can not wait for Friday night to get here.
  17. Back in the day Grundy was just as bad, no visitor bleachers, with everyone sitting on the same side. There was also a step incline from each goal line to the fifty. I mean you could stand on one goal line and have someone else stand on the other, and from mid thigh down was not visible. I was in the marching band at RHS and it was like marching uphill and down again. We had a lot of band members fall due to the terrain.
  18. You definitely will not be disappointed. Sorry 'bout the bleachers, but not as bad a some. Have a safe journey and wish you guys good luck and hope it is an injury free game.
  19. Tazewell just needs more players to come out. They will be a tough out next year, and if they keep building, and get more players, I look for them to be back in the hunt for the region in two years. Give them all the credit in the world, out manned in every game 'til now, in numbers and talent, but they had no quit in them. Hold your head up dawgs, good things are coming.
  20. Respect your feelings, but Graham has a lot of talent. I know Cam Allen personally and have watched him grow up. Always knew how much heart he had, and knew how much talent he had from little league on up, and Cook is a beast in space, so I'm really not convinced which team would win. I would hope Richlands would win but would still have to see the final tick of the clock to know for sure, and I think that would be a great game in the area that most fans would love to see. Usually we fans have to travel great distances to witness games of that caliber. Wish you guys the best and hope to see all of you in Mitchel Stadium.
  21. I would like to see GHS & RHS play again in the playoffs. Have to admit it was one of the best games we've seen this year, I mean overtime and both teams playing solid football. Can't imagine anyone not wanting to see another game with that intensity. I know its hard to beat a good team twice in the same year, but man wouldn't it be a good game. I for one hope to see it again.
  22. Hope it doesn't rain for this game. I know it doesn't affect the filed much, but just hate to set in the rain. Wish all the best and hope VH fans have a safe journey, should be a good game. RHS 17 VHS 14
  23. So give us your insight to "The Reason"
  24. Nick Colobro is a great coach and he didn't leave Tazewell for any other reason than the players not wanting to put forth the effort required by his system. He expects his players to pay their dues, and most of the players in Tazewell would not come out to lift this past summer, so there you have it. As for political situations in Richlands, its only one player who is kin to a couple of adults in the school system, and as so many have said, "one player should not make that much difference." Gate City/Richlands/Tazewell all will rebound, some faster than others, but to this RHS fan, its boring when you blow everyone out, and a close game is well worth the price of the ticket. I hope all area schools do well and we can enjoy close games for years to come.
