No. He’s just a sophomore that started for us as a freshman last year. He’ll get his offers in the near future.

Double that number and add 1.

How does the fans of Graham travel? Should the concessions prepare for a large crowd?
-
Both teams should be ready to perform! Graham seems to remind me of of 2016 team that was a machine. Could that 2016 team be beat...... many a good team lined up and went home with the “L” and a whooping at that. Appomattox will need to play their A game and and take care of the football. Graham is the champs but that don’t mean the Raiders ain’t coming for ya!!!!
-
Please don’t feel all Appomattox fans feel like that. We know there is still a lot of plays to play between now and hoisting any trophy.
-
Appo knows it’s getting much tougher very fast. Coach will have them grounded.
-
Appo guy here and I will say the quote on winning 4a is a LONG stretch! We are better than the beginning of the year but I still don’t feel we are what we were in our run of three titles. Good.....YEP!!!! That good???? Ugh??? Good enough to win it all???? Time will tell. 😉

This years Appomattox team is not is the same realm of past years. If I had to rank the 3 titles I would say: 2016 was our strongest team. They just destroyed teams throughout the playoffs and even in the title game. 2015 was strong and basically the 2016 team but younger with a few senior splashed in as starters. (Richlands was loaded that year we beat them OT) 2017 would be the ones that was most beatable. They jumped on Union early 20-0 and then survived a hostile crowd and tough Union D to win 23-20 I think. (Possibly the best game I was ever at) This 2019 team is young at positions but about 1/2 our line is seniors. Are they close to our 2017 team (2017 just had Javon Scruggs at QB and DB who basically just REFUSED to lose a game) ,..... I would say no. Are they tough in their own regards though.....yes. They have made great strides since their early loses to Buckingham and Heritage (two teams that should go deep in the playoffs and Heritage at the 3A level) Do I think Appomattox will walk the dog on any of the remaining teams...NO Do I feel they can win...YES Do they win the title.......They need to be healthy (due to small numbers) and they will need to win the turnover battle.

6 out of 10 might be a stretch. That Appo team wasn't the same team that demolished other in 2016 but they were still good. Our QB #1 just simply refused to lose games. Those that saw Appo play against RE LEE for the title witnessed that. We left the Park with a 3 point win but 7 of Unions points came very late. So late in that once the kicked the on sides kickoff out of bounds Appo just had to kneel it out. Like Ryan4VT said, that was one of the best environments I'll probably ever have the pleasure of being part of.

Hard to bet against Graham but I think I go for the upset here. If it's raining Friday that will slow Graham down some even though I think Richlands has turf.
-
Got to see two D talents on TV this weekend. The QB from Graham, Allen got disqualified on a Targeting call (which I thought was bad, if a QB is going to wait till late to slide then he isn't defenseless). Was cool seeing him out there for Purdue as a true freshman. Also saw Unions, James Mitchell make a big catch for Tech on their win over the Canes. Region C's, Javon Scruggs (Appomattox) made and interception in the end zone and returned it like 72 or 78 yards in a close game for Liberty. Nice to see our VA talent out dong well.

Trenton Adkins, is he even stoppable? Over 1000 yards in 3 games!
BoBob replied to Gridiron60's topic in SWVA Football
And that year in the state championship the opposing team tightened up on Davis and made Heritage beat them other ways and Heritage fell short of the ring that year. Best to develop some other game now rather than trying to find it later. -
The Richlands kicker just got offered a full ride from Marshall.

I'll start off by saying that the Appomattox vs Union playoff game in 2017 in Big Stone Gap was one of the best atmospheres I've experienced. They level of excitement and energy was simply on a different level. It literally was all of SWV vs Appomattox and I think there were a couple train whistles there (Giles and others). I know our fans traveled well (in my opinion away for the 4.5-5 hour car ride) and I thought we rivaled the noise coming from the the home side. It was just a great experience! I do feel like others said that it shouldn't be used against the opposing offense. One man with that whistle can take over a game as far as how the other team is able to play/communicate. Now, a fan base screaming, yelling, burning up cow bells.....that's different (to me) in being it takes a collective effort to really be loud then. I wasn't at the Giles Appo game years ago when it was said that Giles blew it while Appo was on offense so I cant comment of that (I've heard about it though, LOL) I do know they were told up here at one point they could bring it and blow it but only when the team came out, when they scored. I do know that they began blowing it other then those times and was told to abide by the rules or it / they would be removed. Good luck the the Bears and others down there. Maybe we'll see y'all again this year.

LOL!!! Think I'll watch my son play tonight.
-
Would LOVE to be down there for this game!!! This Appomattox fan is going with Union is a close one.
-
They are from year to year from my understanding. Also remember with D1 ball you can't offer partial scholarships, they are either full of nothing. Clemson I know has the kicker on a full ride and the punter on a full ride. The punter will be a freshman this upcoming year and was offered a full ride in HS from the Tigers.
-
And a lot of teams are giving scholarships to the guy getting them the football. Kicker and punters can't help yea if they dont get the snap. Without a doubt a kicker can be a weapon. If a offense has to start off at their 25 every time or worse yet you get a kid who can hang it up on the kickoff and drop it around the 10-5 yards line so the coverage in there when they catch it. No offense wants to start off inside their 10 each time after a team scores.
-
Don't like Specialists or don't think he was doing well. Arkansas offered full ride as well it appears.
-
I see that Jordan Stout was offered a full ride deal with Penn State. Leg like his deserves to be paid for.
-
And Appo then returned the KO for a TD which gave Radford the ball back directly so I don't think you can say they didn't get a possession. And the second one with the kickoff they recovered was in the last minutes or so and they scored with 11 seconds on the clock. I'd say the yardage was pretty much right.
-
Sorry to hear of loss. Prayers.
-
No idea about the fake kicks. Guess just to get in your head and to try to set you up for one that wasn't fake. I read somewhere that they had given up several long returns for TDs (one per game) so they went to that kinda kick off. I know I saw it in their hudl film from the scout games they send out. I really just think they were scared to really kick off to us. We've return quite a few this year and had some long returns that didn't make it all the way. Heck we almost returned the one right before the half. Got it to the 20 but there was no more time on the clock.
-
And they kicked off from our side of the 50 after that touchdown. And I'll add that they booted that one deep in the end zone. Squib kick would have been perfect there. I just think they were that afraid of our kickoff team.
