Yes. This coach wouldn't happen to have coached at a few more schools local would he? Ive been cussed a lot by coaches, but not nothing more than I deserved. Maybe told to get my $h*& together or something like that, but not the way I've heard them say this coach had talked to kids!!!! From what I have seen and heard the younger Blue Devils team, was pretty good this year

I've heard many people talk about a coach in particular!! Is it just his attitude and the way he is with kids or what? I've just heard a lot of people didn't like him!!! I will give Gate City this, they fight until the end, every game I have watched they have played hard and never give up!

If Central can slow down #11 Jenkins, its pretty much over. This kid is a good football player, and his speed is unmatched!!! I look for Central to bottle him up, and GC will have to rely on Edwards more at the FB position, and won't have the big play ability and will get down early and not have a chance to rebound! I am gonna have to agree with you on this! One of the toughest football teams I've seen in my time. I'll have to say Julius Jones was great, but the most under rated player to play at Powell Valley was on this team, and that was Matt McCoy. He wasn't flashy, but he could change the momentum of a game in a drop of a hat!! Overall team was just amazing.

We watched on Saturday mornings, around 9 and was home on the couch at 12 watching football and nursing any injuries, and then on Monday we always watched a little before we went out for practice!! We had some Mondays that was just helmet and shoulder pads, but as I got older those disappeared and we were full pads Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday!! Nothing like the good ol days!!! Definitely some of the best times of my life, playing with some of my life long best friends, that I still see and stay in contact with to this day!!!

I can remember playing in the good old days, and after you played Friday night, we went in Saturday morning and watched the game film. Sometimes it was embarrassing to see how dumb you looked on certain plays, but it definitely was worth it as far as improving football IQ, and showing you what you needed to do to improve!

I agree with you, but just saying from watching the game, the DE's definitely did not attack the OT........heck the whole defense didn't really attack anything that night. I will give it to #50 he played his tail off against Central!

Union came out trying to spread Central out, and Central done a pretty good job of keeping Union in check. I was pretty shocked, that we didn't see a lot more T backfield, and some quick pitches outside, to get Central chasing, and then bust it back up the middle to Lomax....... The passing game could be very efficient, and I believe Bunch has the ability to make throws, but this comes down to some of the WR's slowly jogging off the ball if the play is not to them, and then they know they have a chance of making a play, they come off the ball wide open.....I am not mentioning any names because its not just one receiver doing this. What happened to going all out, all the time, for your team, your buddies, your coaches, and your town, instead of being upset and not giving your all because you didn't get to make a highlight play??

I agree @Union_Fan, we had 3 guys engaging with the offensive line, the DE's were out of the play before it ever started. With a DE standing up, you basically just have to get in his way to block him, instead of engaging contact and pushing him out of the way. No matter what Central kicked Unions butt all over the field, and was the better team that night. I watched some of the Richlands game, and for the first quarter Union looked like world beaters, and then they start backing off, and not burying a team and finishing them off. I hope Union don't go to Abingdon with the same defensive scheme as they had against Central or Union will be in for a long night. I know you have to mix it up, but Union better come ready, Abingdon has a solid offensive line, good backs, and their passing game is not bad at all!!

I agree, and that is the reason I said 3 man front! It also didn't help having an undersized guy playing nose tackle.....No matter what, Central handed it to them in the running game, and basically for 4 full quarters.

They ran it at Central, and got blown off the ball, and never made any adjustments at all. I'm sorry but a 3 man front is not going to slow down a good running football team,! I'm sure a lot are missing Barry Jones right about now!!!

Union shouldn't have lost the game, but mishaps happen and Graham came away with the W! After the first touchdown to Bradshaw, I told my buddy that it would come down to who got the ball last, and who made fewer mistakes. Union could of sealed the game late, and had the fumble on the 13 yard line, and then the missed extra point hurt, but Union had every chance in the world to win this ball game, bad refs or not!!! The refs didn't lose the ball game, Union had more mistakes, and Graham capitalized on them. I am not sure what kind of coverage Union had late in the game on the last Graham TD, but I could of caught that ball and ran it in. My point being, is if my team is up 27-21 with under a minute to go, I am going into a prevent defense, and having my secondary no deeper than the 10 yard line, and keeping everything in front of me!! I'm no football coach, or any coach for that matter, but just my thoughts!! Hats of to #3 Lomax, the kid works his butt off, in the off season, and in season, and it definitely is showing, with 200+ rushing yards, and 3 touchdowns last night. Definitely can see that kid playing football on Saturday in college. Great ball game to watch, and I hope we see a rematch later in the season.

Politics...................Coaches talk and trade votes and nominations for each kid. Basically if I have a kid that is a good ball player all around for his team, maybe not score 15 ppg, and make the headlines a lot, but did contribute to his teams success, his coach will tell another coach I will nominate one of your kids, if you will nominate one of mine. I am not saying that the kids don't deserve the honor, some rightfully so, and some may be borderline. All Conference and All Region has always been about politics back in 2002 when I graduated it was the same way, and it will never change.

HAHAHA obviously so.......the officials they send to these games are going to end up letting a game get out of hand and a kid really hurt.

Well said Tigerman10!!! I feel if you are not able to make the right call in critical situations, you do not need to be officiating the game!!!! To much buddy/buddy in the AOA........commissioner makes sure his boys get the big games, and his boys are the best officials out there!!!

I am not saying the refs cost anybody a game, and dont think that refs can decide a game by missing or making calls. My dad has reffed for 25+ years, and we have always discussed that refs cant win or lose a game on a call, because at some point during a game each team had a chance to make plays to win the game. I just dont see how refs swallow their whistle during crucial moments of a game!!! Like stated above, if free throws are made, that doesn't matter, but the free throws was not made........so all in all, I hate it for Central, but that's the way it goes sometimes!!!! On to baseball they go!!!

Sorry sixcat, I misunderstood your last post!!! I agree, I am not saying this would of made Central win the ball game.......but with 2.1 seconds left and if a foul was called......you go to the line for 2 free throws for a chance to try and advance!!! They had other chances during the game to win, but it's a shame that referees swallow their whistles most of the time during a situation like this!!!

Central and Radford at Roanoke College has been delayed on the start due to Radford getting stuck in traffic!!! Moved from 5pm to 515pm is what I was told!! Is the Glenvar/Gate City game still on for tonight?
