  1. How do you all think the weather will hold up? Prediction: Graham has too much size and too much depth on the line of scrimmage for the Beavers and just as much, if not more speed. G - men should be able to push their way down the field Graham wins and turns the tables on Bluefield. It'll be Graham in Bluefield's head for a while.
  2. Well, he did have a 70+ yard TD called back...
  3. Abingdon Pulaski Carroll Co. Central Gate City Union Ridgeview Marion Virginia Craig Co. Fort Chiswell Glenvar Giles Grayson Narrows Hurley Twin Valley Castlewood Rye Cove Cumberland Gap East Mint Princeton Notre Dame Hawaii Honaker - 48 GW- 47 Graham- 54
  4. Last year's Graham vs Bluefield game linked here. https://www.facebook.com/watch/live/?ref=search&v=351359677088314
  5. I thought he was playing for the U.S. National Curling Team.
  6. Just saw a Facebook post that the game will be broadcast on video productions.
  7. Keys for Graham: Play smart, stay in your lanes, don't make stupid penalties. Get the mental block out of your head, you have beaten this team twice in a row now - Graham is the favorite, they need to believe that. Keys for Bluefield: Capitalize on your possessions, protect the Quarterback and play keep away from Graham. Hold on to the football.
  8. I sure hope so, but Riverheads is a machine and Cook-Cash will be one of the best players in 2A football this year, if not the best. (I still say Clements has a much better skill set, but CC is big and fast and has some elusiveness - tough combination for a HS kid). Riverheads always has a great line and run excellent blocking schemes. Tazewell is going to have to have great play from the linebackers and secondary to come up and make plays, without letting CC get behind them or to the edge. If he gets to the edge, he is gone. Tazewell had trouble keeping Carroll County from getting to the edge a few times for big gainers, those will be TD's for Riverheads, if that happens. Tazewell's passing offense is something that Riverheads hasn't seen much of, they're used to playing running teams. If the Bulldogs can spread them out and let Creasy pick them apart and capitalize on their possessions, I feel they can make a game of it. Creasy will have to get rid of the ball quick, Riverheads line is imposing and will bring a lot of pressure. Looking forward to seeing how the Bulldogs do. I'm hoping for a close game, like the one a couple 2 or 3 years back up at Riverheads, when Tazewell gave them all wanted.
  9. Tazewell's defense will have to come to play and they will have to capitalize on their possessions.
  10. This game will not be on nfhs, Will it be on WVmetronews again?
  11. I agree with all of this. I also think the depth on Graham's line this year is outstanding. They were rotating guys in and out quite a bit. I was impressed with # 75, the freshman, Kennard. He did a great job of getting pressure. Didn't notice a drop off when other guys were rotated in and out on that line. Graham's line has depth and quality depth, that is a big deal in 2A football. That will play into Graham's favor in close games late in the ball game. Offensively, they weren't protecting the QB very well on the passing plays at times. That could be due to a pretty stout D - Line for James Monroe, however I think they need to work on that a bit. The Walton kid plays with a lot of intensity on that D - Line also. This team has a lot of potential, I'm sure the Graham staff will get the most out of it.
  12. Will Jennings be back for the Bluefield game?
  13. Tazewell 14 Chilhowie 7 Averie Ziegler with a 65 yard td run. 3:53 2nd
  14. Tazewell 7 Chilhowie 7 Creasy to Taylor for 66 yard td.
  15. Bulldogs kick off at 7 vs Chilhowie. Middle School kicks things off at 5.
  16. Bluefield vs Abingdon about to get underway. Only 35 dressed for Bluefield.
  17. Yeah, Bluefield never pops up on NFHS unless they are the away team at somebody that does NFHS. Graham does NFHS at Mitchell. Graham vs. James Monroe will be on NFHS tomorrow!! I'm going to be in football heaven for the next 3 and a half months watching high school and college games. Thank the lord the season is finally here.
  18. Bumping this back up as the game draws closer. Bluefield and Graham both scrimmage at Mitchell this week. Bluefield has Abingdon Thursday and Graham has James Monroe on Friday.
  19. Tazewell travels well, this is true and has always been true. Tazewell has stuck with their team through good and bad times. Graham travels well to big games. The State games, if away, usually draw a big contingent from Graham. Being somewhat of a Graham fan and a Tazewell fan, I see it this way. Graham used to travel well when the competition level within the district was more evenly matched - perhaps traveling better then most of the others in the district, I remember some sizable crowds from Bluefield. ( 70's and 80's ....yes, I've been around a while_...Seems as if Graham of around 1989 to about 2004 was dominant and a lot of the fans quit going to district games, figuring they wouldn't be competitive. Then Graham became a cellar dwellar from about 2007-2014 and fans didn't go figuring it wasn't a good product on the field. I think they were disgruntled with what was going on with the program. The Graham crowds have gotten better lately, but I think some of the games aren't traveled well again because Graham has been dominating the district. That's how I see it anyway. They will show up in force come playoff time. Having a very good ball team has some pros and cons. I expect a huge crowd from Graham for the Bluefield game this year. I think the largest crowd I've seen at that game was around 14,000. Standing room only around the fences. Look at it this way. Graham brings more fans to one game, then some teams bring for an entire season. Not everybody goes to every game. Some folks only make it to one or 2 games. The Graham folks make sure that they make it to the big one. It's hard to have the biggest game of the season as the first game. It's like playing a state title game in game 1. The fans show back up come playoff time.
