Agree. Not sure how long Noel or Rizo are out, they should help when they are back. Pugalee is out for the season it appears. I thought the run defense did well.

#17 has 3 guys in front of him on the depth chart at rb. I was surprised to see him running the ball. Im sure they were working on blocking. #6 and #33 will probably be the backup rb's before #17. But I'm speculating.

Agree with your assessment. I agree with what you said about Isabelle. Graham looks like they may have a nasty defense again this season. They have size and strength up front, smart linebackers with good size and strength and a fast and talented secondary. They also have a little bit of depth on that D-Line. The running game should be solid. The QB play and passing game will be the key to their success. If that develops and comes along, they could make another run.

I think Tazewell was working on their routes with the younger receivers in their scrimmage with Radford. Harris was only targeted 3 or 4 times and sat out a lot of the scrimmage. It's hard to tell from the first scrimmage for Tazewell, Creasy did a good job of escaping pressure and making good throws. Several passes were dropped or just out of reach. The run game wasn't worked on much. Defensively, they held Radford in check pretty well, except for a couple of long Touchdown throws. Radford has some good looking athletes and I'm sure they were working on specifics also. We'll see how it goes next week. The Virginia High game being in that first week will be very telling for both teams.

Just finished watching Graham vs. Gate City. It appeared that in varsity action Graham out-scored Gate City 2 td's to 0. In JV, Gate City outscored Graham 1 TD to 0. Graham's defense is definitely ahead of the offense. Gate City managed a few gainers, but more often then not, they were stopped in the backfield and the QB was whistled down a lot on the passing plays (They wouldn't let the QB's get hit). Gate City's JV moved the ball well against Graham's JV. Clements scored 2 long TD's for Graham. It looked like Isabelle got quite a few carries in the scrimmage. I couldn't tell who was on the D-Line for Graham, they were wearing different #'s then what I am used to. Roberts was good, when he was in (didn't play him a bunch), I guess they are trying to get others ready. # 64 looked good and # 11 also # 23 played well on the D - Line. # 69 must be the kid from Texas, he got a good push on the line when he was in there. He will be good to come in on 3rd and short or just to spell some of the others. Clements only carried the ball 3 or 4 times and had the 2 td's. Like everybody else, they are a work in progress. The passing game did not look good for Graham, they need to work on that big time.

Final from Radford Varsity Radford 21 - Tazewell 0 JV Radford 7 Tazewell 0 Radford jv did have 2 interceptions returned for touchdowns that didn't count in the scrimmage. Couldn't tell much from the scrimmage. Harris was only targeted 2 or 3 times, he sat out most of the scrimmage. Most of Tazewells' plays were working on routes with the younger receivers. Defense gave up a couple of big plays. A lot of mistakes by both teams, typical first scrimmage.

Radford throws a td pass to a wide open receiver. Bulldogs have been content to work on the intermediate passing game. 90% of plays have been passes. In varsity play, it is 21-0 Radford, 28-0 overall.

Radford throws an INT on 1st down. Teams now playing 4 downs for first down play. Tazewell driving down and throws an INT at the Radford 16. Varsity score is 14-0 Radford 21-0 counting JV..

How is thr Graham scrimmage going?

Radford scores on a 45 yard td pass and the dogs once again go down to the 30 of Radford. After 60 plays, Radford 14 and Tazewell 0.

Bulldogs get to the Radford 30 on their next 10 plays. After 40 plays, it is Radford 7 - Bulldogs JV in for both teams.

Thought Graham started at 7?

Radford stalls at midfield in the 2nd offensive series

Radford punched it in from the 1 yard line on the 10th play of their first drive Tazewell drove to the Bobcat 30 before stalling. A good sign for the bulldogs was the dogs stopping the cats on the 1 for 4 consecutive plays in that first 10 play series

Dogs and Cats just a few minutes from starting.

If they have AA numbers, they should play AA.

I agree. They look to have good size and strength. They have a few speedster too. They could make another run at it, if they play their carda right

The scrimmage is not on the schedule of upcoming events for George Wythe on NFHS.

A lot of the coaches in Tazewell County are non-paid volunteers and go through a background check. Maybe Union does something similar.
