BigRV good point about playing without 2 two of your best players.  Your line is HUGE, no doubt but you have to give Bluefield’s defensive line at least a little credit on the job they did throughout the night. Keep in mind Bluefield was without I. Johnson who is only one of the top rated corner backs in the country and on the offensive side of the ball has a little to say as well.  Bluefield was also without their starting safety R. Brown and a couple of other tough kids.  So, you are right on the “candy and nuts” but this game could have clearly gone either way in a hurry.  Congrats to LB on getting it done though and good luck to both teams the rest of the season.

What people do not know is that LB was without their top 2 players as well. Bluefield will rebound and come back stronger after this tough loss.

footballfan99, I heart ya dude and respect what you heard, but I have heard exactly opposite. I've heard they aren't quite as good this year compared to the last three. If Bluefield Researcher says 35-7, that's concerning. He has connections and knows football at a level beyond you and me, so maybe it is LBs best team yet. I hope you guys are wrong (no offense). I just think Bluefield will go to to toe with em and win. It's gonna be fun to watch.

Absolutely, Its going to be a great game!

BR, Come on man, 35-7? Ain't no way.  Bluefield will win at Botty. LB is good again, but just a touch below where they were last year. Bluefield is slightly better in my opinion. Beavers 31, Bottytots 21. I hope Beaver slaps the taste out of their mouths. I'm skipping Giles-Graham, and heading down to watch the Beavers, then staying in the Burg to see if my Hokies can pull an upset over Furman on Saturday. I really think Bluefield will beat em.

From what I hear this is LB's best team yet, and I heard they are also extremely physical and big. LB 31-10

If what I’m hearing is true about the Beaver QB situation, they won’t come close to losing a game next season.

Do they play Botetourt again? Beavers could possibly lose that one again..

  5. I saw where Gage Bassham from Abingdon had an offer from ODU, and in an article posted on Appalachia Prep Combines website said he was moving to Lord Botetourt this Upcoming fall? Any truth to this? Do yall know anything about it?

This decision may not bode well for Heritage on Saturday. You know the coaches and kids from Botetourt are gonna be a little pissed when they take the field and it’s not at their house. And we’ve all seen what this Botetourt team can do with a bit of a chip on their shoulder. They shut down an outstanding bluefield team on the road when most people, myself included expected bluefield to win that game. They may be even more eager now to prove that they are not only the better team, but also deserved to play in front of their home crowd.

100% on that. So many people counted botty out in the Bluefield game, and botty messed them up. Botty will definitely have a chip on their shoulder.

I didn't get my info from vhsl website. Vhsl.org is vague on lots of things.

CLASS 2 SEMIFINAL: Radford will be at home next Saturday against either Graham or Richlands. Home field is determined by regional seeding (not Rating Scale average), unless both teams have the same seed.

I wish VHSL had a less vague website...

  8. One thing caught my eye this weekend, should LB have home-field advantage over Heritage in the 3A semi-final? They both had the same amount of points at 29.90, according to the VHSL website. I always thought the tiebreaker would go to the common opponents, where LB beat Northside 2 times to 1 and Heritage was 0-1 again Northside this year. Have any of yall had this happen to yall? Just something that caught my eye, and thought I would share. Currently, the game is slated to start at 2;30 pm at Lynchburg City Stadium.

  9. Who would yall expect to win the LB v Northside game? They have played twice, and are tied 1-1. I expect this one to be a fiery one and I believe, after watching Botty play the last Northside game, and the Abingdon game, LB will pull this one out, 35-16.

I am sure LB is very physical and I truly believe abingdon is an obvious underdog.  One can argue the whole 2a/3a thing forever and neither side will change their minds.  One advantage I see is that LB can’t really gauge what abingdon can/can’t do.  They see the early season losses including the hidden valley game so they think it’s a cakewalk.  Then they see the later season quality wins against union and Ridgeview and a little uncertainty has to creep in.  Abingdon will need to be playing at the top of their game and get some big plays early to have a shot.  As Rick Moranis told his team on Little Giants, you can beat anyone “one time”.

LB has had the toughest schedule in all of 3a. They will come prepared, and they will be physical at the point of attack. I’m sure Coach Harless will be able to gauge what Abington can or can’t do. Look at the Bluefield game as a prime example. LB will come to play, and will send Abingdon home, 55-16.

Yeh ill take the chocolate one please. I was expecting it to be a close game after seeing Richlands have some success on the ground when we dont have much of a running game. LB's running game is a completely different beast. But still shocked they got held to 3 points. What happened? Turnovers? Just good defense? I know they were limited in plays but with all those playmakers and only get 3 is quite shocking. Did LB have a lot of speed on defense?

LB was much more physical and owned the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball...
