  1. Well, in reference to the above post, 4th and 2 and the jet sweep comes and Ridgeview's defensive end is waiting on it and turns him inside, and Ridgeview with a huge stop.
  2. I'm amazed how Union runs the jet-toss sweep and it has to be seen time and time again on film, and the opponents defensive ends just continue to get beat to the outside. The same thing happened with Graham. I'm amazed by that. Credit the Bears for great execution, but that has to be scouted and seen on film during the week and I'm sure the coaches have told their kids to get wide (at DE), yet Union runs it so quick and blocks so well that the running back seems to get the edge the overwhelming majority of the time.
  3. I posted this earlier in the year about the Union QB after watching him in game one. He WILL, and Union will have far more gains in the passing game this year in BIG games that many years past. Well, with Graham, he was huge with the run, but had some critical 3rd down passes. On 3 3rd downs in this first quarter, and two of them 3rd and long, he through the ball right on the money for the first down. I know Lomax is big, but the QB is the key. He makes Every Big play when the opponent tries to take the momentum. He did it on the basketball floor. Kid is a winner. The difference in this Union team and many years past in my opinion, and I said this earlier in the year was the QB, and to expect Union is big games to be FAR more effective with the pass When they need to be. That's exactly what has happened through the first quarter of the Ridgeview Game.
  4. For the G-Men faithful, I read on VaPreps that Clarke County needs a game this weekend. It looks like they just opened up today. Quite a bit of distance between Bluefield and Berryville, about 4.5 hours driving time from one town to the other. It would also feature a top five 2A matchup with Clarke ranked 5th in the Virginia Preps Rankings and the G-Men ranked 1st in the state.
  5. A possible preview of the East State Semifinal game. Clarke County and possibly Buckingham in Region C to challenge Draft, and Poqouson, and possibly Thomas Jefferson and 3-0 Nottoway will have a go at King William in Region A. I have watched King William twice on NFHS and would be very surprised if Draft beats them. KW is for real.
  6. At least Riverheads Bleachers are not caved in or just crooked like New Kent's. Those Bleachers got that way after I had a meal at McDonalds a couple of years back and set on the left side in your view. I guess they still haven't fixed em
  7. Poquoson 27, New Kent 15, 4th qtr 11:41 left West Virginia 7, Oklahoma 0
  8. Poquoson 21, New Kent 15, 4th quarter
  9. I just don't understand why I haven't heard of this kid being highly recruited. He seems to me like a freakish athlete. Great length, great hands, great burst and stride. Heck of a player
  10. From New Kent, VA, 9:43 left in 2nd Quarter, Poquoson 21, New Kent 0
  11. Union is something else this year. I think Union would give Riverheads a run for their money. Same for Graham and Same for Appo. I guess I'm a Region C homer, but I think Appo would beat Riverheads if they lined up head to head and Appo was a full strength. It's my understanding Appo is much closer to full strength than 3 weeks or so ago. That Costo truly is some kind of a coach and there's no question about, but if they play Appomattox, the coaching advantage Riverheads has which happens in almost all of their matchups is immediately neutralized as Smith is right there with Costo. Then, it comes down to skill and talent and depth.
  12. I think you were right Foxtrot. I hope there's a chance you still might be wrong somehow. The only thing I'm holding on to is that our line is very small and young and inexperienced, and that Virginia High has a bunch of seniors that is playing lights out. <------------Aside from all of that, I kind of worry and know deep down this isn't the reason. We have been very undisciplined and we seem to have no emotion, very little cohesiveness and exactly what you said, no accountability. I worry that Radford is about to fall on some serious tough times in football. Best wishes to the Bearcats. You guys have one heck of a team down there and talking about a turnaround Man, that's a turnaround.
  13. Six, I would love to be able to disagree with you on that, but I'm worried you may be spot on. There are already some rumblings over here. I think we have way to much talent to be losing 63-0 to CBurg. The biggest difference in CBurgs 63-0 beating was more coaching compared to talent. CBurg has a great team, but they aren't 63 points better in talent difference. This makes me worried about Coaching. Radford on the line is small and raw. We lost a lot up front and it shows. Our athletes in space are good, but our interior line is taking its licks. I hope next year is different, but I don't know. Beat wishes to the Maroon Tide from here on out.
  14. Dont know if it's 9 TDs for Appo to get it's points, but if is, what's that say about their kicker? That would be 9 consecutive extra point kicks if they did score 9x7=63
  15. Appo 56, Dan River 0, 3rd quarter
  16. Lots of time between then. Anything can happen, but both schools are my second favorite teams. I have ties to both schools. Wish Giles and Galax all the best.
  17. CBurg 41, Radford 0, 3:06 left in the 3rd quarter. We had a TD called back taking 6 off the board earlier. It wouldn't have mattered. Running clock in CBurg. How good is Central and the M7? Got to be good.
  18. He"s the fastest kid I have seen on the football field since Cole Beck. Jenkins has blazing world class jets. CBurg 27, Radford 6, 3rd qtr
  19. CBurg all over the Bobcats, leads Radford 20-0 at the half. This says a lot about how good Central and M7 is as Central battled CBurg. We might be the second best team in Reg C along with Glenvar, both behind Appo, and CBurg is taking it to us.
  20. Radford in deep turkey early. CBurg 13-0 over the Cats in the late first quarter.
  21. Riverheads is a great team, but the Dogs Head Coach has installed a lot of pride in that program that was once a great one and prideful. Even though the Dogs lost a lot from last year, the Dogs have pride, heart, and will not quit. I don't think this game is a 40 point plus game in the first half. I wouldn't be surprised if the Dogs put up a bigtime fight and keep this score far closer than we think.
  22. If Gate City could have one game where those boys don't turn the ball over and get penalties that kill drives, they could make this is respectable game. Devils remind me some of Grundy. Pretty good offensive lines, but not a great passing game. Hopefully GC can get back to where they once were and make this the rivalry it was in the future.
  23. I saw Galax and Graham 2 weeks ago on NFHS and Graham last night in person and Galax tonight in person. I think Graham will be tough to beat. Galax's rush defense up front/on the ball might be as good as Union's, but Union's back 7 is better and Union's OL is better including the running back for Union. The QB for Galax is really good. No offense to Graham's QB, Union's QB, and even my own QB at Radford, but I think the kid at Galax is equally as good as all three. Galax is a tough bunch, but I would have a hard time picking against the G-Men. As good as Glenvar and Radford are on the line of scrimmage, Graham is a whole other beat on the line of scrimmage. Just like Union pushed Graham off the ball on O, Graham also did the same thing to Union with their OL shoving Union's DL back a time or two. I favor Graham here, but no quit in the Maroon Tide. Those guys come in and think they are winning every game they play. Tough outfit.
  24. Wow, that was a heck of a game and comeback by Galax. I was really impressed with Galax's QB and their run defense up front. Solid team that deserved to win the game. Hopefully the Bobcats can regroup and be ready to get back in the W column. Congrats to Galax on the win. Classy program.
  25. Yep, the Bobcats let off the gas some, but credit Galax for just continuing to do their thing. They beat us up front on the line of scrimmage which is our weak spot. We are very young up front and have a bunch of new starters that are going to be good, but they need time. Also, they are undersized. This is not a big Radford team by any means. Congrats on Galax for continuing to keep that rushing game going with great blocking. The QB for Galax is very good. Hopefully the Bobcats can bounce back next week. The better team won the game tonight.
