Graham review- It was a sloppy win for sure. There is something about when these teams play each other that all fundamentals go out the window. After watching the replay today, the defensive line was not consistent and was standing up and pushed around a lot. Bluefield ran to the same side 90% of the time and we still allowed them to get too many yards every time. Too many tackles up high, missed tackles and way too many yards up the middle. I thought the OL improved since the last scrimmage in protecting the QB. There needs to be a focus on snaps. I was impressed with Roberts passing. Penalties- Way too many penalties on both sides. After watching replay, we deserved some of them. However, I still don’t agree with not calling the horse collar and the pass interference call was rediculous in my opinion. While it was sloppy, I saw some good things too and I guarantee that we will not see sloppy play like this again. I thought Hughes had a fantastic game and a huge asset on offense and defense. I saw where he got Bluefield State Player of the game from Bluefield announcers. Blake Graham with that outstanding TD catch and MVP from Great American Rivalry Series. I thought Roberts did a great job and will only get better. I sure do hope Clements and Hughes are ok.

Graham Recap- Offense- OL needs some work but thought they started to get better with some adjustments. Lining Hughes up as RB was brilliant move which allowed him to run or Roberts to throw shorter passes while Hughes protected the QB turned out to be very successful. Clements and Hughes had some fantastic runs. Defense- I thought overall the defense is coming out stronger then I’ve seen them start out in years. Couple of minor issues. I thought the Lilly kid did great with Jennings out. I thought Hughes did great as usual, Edwards and Hass were great when LB missed tackles up the middle. There were times where JM got too many yards up the middle. Need to fix that and I know they will. Like someone said, Defense is stout. I have no doubt the coaches will continue to develop these guys, Go G-Men!

Every Graham game I’ve went to we have a very good crowd but expecting a 2A school to fill Mitchell every game is pushing it. I’ve only seen bad attendance during bad weather. Graham travels well too and every game I went to away we filled the whole visitor side.

I can’t speak to recruiting because I have never witnessed it but I do know there are multiple parents not happy with whatever is happening at BHS football right now. I have seen several FB post which some are now gone and I have no idea what is true and what isn’t but it’s more than one or two that aren’t happy.

Graham defense looked very good today with exception to the one play where the LB rushed in and their RB got through. Otherwise they played very good. Some jumping early. I thought Hughes, Railey and Floyd had some very good plays in defense. We did have some key players sitting out. I think our OL needs some work, several blocks missed. Hughes had a good run without much blocking and Jennings had some real nice runs. Overall, I thought they looked pretty darn good today. Just my opinion

Pretty good count driving by. They have 56 according to my count when I was there today but with them moving around I could be off 1-2.

Graham just released their all-state players on FB.

I think everyone on the list earned it. However Dolin deserved the honors as well. I think the coaches didn’t want to give Graham all the DL spots. Meadows being out hurt him but that kid had an amazing state performance. I don’t care if you are a Freshmen, Sophomore etc… the best players should receive the recognition.I think the current process should be reviewed and changed.

I think I have to accept the fact that I’m always left a little shocked. Guess they didn’t want to give Graham all DL spots. I at least agree with most of these this year. So many deserving players of this honor.

I agree with this. Graham moved Hughes from DE for the sole purpose of containing #7 and then Edwards behind Hughes. I thought for sure there would be adjustments after the half since he’s their biggest playmaker and had a huge article on him prior to the game. Overall, impressed with our ability to adapt our players to different positions. Great job to Hughes and Edwards you did your job yesterday of containing #7.

Definitely a lot of one sided penalties today. Did we deserve some of them absolutely but they were holding just as much as we were. The pass interference call was a joke. I can take a bad call but there were so many that were just unbelievable.
