  1. Probably the best matchup Lee could have got in rd 1. I feel like they have more weapons on offense than VA High. That being said Lees defense has to be able to contain their playmakers or it’ll be a long night, but they’ve certainly improved since the start of the season. I don’t think the Bearcats can stop all of Hammonds, Early, Huff and Roop. The only thing that can stop that offense in my opinion is bad play calling or player errors. Should be an absolute shootout.

Satterfield, a Back and a Linemen from Lee Co, 2 from Rye Cove, Huff, one who was attending school in Dickenson Co at one point, and I'm sure there are some others.

Some may have moved in Middle School which is not as big of a deal as if they transferred later but they moved to play football at Union which is ultimately the same thing. Lets not act like they were all born and raised in BSG or Appy.

Mason Polier is another notable one to come from Lee. Cochran and Keith Chandler also came from Lee

  3. I think Ridgeview’s defense wins this game for them. They will have the advantage in the trenches with experience from last weeks game against a really good group of linemen. I’d like to think they’d come out with a little piss and vinegar behind them after their first loss of the season. Gate City is certainly game though, so I wouldn’t be shocked if they win a close one.

Very important contest.  Could be for the battle of 7 vs 8, or possibly even 6th seed.  I think the loser of this game is probably the 8th seed for the playoffs and will make a trip to Ridgeview or Graham in round one.  The winner might be as high as 6th seed, and playing a game possibly at Virginia High which increases the chances of a playoff win (decent chance) compared to playing at Graham or Ridgeview.  So, this game is an important one, especially as it relates to the first round of the playoffs.

If Lee gets the 6 seed and faces Va High or Gate city they could certainly win the opening round of the playoffs. Not sure who they’d play next but itd be nice to get the first playoff win in nearly a decade.

  5. calpreps has this one 35-34 Central in a razor close game. From what I’ve heard the Generals are fired up and having fun at practice this week and want this district win badly. It’s the last home game for the seniors so I expect them to play their asses off. Lee scores early and often, let’s the Warriors hang around til late in the game and then put it way in the last few minutes. 35-24 Generals

Don't think Roop or Hammonds is the fastest on the team.  I think that goes to Konner Early

Early has been one of the best players on the team this season. Really impressive for a freshman. Not afraid to hit or make big plays. I’m excited to see how well he does over the next few years.

  7. The Generals got out to a quick 14-0 lead against Gate City but couldn’t get anything going once their defense settled in. I’m thinking it could be a similar outcome Friday, especially with the way Central chews clock with their offense. Time for the defense to step up and play their best game this season. I wish the DC had some more help, he’s surrounded by offense minded coaches. If they can get 1 or 2 more position coaches that solely focus on D line and linebackers they will be at the top of the district for the next few years.

Roop gets 10 touches per game, they're in it.  Best athlete on the field just on hustle,  but he might be the fastest also. Hammonds might be faster,  but with Roops size he's dangerous.  Better line play from city i believe was the difference.

Can’t agree more. Dude’s motor is full go the WHOLE game. He brings the energy to the team. Been watching him since he was in middle school and got to play with him my jr and sr year. He is straight up comedy in the locker room too lol. Give him more carries to give Huff a breather and let him rest a bit before the playoffs.

He is a beast on the defensive side also on the games I have watched. The kid is in on almost every tackle. I have been waiting on them to give him the ball. I went back and watched the game against Burton last night and I think lee should have thrown it about 30 times. Number 32 from Lee looked good and I have never seen him targeted before.

He is always in somewhere on the play on defense, dude is a magnet to the football. Lee just added on another threat to their offense when they decided to give him more carries. 32 is Andrew Holmes, he’s got great hands and has really stepped it up on the defense with a couple INTs this year. Lee has so many different guys getting touches on offense it’s hard to slow them down. Huff, Hammonds, Early, Holmes, Roop and the tall #11 Hines kid are all great weapons for Pendergraft to get the ball to.

Back then it seems like everyone had bigger, faster,  stronger athletes.  Getting kids to prepare for battle was simpler then. What would a back like that,  or Housewright, or jonesx2, or a hamilton do to soft defensive ways now? They'd mop up. Polier, Cody haynes, and Devin Johnson are about the only big backs in the past I can recall.

Speaking of Cody Haynes https://www.hudl.com/profile/3320714/Cody-Haynes Here’s a good highlight tape

Stats will look good on paper but he's not had that breakout game yet that will come in a significant win against one of the more dominant teams in the region. He's still had decent showings,  but no threat to run as of yet but they let the running back/h- back do the beating and banging so he don't really have to.  If he was able to scramble and pick up some first downs on 3rd and short it might help the offense keep defenses a little more honest. Caroll don't a good job there, but anything is an improvement.  They're competing and that's the first step.

Very true. He’s yet to prove himself against good defenses and he would help the team out a whole lot if he hit the weights and threatened the run game. The kid is not a bad athlete I think they’re just afraid to get him injured.

How has Lee's QB been this year? I know last year he was tearing it up.

He can sling it, but they don’t run many varied routes. Mostly fades down the sidelines, screens, and some slants. If they had some more complex, mid-level routes they would tear defenses apart. They don’t throw as much as they should in my opinion. Pendergraft’s stats are pretty good. Not a lot of interceptions and a high completion %. But they typically throw between 15-25 times a game when it should be closer to 30. The run game has been pretty damn effective though so I understand why they keep feeding it to Huff. #33 Connor Roop got some carries last game and good god that kid runs hard and fast.

If Gate City beats Lee and Central, then 1 team in the Lee vs GC contest is playing for the outright regular season M7 title the final game at Legion against Ridgeview.

True. Crazy to believe Gate City is even in position to do that. Good for them but I sure hope they lose Friday night at Five Star.

  14. This is a big rivalry game with big playoff implications. These could be either the #2-3 or #3-4 teams in the M7. The Generals want to get that loss back from last season and GC got screwed out of a playoff appearance last year so i’m sure they want this one just as bad. The Blue Devils play to the level of their competition in every game it seems like, so expect this to be close. Lee has been able to put up big numbers on offense all season, but the defense is still questionable. Last week they held Burton to short gains every 2 or 3 plays then they would bust a huge play. They couldn’t contain the QB to save their life and he’s no speedster. The defense came up big when they needed to most in the 4th qtr so hopefully Coach Carrol can keep that rolling into this week.

Looks like Grundy and Patrick Henry are the frontrunners in D.  Rural Retreat lost to George Wythe and Patrick Henry very close, so maybe they have a chance, but I don't know how they lost to Grayson County by 40 points.  Rye Cove has a good record, but Calpreps has them losing by 24 points to Grundy

    Grundy 41, Rye Cove 17

After watching Rye Cove and Burton in back to back weeks, I think the Raiders win comfortably in that matchup. Too much speed for the Eagles to contain. They could very well win the region after a slow start to the year.

  16. Went up to Norton elementary to work for their Heritage Day yesterday. They had a bunch of the high school kids up there helping teachers with the activities. It was good to see everyone involved in the community. I haven’t seen the Raiders play this year but I hear they have improved since the start of the season. Lee is still getting better each week, and they’ve got loaded remaining schedule after this game with Gate City, Central, Battle and Abingdon. Depending on how this game goes, we could see the Generals go on a good streak to end the season. I say Generals win 35-14.

I simply used an observation to link union's hammer to dawg01, I have no problem with him bashing Bostic, Turner, or Edwards. I do have a problem with him "suggesting" that certain players deserve time over others. Its passive aggressive bashing.

Just like you, I had my dirty laundry here at TWHS with Johnson. I did not agree with the spread system. I would have ran the T after seeing the 2017 scrimmage, West Greene, and Harlan games. Furthermore, I am ticked at Johnson for leaving for greener pastures with an athlete that could have easily turned the tide at Thomas Walker instead of taking them to Union. Now that Johnson's tenure is up, I feel that I can easily speak my peace without harming the either team, which is the same way that Union Fans should be. Wouldn't you agree?

Who did he take from TW? Can’t say I’ve heard of any exceptional athletes coming from Ewing recently
