Unless Rye Cove only has 4 girls on their team, then you are off on your numbers.
-
Enthusiasm and energy is one thing, but yelling "Lets Go!" at the top of her lungs and staring down batters going to the dugout is a little much. The ump behind the plate warned her when they played Lee Tuesday.
-
Yes, Rye Cove returns everyone next year. They don't have a senior on the roster.
-
Battle is a scrappy team. Wallace hit a HR in the top of the 7th to go up 4-3. GC held them and was at the top of their lineup to start the bottom of the 7th. Gibson led off with a double and the next batter bunted her over to 3rd and beat out the throw at 1st. Davidson flew out to shallow left field for the fist out. Baker lined out to center field for the second out and Gibson had to go back to tag because she got a huge jump on contact, so she didn't score. They intentionally walked Makayla Bays to load the bases with 2 outs and then Gillenwater struck out to end the game.
I don't know if Battle has anything for Tazewell. Compton is a great pitcher, but really needs to tone down the antics.
-
I've heard the same thing
-
Battle/Richlands softball game got rained out last night, so they play tonight at 8PM.
Class 2 Region D looks like this:
Lee vs Tazewell
Gate City vs Battle/Richlands winner
-
Pretty sure Williams won't be a candidate
-
Rumor is her parents bought a home on golf course and that she will transfer to either Abingdon or Tennessee High
-
You are 100% correct. If they don't get their bats going, the Lady Bulldogs will have an early exit. Compton is an outstanding pitcher, no doubt. I wonder if the talk of her transfer has effected the team any?
-
Do you mean the same Twin Springs who had Central down 8-3 late in the game before Central came back to win? That Central team beat Richlands 9-4. And this isn't the same Central team from the past couple of years.
Rye Cove just has more firepower offensively than Richlands and Tazewell. Not saying those two aren't good teams.
-
Who has Richlands or Tazewell beaten that Rye Cove couldn't have? Difference between those two and Rye Cove is offense. RC has a more potent offense than those two.
-
Here are the Mountain 7 softball standings as of May 10:
Gate City 12-0
Abingdon 6-5
Central 6-6
Lee 5-6
John Battle 5-6
Ridgeview 4-7
Union 2-10
On May 11, Lee plays Ridgeview and Battle plays Abingdon. If Lee and Battle both win, then there will be a 4 way tie for 2nd place in the district.
-
Can't vouch for the Cumberland part, but the Mountain 7 standings aren't correct at all. Lee High is 5-4 in the district. Central is 4-5 in the district. And there is no way 4 of the 7 teams have played less than 10 games
-
I know little McAmis will end up the coach at some point, but will it really be next season?
-
-
I would agree with 3 of the 4 in softball. This isn't the same Central team from last year. Pitching isn't as strong. Loss to Abingdon this week should be concerning
-
If Floyd County could have made layups, they would have won. The one at the buzzer was uncontested.
-
NFHS just about blows up every single day, so I don't think it needs any extra help lol
-
They won't have a problem finding a coach for next year. Trivette being there will be a draw.
-
Will kinda be hard for him to be on the All Conference team for the Mountain 7 when he plays in a different conference
-
-
Sorry. Thought you all were talking about the girls side of the region
-
Don't see Ridgeview beating Central tonight in the Mountain 7 semis
-
I'd bet on GC. Ridgeview is a Jekyl and Hyde team.
-
I would agree with this. The Union-Lee game earlier in the season was close to this one as far as bad officiating goes, but the game last night was horrible.
