I was on the other side and couldn't see. The kid running the ball was Anglin, I've never seen him throw a punch or even talk trash to anyone in 4 years. He's very Barry Sanders like in personality and just kinda does his job and keeps to himself. So if he did anything I'd think there was a reason for it. Unless it was another kid that didn't have the ball. I didn't see it so that's all I can say. As for "hope it made your season", it's been 20 years since Grundy beat Honaker, they didn't play each other for a long time...but no one was really looking to get excited about the win more than any other win that I know of. Grundy has been so bad for so long we're just happy to win. Period. The Hurley and Richlands games are two that different for most people but beyond that they are all about the same. Hope Honaker wins out, only helps Grundy with more points. Good luck.

Already said the refs were bad both ways not sure why you keep saying that but ok. It's not crying about the refs it's fact doesn't matter if it's a win or loss it doesn't excuse what they did just because your team wins. Not sure what else you are upset about but it's ok like I said you can have your opinion and I'll have mine. No big deal. It just bothers me grundy wasn't able to close that game out and allow Honaker a shit with time running out. They should have been out of reach by then was all I meant. You guys had more time you very well could have won and grundy shouldn't have been in that situation.

Grundy also had a TD called back on defense when 33 stripped the ball and the ref called the kid down. He had him stood up and took the ball. Should have been a TD. I didn't even mention that before. Grundy is good with stripping the ball this year they get several per game it seems.

I don't see how you could say different but whatever. To each his own.

Refs were bad. Never said they were only calling stuff against grundy. They did call back 2 or 3 TD's and get you guys off the goal line punt with a fresh set of downs. Grundy had the ball 1st and goal from the two scored twice and ended up turning it over on downs at the 24. What do you have to do score 3 to get one to count? As for Hurley Grundy has a long way to go.

Grundy won but could have easily lost and it was a pretty one sided game. That disturbs me. Should have been at least 28-3 if not worse. Grundy needs to learn how to finish a team like that off and put them away. You let people hang around and the refs get involved you run the risk of losing a one sided game.

Grundy had 2 or 3 TD's called back tonight. Also had the ball twice more inside the 10 and penalties or honakers D killed the drive. Last offensive play for Grundy should have just been a QB sneak but they tried to run up the gut and got stuffed. Jackson also caught a pass in double coverage in the end zone that was out with his foot on the line on 4th down that could have been another TD. Score could have easily been a lot more in Grundy's favor. Hubbard got tossed, what happens to him now? Does he miss the next game? Honaker's kicker nailed a 45 yard+ FG tonight to score the only points for them. Good looking kid, he's legit. Was not a fan of the refs tonight...white hat in particular was an asshole. Threw a flag for unsportsmanlike on a kid for yelling after a key stop. Gave Honaker a fresh set of downs and 15 yards instead of Grundy's ball and them punting from the goal line. End of the game they were holding up the game basically giving honaker almost a free timeout and stopping the clock on every play. Even put 4 seconds back on the clock at one point. Hate to see the refs hav the potential to change the outcome of a game like this. First time Grundy has beaten Honaker in 20 years. Fun game to watch, good luck to Honaker going forward. Looks like they have a lot of young kids playing and should be back to the usual strength soon.

All 12 Grundy wrestlers are in the top 4 in the state...8 going for championships and 4 going for 3rd place. Right now Grundy has eclipsed the 200 team point mark. Very strong showing this year, and the kids on the way up are very strong...could be the start of another long run for Grundy.

Team score: Grundy up 81-37 on Strasburg...done until 6pm tonight since everyone won.

Grundy sweeps the first round...12 for 12 headed to the Semi's.

quick update...Grundy is 7 for 7 so far in the early round....perfect through Endicott...5 more to go yet.

Grundy sends 12 to the State Tourney this weekend in the hunt for State Championship #19...good luck and safe travels to everyone who's making the trip.

IF they go to 1A then they are where they have to be in the BDD, but if they stay 2A for whatever reason, they should be in the SWD. They should have never been put in the BDD in the first place as a 2A school...Christian Jackson should have been on one of the "all something" teams this year, kid is all state caliber WR and DB but got nothing. I thought the entire point of the VHSL changes was to force people to play where they are classified...then you see the SWD get busted up and Grundy stuck in a 1A district as a 2A team. Why bother? 8 to 10 team SWD would solve a lot of problems...and as that goes, the VHSL should go back to the format where winning your district gets you in to the playoffs, then points for the remaining slots...this crap with 1-9 teams going to play 10-0 teams in first round is a waste, not everyone should make the playoffs or have that shot only the best of the bunch. Larger 8+ team districts would breed better competition at a local level, remove schedule issue, and restore traditional rivals...but, whatever...VHSL never has done anything right so why start now.

Ethan Duty from Grundy signed on with Bluefield College to play football this week, glad to see him moving on and wish him the best of luck.

Grundy and Graham have been near or at the same level for years...they are either too big for A or too small for AA...pick or choose...if they make the cut at AA by the numbers they should both be in the SWD...I've hated every single second of Grundy not being in the SWD and will continue to do so until it's back...if that never happens then so be it...but, it still sucks.

Grundy should be in the SWD...don't give a dying rats ASS what anyone else thinks or says.

well hell man, almost all of RV's scores were set up by Grundy mistakes...I think RV had 21 points and probably 30 total yards at one point. That pass was almost a pick 6 by #5 Christian Jackson...he's had a few of those this year and is a real bright spot for Grundy on both sides of the ball. They really need to get the ball to that kid more somehow.

why do they even still have districts anyway? who cares? the VHSL ruined that concept years ago...it's over. winning your district is like getting a participation trophey now...means nothing.

Grundy has a great passing game, they have two or three kids that can throw the ball well...they have Christian Jackson who is one of the best WR's in this area bar none, they have Wolford and Coleman who are both great WR's...they just choose not to use it for some reason. I don't know why...maybe they just can't get time to throw it? I don't know. If I was Grundy, I'd be throwing the shit out of the ball every week and running somewhere other than up the gut unless it was just wide open or I saw something on film that made me think i could. I'd get the ball out in space and try to let some of the kids make some plays. They can't or don't tackle very well...I don't know why. Coach Ward pretty much tells them exactly where the ball is going and they either get there and don't wrap up or they don't get there and get run over...one of the two...end result is they make average high school RB's look like Barry Sanders. I don't know why. Grundy has a good team, great bunch of kids, they are just not playing very well right now...I don't know why. Just my opinion...and frustrations...don't let it make you butt hurt.

well...can't figure out how to stop the trap, and didn't get the ball to Jackson much. Frustrating.

They did have some funky cleats though...at least for one...that we know of anyway.

Richlands does have some of the best players from all over several states though...they stay loaded.
