sorry i'm just now getting back to this to answer "why" I'm picking Abingdon...haven't been on since I posted that. no reason really, just think Abingdon will win it.

Christian Jackson will be the difference in the game. The kids got talent. On defense, if Grundy can ever figure out how to stop a basic trap play up the gut, the games would be a lot closer.

never thought I'd say this, but gotta go with Abingdon in this one.

Also...Grundy is very young...mostly 9th and 10th graders...this year things are better, next two years they should continue to improve. I think they had about 30-35 kids dressed out last week. It's important to keep expectations for this year realistic, but the kids are playing good ball right now...I wouldn't look past them or assume anything ...and you'd better hope you don't have an "off night" against them...they have some of the same kids that are State Champion wrestlers playing so they have a few really well conditioned kids....and they don't know or understand what quit means.

BlueRazor is a class act...I read that message when you reported it and I didn't think it was a threat at all...I think maybe you just took it that way, and I can see why...but knowing him I know it for sure was not a threat. Any school would be lucky to land Colley, he's a great coach, you can't argue otherwise it's established....not sure where he would "want" to go though.

i just hope Honaker doesn't shoot themselves in the foot with turnovers....they have a great team this year...i had them pegged for the State game from media day. I thought Colobro coached that '86 Tazewell team that won state? was it Litz?

Richlands got a great warm up on bad fields at Grundy...should still be fresh in their minds :)

I think it was 35-14 or so...can't remember all the details at this point. Grundy clearly had the better team that year...not always the case, but it was that year. Grundy had the rare ability to score on D with that team and even in that game Colby Owes snatched the ball away from Tazewell's QB and scored a TD...that was a very rare team for Grundy...probably the best since the '96 team. It's a shame that things played out the way they did, maybe they go to Gretna and get creamed by 50 and maybe Colby Owens blindsides Vic Hall on the first play of the game and puts him on the bench...again, the refs in that Va High game denied that from happening...so all that is left is "what if?"...what we do know is Grundy beat Tazewell 35-14 and Tazewell lost to Gretna 55-28. Grundy had Garon Marcum playing DB that year and he had enough speed to cover it....he had a 96 yard INT for a TD against Graham in the 02 playoffs as a 9th grader...and he was running a legit 4.5 time in the 40 that year as an 11th grader. What's all that mean? What's it count for? Nothing. But, would have liked to have had a shot at Gretna that year just to see.
