For doing all the things you expect a quarterback to do, H.T. Mathews was the best I've seen in the SWD. Great composure, as was even better seen on the basketball court. I put Eddie Neel right behind him, because of H.T.'s arm. Easy on Dudley, he did lead Graham to an undefeated regular season. There are a few sights that are etched in my mind. The Grimes catch against Tazewell, Ahmad on kickoff coverage against Liberty Bedford when he was a sophomore, Ahmad's run against Martinsville as a senior, Tommy Edwards slinging Todd King in circles by his facemask, Rustburg's second chance kick going through the uprights, Dave Lawson breaking his collar bone on a TD catch, every minute of Graham/Gretna, and unclouded amoung these is the naked bootleg that Dudley ran against Radford which was called back.

I'm with Sandman on this one...all I remember are the turnovers...he didn't lead them to an undefeated season...they had an undefeated season in spite of him...

Graham has had a few with Neel, Sizemore, Patton, Gray, Matthews, and the Gibson kid was a good one until he got hurt against Gate City. Will Cole will be a "VERY" good one form what I saw last Friday.
[/ QUOTE ]
What??? No mention of Aerial Fumble Cundiff???
[/ QUOTE ]
The worst QB we ever had was Bill Dudley, hands down. The man set the state record for interceptions in a playoff game it was against Radford and we (the Graham fans) could not believe what we were seeing. Six interceptions in one playoff game, there were years Carlock didn't throw six passes in the entire season. It was like a nice sunny afternoon in Hell.

Be careful Sandman...you may find yourself on the wrong end of a "defamation of character" lawsuit...

UVA's football stadium is known as "The Library"...because its always so quite there!!!
Actually its called Scott Stadium.

No doubt! Reggie Ball looks horrible...must think he's still in Blacksburg...

Did the team from Hokietown qualify?
Do we know the teams we will be seeing next weel?
[/ QUOTE ]
This is what I know so far...
Region IV: Magna Vista & Bassett
Region III: Blacksburg & Salem
Region II: playing today (most likely Western Albemarle + 1 other)
Region I: Bruton & Jamestown (I think)

Must agree...one of the worst officiated games I've ever seen...bad calls both ways...late calls both ways...and there really should be a "weight limit" on officials...first time I've ever seen "blocking below the knees" signaled by the hands hitting mid-belly on that fat-arse white cap...he kinda reminded me of the fat official in The Waterboy that Bobby had to call timeout for in order to provide him with some high-quality H2O....

I wasn't at the Graham/Bluefield game #2, but I am hoping that his injury wasn't a dirty play or anything like that.
[/ QUOTE ]
No, it was far from being a "dirty play". Powell took off up the sidelines (Bluefield's sidelines) and there was a big pile up about 15 yards downfield...didn't look too bad but he was in immediate pain when it happened.

How many people have been attending the games lately??? Has the novelty worn off yet???
[/ QUOTE ]
Do you have a women? friend? Dog? "has the novelty worn off yet?" what do you think we are, Some type of back to school toy?
[/ QUOTE ]
Main Entry: nov·el·ty
Pronunciation: 'nä-v&l-tE
Function: noun
Inflected Form: plural -ties
: the quality or state of being new : quality of being different from anything in prior existence <satisfied the requirement of novelty for a patent on the design>
What I was asking...has there been a decline in attendance since the beginning of the season? Since Bluefield had never had a "semi pro" football team, it, The Barons, would be considered a "novelty".
And to answer your questions...yes, yes, no, only if you want to be a "back to school toy"...
-
Bluefield is 6th in Class AA/A...Princeton is 7th in Class AAA.
-
Marshall is a good kid and a pretty good player...he usually plays well at Fincastle.

In the words of Ron Burgundy..."You stay classy, Morgantown."
-
To be honest, the initial injury "wasn't good". It was down-played quite a bit by both coaches, player, and parents. The "re-injury" probably finished off what was damaged initally. Probably shouldn't have been playing anyway and definitely shouldn't have been playing without his knee brace.
