  1. [ QUOTE ] Bluefield/Martinsburg is a 2 year contract [/ QUOTE ] Nope...even on the AA & AAA State Championship broadcasts the announcers pointed out that they had played a "one time" game.
  2. Graham is 1-2...beat Pocy, lost to Pulaski Co. and Bluefield.
  3. Yeh, I don't think it'll happen this year. Getting kinda depressed too! I didn't realize how much hockey I actually watch on TV until the other night when I kept flipping channels and couldn't find anything but basketball to watch...have I mentioned I am not a big basketball fan, especially the NBA??? Beer consumption so far this winter is down as well for me. It was very common for me to sit down to a hockey game and toss back a beer or six. Fortunately, I've noticed that FoxSports P'burgh has been showing some "classic" hockey games...that has helped but its not like getting the real thing...
  4. That's him!!! I could not think of his name to save my a$$!! He should definitely be mentioned with the best ever at Grundy in my opinion!
  5. ghstoga... If you are who I think you are (KG), we used to hang out quite a bit! HF and I were good friends...I used to come up to your house and hang out "poolside". We also played baseball...knocking tennis balls and whiffle balls over the neighbors house. If I'm not mistaken, I believe we were also on the same LL teams in both baseball and basketball.
  6. Who was the real good player for Grundy on the '83-'84 team??? I remember him scoring all 29 points to beat Graham 29-28 at Grundy to end the season in 1983.
  7. You mean the Perkins boys, J.K. and Carey, don't have any of those records???
  8. [ QUOTE ] some man named Charlie Large will be the new head coach [/ QUOTE ] You mean "Buster" Large???? I wondered where he was. He played football for Graham back in the early 70s and went on to play football at Bluefield St. back when they had a team. He's coached all over the place...when I was in high school he was the baseball coach at Princeton (also helped with football). I think he was also the head football coach at J.I. Burton about 10 or so years ago. BTW...good luck with that...
  9. 229 days until August 1st...it can't get here quick enough...
  10. Here is what it looks like in Bluefield, WV...these were taken at about 1:15 PM... Snow #1 Snow #2 Snow #3 Snow #4

My predictions... AA, Division 4 - Salem over Harrisonburg AA, Division 3 - Gretna over Poquoson A, Division 2 - Manassas Park over Powell Valley A, Division 1 - Franklin over J.I. Burton
  12. And those numbers to DO NOT include the number of visits made to the message boards...Lance would have to give us that information...
  13. SWVAFootball.com's website has had 2,761,734 hits since December 8, 2003. In that same time period between 2002 and 2003, we had just over 900,000. That's a 300% increase in the number of web hits on SWVAFootball.com!!! Thank you to EVERYBODY that has visited the website this season! A special thanks to Lance for providing this AWESOME forum for all sports and more!!! And a very SPECIAL THANK YOU to Gene & Patty Forbes, owners of the McDonald's restaurants in our area...without their support, this website would never have existed!!! STAY TUNED FOLKS...Lance and I will be working together to bring you something BIGGER AND BETTER in 2005!!!
  14. If I hit the lottery tonight (PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE <crossing fingers>), I'll pay for a turf field at Mitchell Stadium on one condition... The official name must be changed to G-Man Turf at Chmara Field/Mitchell Stadium.
  15. GREAT!!! More reasons for me to HATE high school basketball!!!! Only 235 more days until football gets started...
  16. Instant Analysis of the VT-Miami game... "Virginia Tech did it all against the odds in 2004, capping its tremendous season with a particularly memorable effort against Miami, a program synonymous with college football royalty. Saturday in the Orange Bowl, a violent dethroning took place, and a new king rose to power in a newly-shaped conference."
  17. Even though they are not in your poll...I think Bassett was one of the top 3 teams in Region IV this season.
  18. I've seen all four and I would rank them in this order... #1 - 2004 #2 - 1975 #2 - 1997 (tie between '75 and '97) #4 - 1984
  19. You need to hit 'refresh' more often...
  20. [ QUOTE ] Some commentary from my dad... --The field is wet and slick. Something about there being mud under it (??) --Bluefield hasn't run the ball well...Wayne has a good size defensive line, and it's not working. --Bluefield finally got the pass game uncorked late in the half. --Bluefield is capitalizing on Wayne's mistakes, which are plenty. (my dad is sort of a pessimist, so take it all in context...LOL) [/ QUOTE ] #1 - According to the radio guys...the field is wet but not slick. The mud is from when the Ohio R. flooded the field in Sept...under 9 ft. of water. Now they say it is getting slick...the moisture is freezing!!! #2 - Bluefield has about 75 yards of total offense but has had a short field most of the night. #3 - Coeburn threw a fade to Repass. They've had receivers open but Coeburn has not connected. #4 - Lots of Wayne mistakes...turnovers, bad snaps on punts, shanked punts, etc.... Wayne broke a 51 yard run on the first play of the game...they have 30 +/- total yards at the half...
  21. Wayne ran one play to run out the half...
  22. Phil Niekro used the emory board...he had a "hang nail" and forgot he had it in his pocket!
