Grundy's quarterback wasnt hurt that game.. he was hurt earlier in the season against Richlands but he took every snap in the game against Salem... including the one he fumbled and Salem recovered it to end and win the game b/c he pulled out from the center to soon... the ball was on the one foot line... So you were wrong he wasnt hurt and did play but I bet alot of Grundy fans and players would have like to have that fumbled snap back!! I dont know why he fumbled but someone once told me that the bonehead was selfish and fumbled the snap trying to sneak it instead of running to play called in the huddle... I still remember it like yesterday... I have yet to see rain like that again, it was coming up from the ground.. I dont see how those guys stood it... It was aweful!! I still think their running back scored on the first play of overtime.. and then again on the second play but the refs said his knee was down or the ball didnt cross the goal line or something like that... Anyway on 3rd down that QB fumbled and the rest is history... Salem wins 7-0!!! I still cant believe he fumbled that snap... and cost Grundy a chance to win a state title.. Salem went on to blow someone out the next week winning one of their many state titles.. Thats the closes Grundy has gotten to the title game.. Players can be so selfish sometimes.... In my opinion the qb was trying to be the hero.. and ended up a zero.. If I was him I still wouldnt be able to sleep at night... even more so this time of year when the playoffs roll around.... Did he go on the play football in college? I remember everyone being so high on him but I also heard he was a turd of a player/person... I never did hear anything else about him, I was just wondering.. wasnt his name copenhaven or something like that... hell he might even get on here and read these post... If you do, Post up and tell us the REAL story. Nothing personal but on that day, I'm sure glad I wasnt you...

Grundy got hosed!!! It cost them a state title! That was the best team that Grundy has ever had and it ended at the hands of Salem/VHSL... Cry baby Willis White... It was a messed up situtation from the get go.... Bottom Line... Salem didnt want to travel all the way to Grundy....

With the construction on 58 that roads not that bad of a trip.... I know this because I have traveled it many many many times in the past and recently(I drive it everyday to work).. I would much rather drive from Henry Couny to Carrol.. than Carrol to Grundy.. you have to go over Shorts Gap mountain traveling to Grundy.. even though its a four lane road that mountain is almost as bad... and its takes a whole lot longer to even get to that mountain.. the buses these days are mostly automatics and have alot more power than those old manual ones... Saying that lovers leap mountain is to dangerous is just an excuse..... because they have no other excuse to give not to try to move to the piedmont district.. i have made all the trips mentioned above and I believe that those times are a bit longer than it would actually take... My point is.... Stop saying Lover's leap (Rt58) is such a bad and dangerous drive... The fog is really bad up there sometimes but not all the time... some of you all are making it sound like the bus drivers are going to be drunk or something... that's their job and i think they could handle it and the kids would be home alot earlier after games to take care of their homework.... remember!!! they arent called STUDENT-athletes for nothing.. Damn if you cant drive on a road that has a few curves and up a mountain.. STAY HOME!!! Please quit giving this excuse and come up with a better reason not to join the Piedmont District.. Better yet give one good reason you should be in the SWD... and not another district closer to Carrol County High School.

Damn this crap got deep... to deep for an ol football jock to understand... I thought a football game started with a kick-off... and thats what i think gman should do with this fool.. kick him off here.. I think I got dumber reading those post.. and I can't stand or understand anymore of that jibber-jabber... I was at the game saturday and the end toward the new concession stand was tore up pretty.. as for the middle, I asked one of the Graham coaches what was up with the painted football at mid-field and he said they painted it to cover up a huge bare dirt spot where the grass had been worn out... lets see.... dirt + water = MUD... However the upper end of the field should be in good shape... thank goodness carlock called off the dogs in the second quarter and second half because thats the end martinsville had to go to so there wasnt much action on that end... Grundy might get the local fire department to go up there thursday night and soak it.. they will need all the help they can get.. maybe even natural disaster to hit mitchell stadium to help them..... good luck to all.. play fair.. and accidentally run into a ref.. i love seeing those bright white pants get muddy..haha (of course I'm Joking.... I never like to see anyone get hurt or I would never try to persuade a player to hit a ref... even though I would like to knock one of them out sometimes on a bonehead call... but they are human and I hope they call a fair game... let the boys play and may the best team win with no excuses... anyway you have to admit it is funny when a ref get knocked down, even funnier in the mud... unharmed of course).. .

I bet grundy is glad of that... hoping some rain and snow too i guess.. just like last year... Graham/Grundy III... RegionIV Finals...Finals series tied 1-1.. Battle of the champions!! I love hype... I hope it turns out as exciting as it could be.. not a blowout like in the meeting earlier this year..

GRUNDY @ GRAHAM for the Region IV Divison Title!! Will Grundy rebound from that beating at the hands of the G-men earlier in the season? or will Graham see blood and revenge that loss last year. These teams know each other so well. It should be a good one. I was disappointed in embarassing loss i thought with all the hype and all the trash talking on here that Grundy would have at least made it close... oh well new season, new game, new location, different weather and two more improved teams.. this should be a barn burner.. Let get this thing going on here.. It to big of a game for it to be this quite on here.... come on grundy and graham fan lets give this game the attention it deserves.. no put downs or slander.. just some good arguments!!lol

RECORDS SO FAR SOUTHWEST DISTRICT 2-1 PIEDMONT DISTRICT 1-1 HIGHLANDS DISTRICT 0-1 MV over Richlands, Carrol Co over Abingdon, Grundy over FC Martinsville @ Graham Saturday @ 2:00 With a win the SWD will have proven to have had the better teams in the region IV playoffs.(the toughest(best)district) They also had the most teams in the playoffs.

I beleive you are right Gman.. I also beleive that Carrol County was another school that didn't want to combined.. I know there's alot of miles between Lee County and Carrol County. That brings up my next question... Why is Carrol in the SWD anyway?? Why are they not in a district closer to their school, like in the roanoke area? Are they scared of William Fleming, Byrd, Salem, Blacksburg, Pulaski, etc.?? or, why don't they try to enter the Piedmont District next year when it loses 2 teams with the consolidation? Correct me if I am wrong but, wouldn't it would be a closer trip to martinsville, magna vista-laurel park, fieldale-bassett,than going to Graham or Tazewell... And tunstall and dan river would be closer than going to richlands and grundy.. I think this would be a great resolution for carrol considering no one in the SWD likes them anyway As for Lee I don't think Gate City or Powell Valley would mind if they dropped to single A and joined the Lonesome Pine District. That would take care of Lee's travel issues. What would be wrong with this scenario? Trust me, I don't claim to be a rocket scientist by no means.. You can probably tell that by my spelling and grammer.. but does anyone agree with me that this would be a good solution to this problem. If this happens, it would almost be like the old days when the highlands didn't exist.. And the old SWD was a great district with, what was it? 9 teams? I was just a pup in those days. If Lee and Carrol would leave then Graham, Grundy, Richlands, Tazewell, Abingdon, Virginia High, and Marion could reunite and make up the new Southwest District. However, if it did happen I hope the Highlands teams would agree to drop their district name and keep the SOUTHWEST DISTRICT's name. That would only be fair considering they were the schools that left in the first place. When you are a member of the Southwest District you are part of a football rich tradition and that's why I think they should keep that name. Well that all for now.. First thing, Congratulations FC on a great last season. PDFootball--I wasnt trying to open another can of worms by saying that FC laid down...They played a great game...What i meant was when things got tough they came unglued. Grundy kept their focus. Mistakes by FC proved to be crucial. I just wanted to clear that up and not show any disrespect towards FC... Overall, it was one hell of a game.

Grundy proved me and a whole lot of people wrong tonight. Grundy 34 FC 27 They played a great game and have one hellova team. It was a barn burner. This didnt look like the Grundy team that i had seen. They have really put it together. Watch out Martinsville-Graham winner--the Golden Wave look hungry. Their playoff experience played a major role in the outcome of this game tonight. When things got tough, Grundy got tougher, and FC laid down. Congrats Grundy! I am glad that i had to eat my words. 88Wave, you looked really cold tonight . See you next week at the Region finals.

Shows how much you know.... I played in the SWD.. and I will never down them.... I was just trying to open up a can of worms and it looks like I did... I even got super coach jmarcum to reply.. I cant beleive he found time to reply, with all those films to review.. Also, I wasnt talking only about the piedmont when refering to east... sorry g-man i know this must have hit a nerve for you to reply also. Lets see... Liberty beat Grundy last year and Grundy beat Graham... Liberty isnt in the PD. However, Richlands got a good taste last year at Magna Vista. The same taste Grundy will get tonight... I'm sorry jmarcun its true... oh yes its true... Graham will probably beat Martinsville,.. I was only saying I don't think it will be a blow out.. maybe it will... we will see tomorrow... oh yeah by the way.... I appreciate everyone that replied.. I may become famous on here... p.s. Graham is the big favorite in this one but as it has been proven in the past the swd has had problems with teams the farther east they go.. yeah bradshaws tough and quick but teams from the piedmont are use to speed and have speed themself...martinsville and FC probably have at least 5 or 6 guys faster or as quick as bradshaw. Catching him shouldnt be a problem but tackling him will be... I may be wrong but this one will be closer than expected.. I think this game is for the region title, to bad they had to meet in the first round... FC should roll over the golden wave but this is their first ever playoff appearence and nerves may be a problem and if graham beats martinsville, FC will have a good chance at winning their first ever region championship.. call it beginners luck... but if the bulldogs pull off the so called upset then i see the dogs winning the region because FC have had their problems with martinsville...people are blaming all the fumbles on FC's lost to martinsville, but thats football and good teams dont make those mistakes.. good teams make their own luck and it doesnt hurt to have that luck sometimes.. this is my take.. hope you agree but if not.. oh well thats my story and I'm sticking to it!
