  1. Kinda surprised no one has mentioned Radford. Bobcat stadium is huge for a single A team. Of course they use to be AA. I think AA Patrick Co. is pretty bad. Stand on the top row of the visitors bleachers and you may be able to see over the players helments......maybe. They are AA and I guess I just expect more out of a bigger school. Tunstall has a gorgeous field, at least they did when I was there in 2008.
  2. Personally I think he is a great Safety and average QB. However, the C-burg system doesn't show off his passing skills. Once he gets to VT, he will be able to work with the coaches and possibly remain at QB. If not, he has a bright future somewhere on the field for the Hokies.
  3. I just want to confirm this by saying school children in my family have an hour bus ride to and from school. Actually when they go to high school, they will then load another bus and ride 20 more minutes from the elementary to the high school......fact.
  4. Footing will be a problem for the o-line and the backs. Fumbles will be an issue as well. You never know.
  5. WOW....I hear it's already a couple of inches down there. That field will be awful after about 5 minutes of football.
  6. EM traveled down today and is already in town.
  7. He hasn't played all year. This is a huge deal for basketball though. He is 1 of 5 returning starters on a state quarterfinal team. He is too old by less than 1 day. Literally hours.
  8. Is there any radio for East Mont at Clintwood?
  9. For me, I would go to the game regardless. The only thing that worries me is what if it did snow 4 inches and EM's team and fans had to travel home in that. Now that is a problem. We all can acknowledge that. I love snow and football, having both at the same time is great in my eyes. Let's pray everyone is safe.
  10. I wish that both state semis were held at the same venue. Both could be at Pulaski one year and at UVA Wise or say VA High the next. I would love to see both the East Mont and Radford games this year but no dice.
  11. Everything is pretty much the same. The school was built about 2-3 miles down the road and it was built in Elliston instead of Shawsville....thus the name change. Same enrollment, they didn't pick anyone up. I have a question. Why is this game being played at Clintwood and not UVA Wse? I thought this game was almost always at UVA Wise. I think playing on grass and not turf favors Clintwood....especially if t rains.

  13. Em does in fact run no huddle....the entire game.
  14. EM's offense willl generate some points. They spread out 4-5 wide and it's hard to stop. They have a 6'4 and a 6'8 receiver. They are small on the lines but very fast. I am starting to get the feeling that it will take a speed team like Franklin to stop them. I read that Clintwood is very big, are they quick up front as well? If so, then they too should have success moving the ball. I have no idea who will take this one but EM's wide open attack is tough.
  15. As a Floyd fan, my take on Radford is this. They have 2 very fast RBs. Carter the Qb is also very fast. Their passing game is average at best IMO. They were 2-10 for 3 yards against Chilhowie. Radford hurts you with their speed making big plays. They do have a good defense. If they can simply focus on the run , then they will be very hard to run against. Radford lost at the state final last year and lost some really good guys upfront. I have not seen GC play but I imagine they may be better in the trenches. Chilhowe really made it hard for Radford to run the ball. That being said Radford's D should keep them in the game. 21-7 GC
  16. I have seen East Mont a couple of times this year. They run 4-5 wide and not many teams see that very often throughout the season. They have great team speed on Defense. Em is very small on the lines but they have been very effective. To say that Shawn Christian isn't a good athlete is false. He is a very good safety. You have to have a balanced attack to beat them. They beat Floyd by stacking the box. Floyd's passing game was terrible this year. If Clintwood is balanced like you guys say, then they will be fine on Offense. No one has stopped EM this year. No one. It will be up to Clintwood's coaches to come up with a good scheme. They have a 6'4 and a 6'8" reciever. There RB is tough as well. I feel their schedule has been better than Clintwoods. I am not sure that really matters when you get this far. I may have to make the trip down to see this game if it happens. It would be 2 undefeated teams.
  17. CC received 6 turnovers from Bassett and still lost. C-burg will play the reserves in this one before the night is over. Way too much speed. 35-7. I'm thinking it's between C-burg and Magna Vista for the region in D4.
  18. Totally agree with Grayson. Whens the last time anyone even gave Grayson a thought in football? They are surely making noise. Chilhowie isn't that bad of a team and the score indicates that they put it on them pretty good. Also have to mention Galax. 2 shutouts to start the season. Galax is another team that no one thinks will have much success.
  19. THey have Reynolds at Qb. Is is one of the fastest qb's in the area. All they did last year was let him run. They had zero passing game. I expect things to be the same this year. I'm going with CC in this one due to their showing against Bassett.
  20. I expected that type of response. The comments of 12-0 over on the other thread just sparked my interest. I think it is safe to say that if you guys aren't undefeated going into the CS game, then it would be a major upset. I hope to be able to watch that game if it happens. I don't see any other competition in the region for either team. Martiinsville could be a team to watch but I knida doubt it.
  21. I have noticed some post in the Gate City thread about you guys should win the region with ease. I have read on here that you guys are loaded and I don't doubt that at all. I think Richlands will be undefeated going into the game with Cave Spring. Herein lies the point of this post. Cave Spring appears to be loaded as well. I am sure you guys know about the Cole kid who has committed to VT. Woodrum, the qb, is committed to liberty but just got an offer from Wake FOrest this week. Cave Spring is very good as well. I am sure you guys have that circled on your calendars. I predict you will have homefield this year because you guys will finish 10-0. CS could finish 8-2 or better because C-burg and Salem will obviously be stout competition. Just wondering what you guys preliminary thoughts are on this potential matchup. It's farly obvious that these 2 teams are the juggernaunts of region IV D3.
  22. East Mont has all but one starter back and he was a lineman. I am not convinced that EM is physical enough to make a deep run but they will have an explosive offense fueled by their passing game.
  23. Link below. Radford is the early favorite to win the region in my book. Some rumors have surfaced that they have received some transfers from Pulaski due to Pulaski's one year ban of the playoffs. Any truth? http://www.roanoke.com/news/nrv/sports/wb/256022
