  1. My advice is drive past the school and take the road that leads you down to the visitor bleachers. One more piece of advice.....get there early if you want a seat where you can see over the players on the sidelines.
  2. 95.3 has the game but I do not think you can hear this on the internet. Anyone know of any other broadcast?
  3. Funny how everyone is on JB's bandwagon when just a week ago everyone thought they were over rated. I am always happy for a school to get this far when they usually struggle in years past. That can be said for both teams in this one. Battle beating Giles was huge. However, I have stated more than once that Giles had played 1 good defense this year in Christiansburg. I guess Blacksburg was average. That's it. No other team they face even had a decent D. It certainly showed last Friday. The thing about Fort is they are huge on the o-line. They are much better upfront than Giles IMO. There is no reason this thing shouldn't be a great game. Both teams and communities will be in a real frenzyabout "state" if their team wins......enjoy it!

  5. I saw them play Floyd and they are running the spread. They are terrible. They are big and have athletes but they are just a bad football team. They have a new staff and may be good in a couple years. Time will tell.
  6. I find some of these arguments to be ridiculous. School buses travel lover's leap and Woolwine Mountain (much worse BTW) everyday in the Patrick County School system. That's a dead argument in my book. It also needs to be mentioned that travel time from CC to Narrows is 1:17 at best (mapquest). My opinion is CC needs to man up and head to the Peidmont. No it does not take 1:45 minutes to get to Bassett, Patrick, Martinsville...ect. In that article, the case is made that CC is not that good and has never won a state title. That may be true now but they can be very good in the future while facing Narrows and Bland. Not too mention that Galax and Grayson for that matter was very poor in football until recently. Who's to say they dont have a decline sooner than later. It's gonna be funny when CC starts hanging MED banners....LOL.
  7. Carroll would rather be in the MED than the River Ridge if it includes Franklin County. Not to long ago, Carroll dropped Floyd in football citing power points as the reason. Truth is, Floyd was beating them at least half of the time. Now they actually want to be in a district where they can play not only D2 but also D1 teams. That's funny. I am sure they have cited travel as the concern but it seems to me that the Piedmont would fix that situation for them. http://www.vhsl.org/doc/upload/rr-summary-district-and-conference-appeals-9-11-12.pdf
  8. I have heard that numbers is a huge issue at Radford. It's really hard for me to believe about a good Radford program.
  9. This someone knows that districts mean absolutely nothing after this move. Matter of fact, they mean absolutely nothing in single A right now.
  10. Richlands has the program to play some big boys. However, Abingdon, Carroll, and Bassett (scrimmage) are not big boys on the field.
  11. Somebody must be way out of touch because the latest info suggest VHSL is considering doing away with the traditional districts mentioned anyway. Link below. http://www.vhsl.org/doc/upload/rr-2013-15-Initial-Proposed-Conferences.pdf
  12. One of the more interesting things in the conference model link is that Christiansburg, Hidden Valley, and Magna Vista would all be 3A which is comparable to the current division 3 setup. Patrick County would have a very difficult time in their conference playing C-burg, Hidden Valley, Blacksburg and Cave Spring.
  13. I actually think Richlands will find tougher competition in D2 locally. The last few years the only competition they have seen in D3 is Cave Spring. D2 features some very good teams and now that the playoff system has changed in single A to include teams like Gretna and Riverheads, I think Richlands will be tested earlier in the playoffs than usual. It also must be said that it will be the opposite if Richlands makes it to the state level. There are not many teams that can stack up to Northside, Brookville, and other elite D3 teams in any of D2. I for one have thought for several years now that D2 has been better then D3 locally from top to bottom. One must also consider that there are few D3 schools compared to the number of D2s Roanoke and south.
