    BHS VS GHS

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Couldn't have said it better rules. G man, you know nothing about what you're talking about, and you just showed everyone. Thanks [/ QUOTE ] Hey dumbass...G-Man didn't make any of those comments...THANKS FOR SHOWING YOUR STUPIDITY!!! [/ QUOTE ] Now Now kids you all play nice.
  2. [ QUOTE ] hey i didnt play im just a fan so im not gona get into the that i just think the crew couldv done a better job in general. Did shady get more breaks yes but was it home cookin no. But never the less it was a great game to watch it just sucks anyone lost. [/ QUOTE ] Well let's just say the umps should have let the kids decide the game. The call on the sac fly was horrible and anyone watching the game knows that. Both teams played hard and the game should not have turned on such a questionable call. There is no way any Shady fan could feel good about how the game was handed to them. The Beavers had the game won in regulation and all of the neutral observers (ie the media) knew that. Good Luck to Shady in Charleston...hope they let you bring that crew from last night with you on the bus.
  3. Weir Red Riders...Home of 7 Football State Championships,4 Baseball State Championships, 3 Kennedy Award Winners!!! You need to add the following to your sig line... And loser to Bluefield in Four Semi-Final Games..... Just a thought.
  4. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] twopac i sure pray to God that you are right! East really scares me [/ QUOTE ] They should scare you. If they have the same officials that they had tonight calling the rest of their games they'll "win" the state title... [/ QUOTE ] Heck with those three buffoons they could win the NCAA tournament.
  5. Right now they are 0-0. The key is how hard the kids are willing to work in the off season. They will have talent, but that gets you nothing without lots of hard work, both on and off the field. My suggestions are for all the players to hit both the books and the weight room real hard this spring. If everybody is eligible and in shape come August 1st and stays healthy all season, then my prediction is that Coach Simon and his staff will make another trip up to the Island in December.
  6. 7. [ QUOTE ] BluefieldRocks, you're not grasping the concept. It is the same kicker from last year. Last year, he wasn't injured. He injured his leg while practicing at Marshall last week before the Weir/Wayne game. I think he's going to be fine by this week though. [/ QUOTE ] Good to know...I thought maybe he missed an extra point in practice and a Coach cold cocked him or something.
  8. Well I am not advocating looking ahead at this time of year by any means, but since you asked, here is the history of recent rematchs involving Coach Simon's team that I can recall. In 2002 James Monroe beat Bluefield 30-7 in the regular season, they faced them again in the playoffs and beat them 3-0. In 2003 Oak Hill beat them 21-20 in the regular season, and they beat them 61-6 in the playoffs, last year they squeaked by Mount View 17-14 in the regular season and when they faced them again in the playoffs they destroyed 58-0. This year they played Graham twice....losing the first game 21-14 and winning the 2nd game 7-0. Let me say thou the past means nothing, to even get to a rematch they MUST win this week. Should that happen, then I am sure the coaching staff at BHS certainly has the expertise necessary to devise a game plan for success in a rematch situation. At least they seem to have in the past.
  9. Would not have anything to do with what happened down in Blacksburg last night now would it?
  10. [ QUOTE ] Mr. Hillbilly where you been ? Taking a Math refresher course>>lol [/ QUOTE ] Yep...congrats on proving me wrong. Nice easy bracket you guys got there....guess you already have reservations in Wheeling all set up....Good Luck.
  11. All I will say is...two schools named Liberty exit the playoffs in Round One.
  12. [ QUOTE ] According to one guy who crunched the numbers. JM plays Liberty and if we win then we play the winner of Tolsia and Independence. We won't face Bluefield until semis and they have to beat Hoover to get their. [/ QUOTE ] Looks to me like you guys would be playing #15 Winfield in the 1st round, then if you win the winner of Tolsia and Independence in Round 2. Bluefield would play Liberty Harrison and if they win the winner of Hoover and Grafton. A possible rematch between the Beavs and the Mavs is definitely on the horizon in the Semis. Good luck to both teams.
  13. [ QUOTE ] GMan...Thanks for the clarfication. I know it's a lomg shot, I were just saying it was possible. Hillbilly, I guess you might want to take a little math from these farmers...lol [/ QUOTE ] Well it is possible for the sun to not come up in the morning but HIGHLY unlikely. In order for G-Man's scenario to work out...Pikeview (1-7) would have to beat both Pocahontas VA and Midland Trail, Oak Hill (2-6) would have to beat both Mt. View (6-2) and Grundy VA, and Summers County (0-8) would have to beat AAA Nicholas County (5-3), and Point Pleasant (3-5) would have to beat Herbert Hoover (7-1), I was talking in the "real world" it could not happen not in "G-Man's fantasy land". And even he said it was "highly unlikely"...so dream on Alice. I will say it again there is no way you will pass Weir to get to number two...so deal with it.
  14. Do they not teach math in Monroe County? Get this....Weir has 102 points currently and they have played nine games for a rating of 11.33 they will get 10 more points this weekend with a win over Buckeye Local a AA team out of Ohio which has one win....they will also have a number of "bonus points" coming from other defeated opponents, both this weekend and next. Let's say another 7-15 possible but to be conservative that gives them only five or 117 points or 11.70 rating. You guys currently have 86 points let's say the unthinkable and the Beavers don't show up and you win somehow this Friday night....that would give you 14 points (9 pluse 5 wins) giving you now 100 points divided by nine games or a rating of 11.1 okay let's say you beat Greenbrier East for another 13 points or total of 113 for the season...now you divide by ten games and you get a rating of 11.3, how do you possibly fathom that you could pass Weir even if you win out....which we all know ain't gonna happen. Even in your wildest dreams you cannot pass them...Got it? Now Willie I wish I understood the point system better, maybe if I did I could dream up a way to have you guys end up Number Two, but given my limited knowledge this is the best I can come up with, now what is it that I am not getting here that you farmers in Monroe County know and the rest of the state does not know? Please tell us.
  15. [ QUOTE ] You don't know much about the point system, do you? [/ QUOTE ] All I need to know I know. James Monroe has the lowest SOS rating in AA in the state....according to Max Preps.
  16. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I don't even see how JM could pass Weir in the rankings unless Weir would lose. This isn't possible IMO considering Weir has beaten a AAA opponent while JM doesn't have a AAA team on their schedule, so it'd be hard for them to make up the difference of those points. [/ QUOTE ] Our last game is against Greenbrier East who is AAA while Weir is idle that week. Plus if we beat Bluefield that will be big points too. [/ QUOTE ] Weir may be idle, but they have played ten games and won nine, and they play a very tough schedule...you guys play nobody but Bluefield and Greenbrier East and GE is down this year and Bluefield only has five or six wins, so there is no way in God's green earth that you pass Weir in the ratings, even if you manage to win your last two which is highly doubtful. Add some quality teams to that cupcake schedule you got and then maybe you can go 6-4 and make the playoffs and have a chance to win it all like Bluefield or Wheeling Central....they consistently make the finals in their Class by playing a tough schedule and going in the playoffs battle tested and ready to play.
  17. [ QUOTE ] I broke out the old newspaper article on this game from last year. Taylor had 16 yards rushing on 14 carries and a TD, which came on the second string defense late in the game. And in fact, Taylor had negative yards rushing until Hoover's final drive against Bluefield's second string and JV kids. [/ QUOTE ] Let's hope history repeats itself tonight.
  18. Senior with Down syndrome fulfills dream By TIM MacMAHON / The Dallas Morning News The home crowd at Keller ISD Stadium rose to its feet as soon as Lyndon LaPlante jogged onto the field during the fourth quarter Friday night. The fans went wild during LaPlante's 99-yard touchdown run, which ended with him being mobbed in the end zone by his Keller teammates. Never mind that the pre-arranged play didn't count. It fulfilled a dream for LaPlante, a senior who has Down syndrome. He maximized the moment by flashing a Heismanesque stiff arm as he crossed the goal line and hamming it up on the sideline after play resumed in Keller's 35-21 win over Richland. "Man, it was awesome!" said LaPlante, who was still cradling the game ball when his mother, Genni, woke him up Saturday morning. "Everybody said, 'Lyndon! Lyndon! Lyndon!' I was crying with chills." Keller coach Kevin Atkinson had planned for three years to get LaPlante a carry his senior season. He hoped an opposing coach would agree to allow LaPlante to take a handoff and run over to the sideline to hug his coach. Atkinson mentioned the idea to Richland coach Gene Wier, who suggested LaPlante should score. They agreed it would happen on Keller's first offensive play of the fourth quarter and notified the officiating crew before the game. Perhaps it was fate that a Richland punt pinned Keller on its 1-yard line, giving LaPlante as much glory as possible. Moments earlier, LaPlante had called his father, Don, to the guardrail behind the Keller bench. "I'm goin' in! I'm goin' in!" he said. LaPlante has been a part of Keller's program since his freshman year, when he served as the freshman team's manager. Atkinson, smitten by LaPlante's upbeat personality, promoted him to student assistant head coach the next season. LaPlante specializes in motivational speeches, which usually focus on how much he loves Keller and his teammates. "His heart is as big as Texas," Atkinson said. LaPlante's unofficial duties also include greeting college coaches on campus to recruit. He'll introduce himself, title and all, and chat away. "I've played y'all on PlayStation," LaPlante has told a few coaches, "and y'all aren't very good." Atkinson allowed LaPlante to pick a position before his sophomore season. LaPlante chose to be a running back. He dresses out and goes through noncontact drills with the backs at the beginning of every practice. He's been known to then retreat to Atkinson's golf cart for a nap. LaPlante, No. 1 on the roster, has suited up for every varsity game the last two seasons. He gets two carries during pregame drills every week. He usually removes his shoulder pads once the game starts and concentrates on taking pictures. With some help from his mother, LaPlante has made a photo slideshow for the team at the end of each season. One ended with a mug shot of him accompanied by four words: "Put me in, Coach."
  19. I am guessing if you win out it would be possible to sneak in at 15 or 16 hard to say at this point, but they are definitely a "bubble" team. On the downside it could mean a long trip to Wayne or Weir, and most likely an even longer ride home. But hey you could say "we made the playoffs."
  20. [ QUOTE ] The playoffs picture will look totally different in three weeks, especially if Bluefield was to win-out... [/ QUOTE ] That is why he used the word "IF"
  21. [ QUOTE ] If you are gonna talk the talk, you better be sure you can walk the walk. [/ QUOTE ] Amen
  22. Brandon Cunningham, Mount View's talented tailback, can reel off the weapons in a hurry, from record-setting quarterback Adrian Thomas to speedy Cordero High and big receivers like Eric Smith and Shannon Thomas. "We've got so many weapons on our team. We've got me, Cordero, Adrian, Eric, all of us, we've got to many weapons on this team to lose," Cunningham said. "We're just going to have to go out there and score and don't show no mercy. Just keep scoring and scoring." I guess there is no use to play the game tonight according to the Mount View players the Beavers don't stand a chance.
  23. In one article he is a senior and in one he is a junior. Which is correct?
  24. [ QUOTE ] A very convincing win by the Mavs tonight, great job. A question for Hilliblly, asside from Wayne and Weir, if we are so bad and play suuuuuuch a weak schedule name some other AA teams that clearly deserve to be ranked better than the Mavs. I not saying JM will be in Wheeling but that have as good a chance as any and better than most. [/ QUOTE ] I never said you did not deserve to be ranked high, all I said was the win loss record of your opponents to date leads me and many others to believe you have not faced any real competition yet. So hold off on the bragging just yet. You have as good a chance getting to Wheeling as anybody in the top 20 or so at this point. Once the playoffs begin any team may advance, Wayne and Weir are clearly the front runners at this point, but there are several other teams poised to challenge for those slots on the island. Mount View, Herbert Hoover, Bluefield, and yes the mighty Mavericks along with a number of teams could make a run for the trophy. Lots of football left to play yet so relax and chill out a bit. Talk don't win any championships, let's let the kids decide it "between the lines" on the next several Friday nights.
  25. [ QUOTE ] Yeah whatever, you guys keep it coming with the untested junk and the Mavs will keep doing their thing. At least we won't be sitting at home in Nov. unlike a lot of other local teams. [/ QUOTE ] True you are likely to be playing in November, but what about that first weekend in December, you got any plans for that weekend?
