  1. 8 points hardly suggests that Union ran the ball “at will”, LOL. I’d bet everything that isn’t nailed down on Graham -10. You should probably take a few days off the Board…
  2. I would highly doubt it, given his injury.
  3. Graham will get 2A points for playing Galax and George Wythe. Graham would almost certainly host.
  4. I know Grundy lost to Patrick Henry, but Grundy has been playing some great football since then.
  5. Very, very, very, very wide. Lee, who is probably a #7 seed at best in 2D, had its way with arguably the best team in 1D. John Battle, who won’t be attending the playoffs in 2D unless they buy tickets, won by multiple scores over arguably the 3rd best team in 1D. I’ve said this every year for the last 3, but this is the worst I’ve ever seen 1D.
  6. Bluefield becomes 1-4 with a positive score differential on the season.
  7. Creasy should be back for this one. He dressed Friday night and could have played if needed, but Moss and the offense moved the ball well enough to take that option off the table. So Tazewell this week should more resemble a standard Tazewell setup, perhaps with some wrinkles learned from Creasy’s absence. That being said, Tazewell gets the honor of playing Riverheads (1) coming off a bye and (2) coming off a loss. What fun! My hopes are (1) keep everyone healthy and (2) give a solid account of themselves. Anything above that would be gravy.
  8. By M7 homer standards, going 3-2 is ultimate pwnage.
  9. Absolute clown take, LOL. It’s not like you haven’t littered this board with a whole circus full of them since you disgraced us with your presence. Union scored the same number of points as Tazewell did. Schematically, Union is a poor matchup for Graham, and even with Graham playing poorly…the Bears scored 8. Graham would beat Union at least 8 of every 10 games played. You’re just butthurt because (1) your team lost and (2) you know you can’t prove me wrong.
  10. I’d say Union would be lucky to win 2 of 10. Graham played its worst game of the year, in a difficult environment, against a quality team, and still won by 2 scores. Said it all along, I think Ridgeview’s the bigger threat to them.
  11. This might well be the year they get their 1st ever playoff appearance.
  12. I was starting to really like you, too. 😉
  13. He's up to 3rd on the RB depth chart there. 2 of their 3 RBs (Chancellor Harris - Tazewell) are SWVA products. If I were an FCS school, I would establish pipelines in places like SWVA, where the talent is D1 quality but frequently overlooked.
  14. But enough about Richlands, what about Graham’s band? 😉 Carl’s the best pure musician that Graham’s ever produced, and that’s saying something considering the sheer numbers and talent that have gone through that place. He’s a great, solid individual as well, and Graham is very lucky to have him. A great musician does not always a good director make, but I have faith that Carl will certainly be both. Just this year alone, Graham’s band sounds much better than it has in the last decade. I do chuckle that, for all the Richlands/Graham band rivalry in the 1990s and 2000s, 2 of the 3 directors in the County are Graham alums, and Graham alums I played alongside. The circle of life, man.

  16. It’s going to have a different flavor, that’s all I’ll say. It’s gut check time. A lot of folks are doing some soul-searching this week. It’s homecoming, against a team that has less physical talent than you do, who is hungry coming off an upset win. I will say, this is the most spirited I’ve seen practice all year, so I’m hopeful.
  17. I’ve had multiple lives when it comes to experiencing fans. I’ve experienced them as a student; I’ve experienced them as a fan; and I’ve experienced them as a broadcaster. As a student, I’ve never had a half-full beer can thrown at me anywhere but Mount View, so that’s in a class by itself. Most know enough to leave kids alone. They don’t. As a fan, probably Gate City. Very inhospitable place. As an announcer, most groups go well out of their way to make us feel welcome. Special shout-outs to Riverheads and Colonial Heights for going well above the call of duty. A few of the press boxes have been memorable in a bad way, such as Princeton (incredibly cramped) and Richlands (separated by a plywood board and surrounded by hundreds of dead flies) and Marion (7 miles from the field). But the staff at each and every one has been pleasant. Except one. That honor goes to Central. Both times I have been there, the administration has gone well out of their way to inconvenience us to the point where we have to have our administration handle it with them.
  18. First one to 10 wins, and I’m not joking. I expect a 17-7 kind of game. Neither offense will knock your socks off, and both defenses will absolutely knock your socks off.
  19. I can’t recall if I had them 12th or had them 12th then bumped them to “first team out”. And I’m one that goes by “who could beat whom”. Love that idea!
  20. High noon, but we’ll be on the radio at 11:30 AM!
  21. Just arrived at the hotel and getting dinners in their bellies.
  22. Since the cat’s out of the bag, Carter’s been ruled out for 2 weeks, mostly precautionary, and should return for Riverheads. One DL has a hand injury, which will take a few weeks, but there is ample depth there. Everyone else is good to go. I know I sound like a broken record, but I don’t think the QB change will affect the final outcome. It comes down to the line executing blocking schemes. CH’s coaching staff isn’t exactly Alabama’s. BTW, the Dawgs should rest well tonight. Good hotel accommodations here!

  24. He had a groin injury, but progressed well through rehab and is back at 100%.
