  1. LOL!!! That was a good one. But honestly he was in my opinion 1 of the 4 best OLB's that the G-Men had during the 90's. The other 3 were his best friend David Lawson, Mike Jude, and J.C. Harmon. These 4 may be the 4 best in the last 25 years.
  2. Stacy was one of the best OLB's I've seen even at his size.
  3. The '95 team wasn't better than the '90, '93' or '01 teams.
  4. Well you did answer the question. LOL!!!!!!
  5. If you were to ask the players from the championship teams they will tell you who coached them. Broyles and Caldwell. Go ask one of them I bet you they say it.
  6. I want to be one of the first ones to congratulate the G-Girls on making it to Regionals. It has been over 30 years and that is something to be proud of. They have had a few good teams in the past but didn't make it this far which is due to the coaching situatuions in the past 10 years. Even if they don't make it out of the first round it's a major accomplishment and I'm proud of them.
  7. IF you can play you can play. If they're not going D1 are they even going NAIA. There are may different levels of play and of course D1 takes alot but if you can play at all someone will offer you a ride. Did Concord offer any of these guys? Did any school offer these guys? UVA Wise, Emory, Ferrum? IF not then it can't be just because they're not tall.
  8. Ahmad did play receiver. His soph. year he played in the slot and out wide with Reed, and Ryan. He had about 700 yards rec. and rushing that year. He was a hell of a pass catcher and it showed last year at Marshall when he caught about 60 balls. This year that went down drastically. He only got into trouble 1 time at UVA and it was enough to get him sent home. He could have gone back the next year but he wanted to play right away hence, Marshall. He also was not going to play running back at UVA he was going to play corner and we all know what kind of defensive player he was. WOW!!!!!!!
  9. They can, but they don't get anything out of #7, #8, or #9. So it's of little use. The younger POnder needs to play Varsity the whole time and no J.V. He's the second best ball handler they have behind Moore. The Harris kid isn't bad but I would go with Ponder if it gets tight down the stretch and it will.
  10. It's pretty hard to press the whole game when you don't have a deep bench. The players will eventually get tired and may need a break. Using the press off and on during the game may be a good idea but to just continually press isn't going to work either.
  11. Their bench isn't deep enough to win it. Against Westside they only played 7 if I'm wrong please correct me. I think he needed another ball handler in the game at the end instead of Moore, Ponder, Hammond, Brooks, and the other big kid. I can't remember his name. They had a box in 1 on Moore and no one else could handle the ball. Craig Ponder should have been in the game at that point of the Harris kid.
  12. You earn playing time!!! Just because you have more players doesn't mean you get more playing time. If anything you get more playing time by playing in the off season. being part of a team should be reason enough to want to play. Not playing because you think you won't play enough is just selfish and they are doing the right thing by catching the bus after school.
  13. Appearently the coach has seen some of posts that may bring down is teammates and make himself look good. Diverting the attention from his mistakes maybe.
  14. The situation at Tazewell is one of the worst things that I have ever witnessed. How in the world can you have 500 kids in a school and not have enough to field a JV basketball team. That is a reflection of the administration and the parents down there, and not to mention the school board. I applaud the kids that are there playing and taking the loses on the chin and learning from it. I also want to so tell those kids don't let the A-HOLES in your school bother you guys about losing because they aren't willing to come and help the situation. It's my opinion that they are all cowards and I think that most people involved in sports would agree.
  15. you know what? I have a problem with guards and forwards blaming the bigs for not guarding. If the guards would make it hard on other guards then it would be tougher for the bigs to get the ball. Now, I know someone will say something about rebounding. Okay, in that case you get your tail down there and help them out. I played guard all my life and I know what it takes to be successful on the court and that is to HELP one another out and not stand out there and watch as your BIGS are getting pounded. Double down off the wings if they can't guard them. Basketball is an easy game if you play it right.
  16. This had nothing to do with conduct. This was totally a family issue and he figured it was his time to go. He did get some info that was to his liking and that is all it was to it.
  17. HE appearently doesn't know anything about basketball. Jones turned the Graham program around from nothing to something, and yes he did have some athletes but it takes a coach to coach them and Graham went up state a few times while he was there. How many times did they go before he got there? Maybe 3 total.
  18. I don't think anyone stnads out. They're all about the same level of talent. There really isn't a go to player on the team.
  19. When Coach Jones left there was no one there to take the job. Gray left for NC and Carlock was the only one there. I don't really think he would have wanted if Gray would have stayed but he took the challenge due to there not being anyone there. you have to give him some credit for accepting the position knowing good and dang well what he had coming up from the middle school, which as we can see is not much. He was the JV coach anyway so he was next in line. He is not the coach due to his name. Honestly there's just not anyone there at the school that is capable of doing any better.
  20. They would play for the state championship every year if that were to ever happen.
  21. I didn't know that. What in the HELL is going on down there?
