  1. Same here. Has a video and live stats link too. The live stats link brings up the Galax/Surry game, so maybe this one wasn't available to listen too? http://www.siegelcenter.com/phase2/index1.php Nevermind...works for me now.
  2. The storm late this week/weekend has me thinking back to '98, at least for us. Track that the models are bringing further west (some at least), but could end up swinging east of the Apps and closer to the coast, along with local forecasters downplaying potential.... Perfect, lol. Ok, so maybe it's wishful thinking

  4. It was confirmed to be a tornado...rated an EF-1. Info from the NWS... Path was 1 mile long, width 300 yards. Other info: http://www.srh.noaa.gov/productview.php?pil=PNSMRX Seen during some of the news footage, that one home (and a good sized one), was picked up, spun around, and ended up coming to rest facing the opposite direction.
  5. A lot of info on the LPD board, with some pics too. Brief update on tricities.com with a little pic too. Should be plenty about it on WJHL and WCYB tonight. http://www.tricities.com/tristate/tri/news.apx.-content-articles-TRI-2008-03-04-0039.html Shelters were opened up, had some evacuations and such. Main roads from Lee Co. and East Stone were blocked and traffic rerouted. Think it may have been a tornado or microburst. The radar indicated rotation from about northern Lee County until somewhere near Wise, with the strongest right over BSG.

  9. The committee meets this afternoon to decide the pairings, so yeah, everything should be in there at least Monday (maybe online this evening). The Region C pairings were released a little while ago, the BHC has them up, and said the Region D pairings would be released a little later this evening.

  12. As said before, barring no upsets. I think they'll still can get in depending on how the district tournament and such goes. But yeah, Lebanon looks to be the one going in. Actually, the last Lee/Lebanon was "all that close" haha.
  13. Not such a good idea... http://timesnews.net/article.php?id=9005096 Hummer discovered stolen when driver applies for welfare in Lee County Published 02/11/2008 By Walter Lilttrell JONESVILLE — “It doesn’t pay to apply for welfare while driving a Hummer,†declared Lee County Sheriff Gary Parsons after his officers charged a Tennessee man with possession of stolen property after he drove the expensive vehicle to the local department of social services. Parsons said William K. Anderson, 51, 501 Forrestal Drive, Knoxville, is being held without bond at the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail and may be charged with other crimes in another jurisdiction in relation to the stolen vehicle. According to the sheriff, an observant person noticed the man arrive at the Lee County Department of Social Services on Friday in the 2004 H2 Hummer, bearing Michigan license plates, and attempt to obtain welfare benefits. Thinking something just wasn’t quite right, the person took down the license number of the vehicle and reported the information to the sheriff’s office. “We thought it was unusual that a high-dollar vehicle with out-of-state tags would be at the department of social services too, so we ran the tag and found out that it was stolen,†said Parsons. The sheriff said his officers were notified to be on the lookout for the vehicle, and it was soon located in the parking lot of Wal-Mart in Ben Hur. Officers set up a surveillance on the vehicle and waited until someone came out of the store, entered the vehicle and drove away. Officers then initiated a stop and charged the driver, Anderson, with possession of stolen property. Parsons said the owners had recently moved to the Nashville area and had taken a trip to Knoxville for a Hannah Montana concert. While in Knoxville, the owners were visiting friends when the Hummer was stolen on Feb. 2 from the driveway of the friends’ home. Anderson was arraigned Monday in Lee County General District Court, and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for Feb. 27 at 10:30 a.m.
  14. Didn't think they were. I was going to respond to the competition deal but didn't think worth the effort, haha. Honestly though, I never ran into anyone that really seemed to think Lee should move down because of a "competitive disadvantage." I thought they were competing just fine anyway. It probably played a small part, but honestly some schools had other reasons that were the main reasons for dropping. But at lest we can all agree on one thing and that's the expansion in classification.
  15. This was in one of our local papers down here in early January, explaining Region D's format. Each Region was to develop their own plan. Like Helper said, it may have changed again since then, I think Region C has changed theirs from what it originally was, so with that said.... From the Kingsport-times... "Automatic berths are assigned to regular season champions and district tournament champions. If regular season and district tournament champs are the same, district tournament runner-ups also garner automatic berths. On the opposite end of things, the last place team in the regular-season standings must finish in the top three in the district tournament to meet minimum requirements for regional play. For seeding purposes, teams will be awarded points for regular-season order of finish (16 points for first, 12 for second, nine for third, six for fourth and three points for fifth through seventh) and for district tournament order of finish (12 points for first, 10 for second, nine for third, six for fourth and three for fifth through seventh). Take note: this means that district tournaments will now include consolation matchups which are quite meaningful. Of course, there are tiebreakers in place for both the regular-season ranking process and the regional seeding process. And play-in games are not entirely ruled out. The regional tournament week tentatively will begin Tuesday, Feb. 26, with girls Division 1 and Division 2 quarterfinals played at satellite sites, with the higher seed hosting. Boys quarterfinals will follow the same format the next day. Girls semifinals will be played Thursday, Feb. 27 at Castlewood and/or Lebanon high schools with the boys semifinals set for Feb. 28 at the same sites. The boys and girls region championships — that’s four games, folks — will be played at Virginia High on Saturday, Feb. 29. The following week, eight teams from the region will advance to the expanded Group A state tournament, culminating with the semifinals and finals in Richmond."
  16. [ QUOTE ] With the rapid opening of new schools in NOVA there will eventually be some small AA schools with 900 enrollments qualifiying for Single A status. [/ QUOTE ] They would qualify for single A status...with 900 students????
  17. [ QUOTE ] On the other hand it did prevent teams from C and D from having to play someone with 800 or 900 students in a state game. [/ QUOTE ] Who has 900 students? Who has 800, other than Lee, who's hovering right around that mark (and they're in Region D)? Just a handful have even 700 or more. Saying that, I agree it needs to be expanded, but hey we couldn't exaggerate our position, the same goes for the rest, haha
  18. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Battle and PH would be lucky to hire someone of saunder's qualifications [/ QUOTE ]ph beats most teams they play from wise.john battle will play schools from wise so they don't go 0 and 10.? [/ QUOTE ] So what are they doing when they play schools like Holston, Twin Springs, and Northwood that aren't "from Wise"
