I was standing at the far end of the endzone on the line, the official was about 5 yards inside the endzone watching if the pass was caught....he had both feet out of bounds but the official was watching to see if the pass was caught, not where he landed. You can say what you want about the penaltys but every Richlands offensive lineman had a fist full of Lebanon jersey practically every play, not to mention all the uncalled chop blocks. I guess it all depends on which side of the coin you're on as to how you see every penalty. I didn't see any relaxing by the Richlands defense, they were tired but not relaxed. But the game is over, if it makes you feel better about your team to make excuses for a team to hang up 32 points on them.....carry on. I wasn't happy to see somebody hang up 46 on my team, I'll make no excuses for it except that Richlands had superior speed and could get outside.
-
Nadoball, you're kid'in.....right? Was you even at the game or does it just bother you so much that you had to come up with something? Lebanon did fumble inside the 5 once.....bad call showed him down. Richlands caught a long pass about a yard out of bounds in the back of the endzone........bad call. Evens out.
Quincy........I'm 9. Are you still in the 8th grade? you all seem to have a lot of trouble getting through that one!
-
OOOOOHHHHHHHH, don't disrespect the mighty Gate City fans, that's a BIG no-no. Is everybody in Kingsport the same?
-
plooolt, did you really expect anything else? Richlands has incredible speed and once ouside, they were gone. Mance has a way of exploiting a team's weaknesses and play to his team's strengths. Am I the only one that saw the height advantage Cobb had? I know Jessee was off target a lot but I would have thrown to Cobb all night or at least til the stopped it. I'm afraid Lebanon is stuck in the 60's for a while. With that said, I don't believe Lebanon was going to win that game unless the entire Johnson family caught the flu. Richlands was the better team and deserved to win, hat's off to them.
-
Congratulations Richlands! Both teams played hard, what little time the refs let them. By far the best team we've played this year. As far as the officials, they weren't bias.....made questionable calls against both teams. Good luck the rest of the season.
-
I'm not. I like watching two good games in the same day at the same place. I haven't had any trouble parking, no problem with the seating and both teams play on the same surface. I've enjoyed every high school game I've watched there. Let me guess who the whinners are.......nah, they already know. Since when did you just start putting 15-18 year olds on the field, don't you mean 16-19 year olds?
-
Man.....good post and all true. I'm impressed.
-
Well....schedules have to play into it. Some 5-5 teams may have played a much tougher schedule than an 8-2 team. If it was strictly based on records, there'd be a lot of teams try to "cupcake" their way into the playoffs.
-
Whinning already? You haven't got to that game yet!! I like it played at Wise, great place to watch a game and no rednecks hanging on the fence cuss'in kids.
-
Lebanon has a pretty good passing game and Va. High had a darn good pass defense. But, with that said.....the passing game was set up by Lebanon's ability to run the ball, don't believe that'll be the case against Richlands.

Clintwood at East Montgomery
Radford at Lebanon

James Monroe @ Greenbrier East = James Monroe
Bluefield @ Scott (Laidley Field - Charleston)= Bluefield

GAME OF THE WEEK
Tazewell @ Graham = Graham

Could you imagine how boring the games would be if everything was predictable?
-
Early in the year before the Richlands offense started clicking, I would have given Lebanon a fairly good chance. Not so much now. Maybe close for as much as a half, then Richlands will take off. Too much speed on offense and to stingy on defense. Wished I was wrong, but I don't think I am.
-
If Richlands plays like they did against Gate City, it should be a good one. Who judges a team by one game? You think Tazewell would beat Clintwood?
-
The run down is that Lee's the best team Kelly has played to date and they're struggling to say the least. Kelly's waltz through the Cumberland may come back to bite them down the road when they have to play other division 2 teams. I don't believe Lee will have much for Kelly but who really knows? Gate City, Powell Valley, Lebanon, Virginia High and Honaker play quality schedules and have been battle tested.......can you say that about Kelly? We probably won't know anything about Kelly til next week.

Refer to previous post about the smart alumni.
-
Really? Well, that makes it tough, but smart alumni will figure a way around that. Pocy ain't bad....you hafta start somewhere. Another 20 or 30 years and you'll have it all figured out, a regular football factory. Don't forget the "Pride and Tradition" part, that's important, it makes you think whatever you do to build a football team is ok!!
-
What would really help Graham is, if they had a large area to draw from.....saaaaay, the size of Kingsport TN. Also, Graham parents let their kids go through school way too quick, no kid should just go through the 8th grade once.....what are you people thinking?!?!
Now, get over there and recruit some of that West Virginia talent and quit making your kids go through the 8th grade just once!! You need to learn how to manipulate the system. It's not Marr's fault, it's you parents and alumni. Once you've learned how to recruit and have college age seniors, then claim to have a tremendous amount of pride and tradition!!

Tazewell came to Lebanon last year a bit cocky and got their arses handed to them. Same could happen to Lebanon this year if they're cocky and not ready to play.
